Son of Edwin James Barnett and Elizabeth Ann Stone (nee Belben) of Windlesham, Surrey and husband to Mabel Louise (nee Selwyn). He was born in Windlesham in 1889. His father worked as an agricultural labourer. He married Mabel in 1909 in Windsor. In 1911 he was living in Windlesham, working as a domestic gardener. Sometime between 1911 and his enlistment in the army, he moved to Ellisfield. He enlisted in Basingstoke. He is buried at Brandhoek New Military Cemetery No 3, Ypres, West Flanders, Belgium. Plot I. In 1911 he was boarding with the Dawsons at Widmoor Farm, with is occupation listed as Farmer. No known grave. His name is listed on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Canakkale, Turkey. The family moved to Ellisfield some time between 1901 (when they were in North Waltham) and 1911, when they were living at Bell Cottage, Ellisfield. In 1911, Frank was working as a brick layer. Frank enlisted on 23 March 1916 in Reading, but contracted pneumonia and died a month later. Frank is buried at St. Martin s Church, Ellisfield. His younger brother Sidney is also named on this memorial.
