The Telephone Khaled

Introduction The telephone is used to call people from far places. Over time it has changed from cellphone to smartphone. Picture of Martin Cooper holding the first cellphone. Picture from ebook Picture of smartphone made by Apple. Picture from ebook

The Cell Phone The cell phone looked like a colored box with a pin on the top. It worked by electric waves. You have to charge your telephone. It was created around 1970s by Dr. Martin Cooper. People s lives were changed in a positive way because they could call other people for help. People s lives were changed in a negative way because if they where calling someone when you are driving you could get in a crash.

The Smart Phone The smart phone looked like a rectangle with no wires. There is a touch screen. It worked by electricity. You can use the Internet on it. It was created around 1993 by the IBM company. People s lives were changed in a positive way because they could have fun. People s lives were changed in a negative way because they cost a lot of money.

My Opinion Overall, I think the change from the cell phone to the smart phone is positive because smart phones can let you see the news.

The Telescope Lila

Introduction The telescope is used for capturing images from far away like stars, constellations and planets. Over time it has changed from Galileo's design to Hubble's telescope. two of Galileo's telescopes Picture from ebook Hubble telescope Picture from ebook

Galileo s Telescope (Refracting) Galileo s Telescope looked like long tube with lenses, one was yellowish brownish and one was light chocolaty brown. It worked by collecting and concentrating light as it is broken in to different colors. It was created around 1609 by Galileo Galilei. People s lives were changed in a positive way because now they can see the sky better and it wasn t so blurry. People s lives were changed in a negative way because it was still very blurry but they could see.

Hubble Telescope (Space) The Hubble Telescope is 8 feet wide made with several computers. It looked like silver duct tape on a tube. It runs on solar panels and orbits around earth. Happily taking pictures of space. It was lunched on April 25, 1990 by NASA. People s lives were changed in a positive way because there was a problem on earth the made the lens bend the light and it caused to be blurry. It could take pictures of the sky with no problems. People s lives were changed in a negative way because they were afraid of the images they were seeing.

My Opinion Overall, I think the change from Galileo s to Hubble s is positive because its good that there s a telescope that is very good at modestly working.

Refrigerators Clemens

Introduction The refrigerator is used for keeping things cold that usually would rot away if it wasn t kept cold. Over time it has changed from the mechanical refrigerator to the energy efficient. Mechanical Refrigerator Picture from ebook Energy Efficient Picture from ebook

The Mechanical Refrigerator The mechanical refrigerator looked like a rectangle with legs, a smaller rectangle on top of the bigger rectangle and a door in the middle of the bigger rectangle. It worked by having a motor that used Freon (a chemical) to keep stuff cold. It was created around 1911 by Fred Wolf. People s lives were changed in a positive way because the mechanical refrigerator was colder than the ice box. The mechanical refrigerator was also better than the ice box because the ice box leaked a lot and the ice box didn t, it kept food cold in the summer which the ice box didn t do and people who built the refrigerator got jobs. People s lives were changed in a negative way because it had dangerous chemicals that made people sick, it broke a lot, people who made ice boxes lost their jobs and it used Freon which made holes in the ozone.

The Energy Efficient Refrigerator The energy efficient refrigerator looks like a big rectangle with two doors. It works by using recyclable parts which didn t use much energy to keep stuff cold. It was created around the 1990 s by scientists who didn t want to use much Freon. People s lives were changed in a positive way because it used less energy so you didn t have to pay much money, it made ice, it didn t make people sick, it had a light and it didn t use Freon that harmed the ozone. People s lives were changed in a negative way because the people who made Freon lost their jobs.

My Opinion Overall, I think the change from the mechanical refrigerator to the energy efficient refrigerator is positive because it made the world a better place, it didn t make people sick and it had a light.

INTRODUCTION The refrigerator is used for keeping things cold and frozen. Over time it has changed from mechanical to energy efficient. This odd shape above me is a NOT earth friendly. It is a mechanical fridge. Picture from ebook Energy efficient fridge. Picture from ebook.

THE MECHANICAL REFRIGERATOR The mechanical refrigerator looked like a odd shape. It had four legs and a huge motor on top. It worked by energy and different chemicals that were extremely dangerous and NOT very earth friendly. It was created around 1900 s by Fred wolf. People s lives were changed in a positive way because with the mechanical refrigerator around you could freeze stuff in the summer. People s lives were changed in a negative way because all the poor ice men lost their jobs. If the mechanical refrigerator leaked you could get very injured if you were near it.

THE ENERGY EFFICIENT REFRIGERATOR The energy efficient refrigerator looks like a rectangle shape with no legs on the bottom. The energy efficient refrigerator did not have a motor. It works by having no chemicals. Water evaporates in the air and it makes things colder. It was created around the 1980s by refrigerator companies. People s lives were changed in a positive way because energy bills were down and it didn t make any noise at all. It took a lot of jobs to deliver the energy efficient refrigerator. That means that more people got money. People s lives were changed in a negative way because all the Fred Wolf workers lost there jobs and Fred Wolf would have to find another job quickly and now!

MY OPINION Overall, I think the change from the mechanical refrigerator to the energy efficient refrigerator is positive because the energy efficient refrigerator is much better for the environment and the mechanical refrigerator has a loud, crazy huge motor, but the energy efficient did not.

