UNIVERSAL PNEUMATIC TRANSDUCER FEATURES Non-bleed device (no air consumption in steady state) 3-15 PSI adjustable. Internal accurate closed loop control Optional pressure feedback signal Jumper selectable analog inputs DIP switch selectable pulse & phase cut inputs, direct or reverse action Does not require instrument quality air Unaffected by mounting position Manual positioning adjustment Bleeds output on power loss Optional custom signal ranges APPLICATIONS 0 to 20 ma to pneumatic 0 to 10 V to pneumatic PWM to pneumatic Tri-state floating to pneumatic Phase cut to pneumatic DESCRIPTION The accepts all standard analog input signals, including phase cut, as well as digital pulse width modulated (PWM) and tri-state floating (FLT) inputs and converts them into a variable pneumatic output. It uses state of the art micro controller and sensor technology that give it superior control system performance. The universal input allows the user to utilize the same unit in virtually all applications; and when a field change is required, the can be user reconfigured without requiring a change out. OPERATION Two half-wave, filtered, and regulated supplies provide power to the on-board circuitry. The uses an embedded micro controller and pressure sensor in a closed loop algorithm that modulates the output pressure. The micro controller interprets the input signals and compares that with the sensor input. The output is modulated using Pneutronics solenoid valves to regulate the output pressure. The analog input may be configured to accept 0-10V DC, 0 to 5V DC, or 0 to 20 ma by making a jumper selection. The pulse inputs will accept pulse width modulated, or tri-state floating signals at time bases of 5, 10, 25, 60, 120, and 255 seconds. One of the pulse inputs may be configured to accept a 10 to 90% phase cut signal. DIP switch settings select pulse input type and time base. FIELD SETUP AND CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS The has a three position jumper and an eight position DIP switch that are used to select between analog or pulsed inputs, and the time base for the pulsed input signals. The three position jumper selects the type of analog input. By making one of three jumper positions located next to terminal block position 8, the analog input can be configured for; 4 to 20 ma, 0 to 5V DC, and 0 to 10V DC. These jumpers are marked as ma, 5, and 10. If a pulse or phase cut input is used, then the analog input should be configured for one of the three options. Do not remove the selection jumper completely or the analog input will float high causing the output to float high also. The DIP switches 1-8 are used to select: pulse or phase cut input, time base, as well as high or low volume output, and reverse or direct operation. The truth tables below show the dip switch settings for each possible selection. A logic 0 is the OFF or OPEN switch position. Note that the DIP switch is marked as to which side is OPEN. When the switch is down towards the side marked OPEN then it is in the logic 0 state. DIP switch position 1 (SW1) is used to select either high or low volume output operation. With the switch in the 0 position, the output is set to low volume operation. This is for positioners or valves with volumes of less than 18 cubic inches. With the switch in the 1 position, the output is set to high volume operation. This is for valves and damper actuators with volumes of greater than 18 cubic inches. DIP switch position 2 (SW2) is used to select either pulsed or phase cut input. The switch needs to be in the 0 position for phase cut inputs and position 1 for pulse width modulated or three point floating inputs. DIP switch positions 3 & 4 (SW3 & SW4) are used to select the pulse input type or a phase cut input. The table below outlines the settings for each input type: SW3 SW4 INPUT TYPE 0 0 10 to 90% Phase cut input 0 1 Three point floating input 1 0 Continuous pulse width modulated 1 1 Directed pulse width modulated input DIP switch position 5 (SW5) is used to select direct or reverse operation. The switch needs to be in the 0 position for direct control. When the switch is in the 1 position, the output will be reversed. DIP switch positions 6, 7, and 8 (SW6, SW7, & SW8) are used to setup the pulsed input time base: SW6 SW7 SW8 TIMING 0 0 0 2.5 SECONDS 0 0 1 5 SECONDS 0 1 0 10 SECONDS 0 1 1 25 SECONDS 1 0 0 60 SECONDS 1 0 1 120 SECONDS 1 1 0 255 SECONDS 1 1 1 CUSTOM TIME If you have a different application or need, please call 801-261-3600 and discuss your needs with our Applications Engineers.
