December 2013, Scorer 14 Scorer with BridgePads Quick Guide to Teams Scoring These instructions a short guide to Teams scoring. Only the most common functions are covered. For details on more advanced or optional functions see the Scorer User Manual and BridgePad User Guide. Start Scorer using desktop icon: Login: Name = admin Password = leave blank Or use the Name and Password you have been provided with From the top menu on the next screen, choose Scorer, then Score Section to bring up the Calendar screen showing the days events. The event should have been pre-entered in the calendar. If the event is not showing, refer to the Scorer User Manual for instructions on entering events. Select the event (usually there will only be one). Click Next Make sure the correct date and event name are in the header window at the top of the screen. If Event Details and team names have been pre-entered, click Players to print the listing of teams. Teams sit at the table number equal to their team number. (Alternative not used at Wellington Club players sit at Home and Away tables. You will need to do the draw to allocate table numbers and adjust the instructions below to reflect this). If Event Details have not been pre-entered enter these now. Team numbers will be the number of the table they are sitting at before the start of Round 1. Page 1

1. Do the Draw, Start BridgePad and Upload Names Click on the correct Round number line to ensure the correct Round No. is selected. Click Draw. On the Draw screen, check that Use team No for Table is ticked. Refer to the picture here and carry out the steps below. BridgePads can be handed out and play can start after step 6. 1. Click Automatic Draw. 2. Enter A for section and the correct starting board number (1 for the first round of the night 13 or 15 or some other number for the second round). 3. The Round is Played As players connect to the server, the word Initialized appears in the init row. During play, the squares for board/table will be populated with the results and the director can monitor that results are being received as play progresses. At the end of the round click on the BrigePad program again and check that all results have been captured (look for blank squares). If any boards have not been played (eg for lack of time), NP should be entered as the contract for that board on the BridgePad. LP on the bridgepad (late play) is used for boards that will be played at the end of the round. When all results are in, change the channel to channel 19 so no more entries can be made from the BridgePad units. Click Yes to the message that indicates you are severing the connection to BridgePad. 3. Generate Round Results, Print aned Post to the Web See next section below if any adjustment are required.
