CHURCH COUNCIL NOMINEES November 4, 2018 SUSAN BOLLINGER Susan earned a Bachelor of Music from Peabody Conservatory and a Masters in Music from Hartt College of University of Hartford. She did PhD studies at New York University and University of Maryland and studied business at the University of Baltimore. She is now retired. She served in a position in bookkeeping and accounting at the Board of World Missions, Lutheran Church in America; Maryland/DEC Systems Programmer and Computer Operations Supervisor, Baltimore County; Senior Programmer-Analyst (mainframe) and Work Order Manager ending, at Lockheed Martin, contracted to Social Security Administration. She enjoys cooking, reading and cats. She is currently on the Council and Treasurer of Holy Comforter and is often in our kitchen or the sacristy serving on Altar Guild or as a Eucharistic Minister or usher! She has one daughter (of Heart) Alexis Brooks. DOTTIE DOEPKE Dottie received an AA degree from Villa Julie College, now Stevenson University. She is retired after 16 and a half years with the Baltimore Sun, 25 and a half years with the University of Maryland, Baltimore and three years as the Parish Administrator of Holy Comforter. She also enjoyed working 18 years backstage at the Baltimore Opera Company. She enjoys classical music, opera and spending time with her church family and brothers Bill and Dave Snyder. You can often find her in the kitchen, in addition to singing in our church choir, occasionally as a soloist. She is on the Council and serves on the Altar Guild and as a Eucharistic Minister. She fills in for our Parish Administrator when needed.
GARETH JUSTIN DOWDING Justin received a MBA & MPA from Morgan State University & the University of Baltimore. He is currently the Team Coordinator for the Accounting Department at Unlimited Restoration Limited. Before coming back to Baltimore last year, he was the Marketing and I.T. Manager FosRich Company Limited in Jamaica. Justin enjoys watching sports, exercising and food! Justin led the youth group several years ago at Nativity and is glad to serve on the Vestry. He is our representative to the York Road Partnership and has volunteered on our Habitat for Humanity work team. His parents are Sam and Margaret Dowding. SUE FOWLER Sue served as Supervisor of General Services and Security at the Community College of Baltimore County. She enjoys photography, travel, gardening, reading, crafting, quilting and all things Disney! She and her husband Bill enjoy spending time with their four grown children and five grandchildren. She is currently on the Vestry and enjoys decorating the church for Christmas, and the quilting group. On some evenings and weekends, you can find her painting and helping Bill and Craig with various buildings and grounds projects around the church. She also serves on the CCBC retiree picnic committee and spent 15 years in girl scout leadership and 8 years on women s expo committee. DICK PERRY Dick was born and raised in Govans, a lifetime member of Holy Comforter. He graduated from Poly, received his BSME degree from the University of Delaware and a business degree from Johns Hopkins before beginning a 35-year career as Principal Engineer at BG&E. Now retired, Dick is a member of the Board of Directors at Augsburg Village and serves as a member of Vestry/Council, ushers, is a counter, and prepares statements of annual giving in the church computer.
JOHN NEFFERDORF John studied Computer Science and now works at the Social Security Administration Headquarters as Instructional Design and Training Team Leader. He served the United States Marine Corps for six years, achieving the rank of Sergeant. John enjoys spending time with his family at home and while traveling. He s a great cook, baker and likes robotics. He is an usher at the late service, and regularly makes sandwiches for the homeless at Springwell with his wife Mona and sons Brandon and Aiden. They support various church activities such as game night, Mardi Gras, June Fair and silent auctions by assisting with food, decorations, setup, sale items, or advertising materials. MARY B. SCHWARTZ Mary is now retired from librarianship. She enjoys researching her family history and reading. She is interested in animals and their welfare, the environment (a life member of The Sierra Club) and travel. She helps many individuals in her neighborhood and the church. You ll regularly find her at the Thursday morning Bible Study or around the jigsaw puzzle in the church foyer. She looks forward to a chance to serve her church family. Mary hails from New York, where she has many friends and several cousins. Her husband Jeff passed away two years ago. ELLIE SHARKEY Ellie is retired but serves as the part time administrative secretary/office manager at Saint Andrew Lutheran Church on Taylor Avenue. Prior to retirement, she was administrative assistant/paralegal to the managing partner of a large Baltimore law firm. Ellie loves cooking & planning ethnic dinner parties & has enjoyed helping with preparations for dinners at our church, as well as planning & baking for our June Fair for the past few years. She is also on the Vestry and is grateful for all the love and support after her recent knee replacement.
KARI ARDOLINO RUDGERS Kari earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Speech from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Management from Yale University, School of Drama. She has worked with Disney, ABC-Television, Warner Bros. and AOL. She enjoys singing, cooking and knitting, as well as spending time with her husband, Kyle and young daughters, Josie and Sasha. Kari is Cathleen's Crew team captain for the National Brain Tumor Society Race for Hope (in memory of their daughter, Cathleen). Kari taught Sunday School and served as the Communications Chair on the Vestry of Christ Episcopal Church Kensington (includin a Rector search and the communications related to calling a new Rector). She is new to our community in the past year or so and feels particularly at home here, as someone who was baptized and raised Lutheran and became Episcopalian as an adult.
