Spanish Test Study Guide: Ser and Estar Q: What will the test be like? A: That is a great question! The test will be 30 questions broken up into 6 sections. 20 of those questions will be multiple choice. The remaining 10 will involve some type of writing. Q: What should we know for the test? A: Also a great question! The test will focus on the verbs Ser and Estar. I would start with making sure you know the verb charts for the two! If you cannot find them, do not worry! Not only are they on our Google Classroom, but I also have them attached with this study guide to help you! I would also look at the old quizzes I have given out and some of the worksheets we have gone over in class. If you have thrown those out, they should be available on Google Classroom. Q: What might some of the questions look like? A: Well, while I cannot tell you what the questions are, I can tell you what to prepare for. I would recommend making sure you can identify the subject in a sentence. That means you should know the subject pronouns [Yo, Tú, Él, Ella, Usted (Ud.), Nosotros, Vosotros, Ellos, Ellas, Ustedes (Uds.)]. That will definitely help with a lot of the test. I would also make sure you know the uses of the verbs [look at the acronynms DOCTOR, HELP, PLACE]. It would be super helpful to look at the interactive notebook activity we did on 11/5 and 11/6.
Q: What if I have more questions than just these? A: That is no problem at all! I am always available to answer questions! If you have a question and want to ask there are a few ways you can do that. 1) See me at school. While I am usually somewhere in the building teaching, I am usually free in the morning before school starts. 2) Ask during class! This is a safe learning environment for all of us. I am sure if you have the question, at least one other person also has that question. 3) Email me. Since I am only here 3 days a week, sometimes email works best. If it is Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday I will most definitely answer the email before I see you again. If it is Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday it may take me some more time to answer you, but I will answer! Q: Do you have any tips for me? A: YES! 1) DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE NIGHT BEFORE!!!!!! If you wait until the night before, you will stress yourself out and feel very overwhelmed. That is not how you want to be before taking a test. If you have not started studying, I would make sure to begin. 2) Look at the verb charts and our notes! The verb charts are there to help you! If you have them memorized (correctly) you are welcome to write them on your test to help you out. 3) Make flashcards. I do not like flashcards, I struggle to memorize things, but if they work for you, go for it! 4) Study with friends! Learning in a group setting is more fun than learning on your own. 5) Practice! Practice! Practice! Learning practical applications will make it more enjoyable than just memorizing verbs!
