April 18, 2018 Dear OAA Members The John Muir Hospital Show comes down on Friday April 20 th, please be sure to pick up your art at 4pm in Temescal Regional Recreational Area Parking lot at 6500 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94618. A map is attached for your information. The Photo Show at the Law Library comes down on Monday April 30 th, please pick up your entries at the Library between 10am and 11am. Everyone is always welcome at our OAA Board Meetings, which are usually held on the last Friday of the month. Our next meeting will be at the Rockridge Café on Friday April 27th some will gather at 10 am for breakfast but the meeting itself will start about 10:45 am. If you would like to attend, please respond by email so we can reserve a seat for you. We didn t get the hoped-for response for volunteers to help plan the two receptions we will host this summer at the August Orinda Library Show and the September City Hall Show. These are not going to be a lot of work, but they will require a few members help to make them happen. Please respond to this email with if you can help with one or both receptions. OAA member Iris Sabre wants us all to know about the upcoming Paint Out at the Benicia Plein Air Gallery at 307 First Street in Benicia. This year will be the 3rd Annual Benicia Plein Air Paint Out and will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2018. JUROR: TBD ACCEPTED WORKS: Pick up at the Alameda County Law Library on Friday August 31st 2018 between 10 am and 11:30 am. ENTRIES: Up to 3 entries will be accepted per member. Most of entries will be 12 x 12 min. up to 30 x 30 max. - nominal size including mats. This venue will allow several larger pieces (up to 48 x 48 ), please contact the Show Chairman in advance to reserve one of these spots for you large work. Works restricted to original work no class work or copies. All work must be for sale. All work having won cash awards in any OAA show are not eligible to receive another cash award, but may receive a merit award. ENTRY FEE: $8.00 per entry. FRAMING: Frames must be clean, sturdy and no protruding screw eyes or hangers will be allowed. Works larger than 24 x 30 (if covered) must be under plastic instead of glass. ENTRY FORMS: Must be filled out completely and affixed to the upper left-hand corner on the back of the entry. AWARDS: First award $100; Second award $50; Third award $25. Merit awards are given at the discretion of the Juror. INSURANCE: A waiver must be signed on receiving day. SALES: All sales made during the show and/or 30days following the close of the show (if the work was seen by the buyer at the show) will be handled by the Sales Chair (Tina Nelson 925 256-6849). OAA policy is that no change will be made in the price (in connection with this show) after the work is accepted. The artist agrees that 30% of the sale price will be taken as a contribution to OAA. Sales tax of 9.25% will be added to all sales.

Enter parking lot from Hampel Street. JUROR: TBA ACCEPTED WORKS: Pick up at 10am on a September 14 th, 2018 at the Presbyterian Church. ENTRIES: Up to 2 entries will be accepted per member. Entries will be two dimensional; 12 x 12 min. and 36 x 36 max. - nominal size including mats. Artworks depicting iconic scenes of San Francisco are not appropriate for this venue! If entered, artwork in this category may be rejected at the sole discretion of the show chairman. Because only 7 large (i.e. over 24 X30 ) works can be displayed in the show space, only the first 7 large pieces will be accepted, unless specifically allowed by the Show Chair. Works restricted to original work no class work or copies. Nudes and political statements are not accepted (venue requirement). All work must be for sale. The Chamber reserves the right to reject any work from the show for any reason. Any work shown at a Chamber of Commerce Show prior to December 2012 may be shown again at this show. Any work having won a cash award in any OAA show is not eligible to receive another cash award but may receive a merit award. To be entered as a single work, any grouping of 2 or more works must be mounted within a single frame which meets the overall size requirements. ENTRY FEE: $8.00 per entry. This is an early announcement; an official invitation for art will be coming out soon. Volunteers are also welcome. This show is open to high school students and those 45 years or older. Mon. April 16, Deadline: Submit images, completed participant form and other information. Thu. April 26,10 am -2 pm: Drop off art at 150 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Oakland. The 12 th Street BART station is nearby. Street parking may be difficult, but there are several public parking places. Thur. May 31, 10 am 2 pm: Pickup art.