Refrigerators Thea

Introduction The refrigerator is used to keep food cool and to keep food from spoiling. Over time it has changed from an ice box to a mechanical refridgerator. This shows an ice box with a big block of ice in it. Picture from ebook. This shows a mechanical refridgerator. Picture from ebook.

The Ice Box The ice box looked like a big box with a cabinet on top. It worked by having big blocks of ice that were stored in the cabinet on top and twice a week an ice deliverer would deliver ice. The melted ice would drip into the drip pan below. It was created around 1900 by William Cullen, Michael Farady, John Goorie, and Thomas Moore. People s lives were changed in a positive way because there were jobs because someone needed to deliver ice and many people had to work for the companies that built ice boxes. People s lives were changed in a negative way because sometimes when you went to empty the drip pan it spilled.

The Mechanical Refrigerator The mechanical refrigerator looked like a big box with a tank on top. It worked by having the food stored in a cabinet and the cooling gas called freon that would filter down and keep the food cool. It was created around 1923 by Fred Wolf. People s lives were changed in a positive way because no one had to deliver ice and many people had to work for the companies that built them. People s lives were changed in a negative way because freon was bad for the environment, if freon leaked it could make people sick, ice deliverers lost their jobs, and some people couldn t afford it.

My Opinion Overall, I think the change from a ice box to a mechanical refrigerator is a positive and negative change because people gained and lost jobs and problems were fixed and made.

Refrigerators Ben

The Ice Box The ice box looked like a wooden box with legs. It worked by ice cubes. It was created around the 1800 s by Thomas Moore. People s lives were changed in a positive way because they could make food cold in the summer. People s lives were changed in a negative way because the temperature didn t stay the same so sometimes it made food go bad.

The Mechanical Refrigerator The mechanical refrigerator looked like a battleship. It worked by a chemical called freon. It was created around 1923 by Fred Wolf. People s lives were changed in a positive way because the temperature stayed the same so food did not go bad and it kept food colder. People s lives were changed in a negative way because freon can damage the ozone layer.

My Opinion Overall, I think the change from the icebox to a mechanical refrigerator is good because it kept food colder so people didn t get sick.

People s lives were changed in a negative way because it sometimes gave blurry images.

Hubble Telescope (Space) The Hubble telescope looked big, long and the mirror was 94.5 inches. It worked by recording images in space. It was created around the 1990 s by a company called NASA. People s lives were changed in a positive way because it didn t usually take bad pictures and because it orbits around Earth s atmosphere. People s lives were changed in a negative way because NASA had to rebuild the Hubble telescope because the primary mirror was made wrong.

My Opinion Overall, I think the change from the Galileo s telescope to the Hubble telescope is a positive change because the Hubble telescope took better pictures.

INTRODUCTION The telescope is used for seeing stars and constellations. Over time it has changed from Newton telescope to Hubble telescope. Newton s telescope. Picture from ebook Hubble telescope. Picture from ebook

NEWTON S TELESCOPE (REFLECTING) The telescope looked like a big thick tube with an eye piece at the front and a piece of glass at the end. It worked by mirrors so the light could bounce off the mirrors. It was created around 1668 by by Newton. People s lives were changed in a positive way because they could see constellations and planets and stars. People s lives were changed in a negative way because they were scared of it because they thought the moon was flat but it was round.

HUBBLE TELESCOPE (SPACE) The Hubble Telescope looked like a kaleidoscope with a wheel at the bottom. It worked by using satellites and computers. The computers were used for taking images. It was launched on April 25, 1990 by N.A.S.A. People s lives were changed in a positive way because they could see things in space more clearly. People s lives were changed in a negative way because the first time it was launched the images were blurry. The telescope is expensive and hard to fix.

MY OPINION Overall, I think the change from Newton s telescope to the Hubble telescope is positive because we can see images far away and it is not blurry at all.

NEWTON S TELESCOPE (REFLECTING) The telescope looked like a thick cylinder with a eye piece. It worked because the light bounced on a mirror and it bounces on another mirror so you can see. It was created around 1668 by Sir Isaac Newton. People s lives were changed in a positive way because they could see stuff far away better. People s lives were changed in a negative way because they were scared of it.

Refrigerators Kendall

Introduction The refrigerator is used for keeping food cool. Over time it has changed from the ice box to the mechanical refrigerator. Ice box. Picture from ebook Mechanical with motor. Picture from ebook

The Ice Box The ice box looked like a big box with cabinets on the front. It worked by a big block/cube of ice. It was created around 1800 s by Dr. William Cullen. People s lives were changed in a positive way because now you can freeze stuff in the winter. People s lives were changed in a negative way because the drip pan spilled a lot. Refrigerators now are very expensive.

The Mechanical Refrigerator The mechanical refrigerator looked like a big white box with a motor on top that looked like a steering wheel. It worked by the big motor. It was created around the 1900 s by Fred Wolf. People s lives were changed in a positive way because before people could get very sick because the ice cube could melt and the food could get spoiled. People s lives were changed in a negative way because there was dangerous, bad and weird chemicals inside.

My Opinion Overall, I think the change from the ice box to the mechanical refrigerator is negative because in the mechanical refrigerator the chemicals could spill and people could get sick from eating the food.
