Mission Critical DAS Solution In-Building Cellular Satellite Phone Coverage Mission Critical DAS solution for In-Building Systems provides a simple, low-cost, limitless bandwidth method to distribute multi-channel, cellular carriers via fiber. This unique solution includes Iridium Repeater indoor coverage. Features Benefits Mission Critical RU DAS cellular coverage Iridium Repeater Supports SISO (Single Input Single Output) and MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technologies Offers versatile and modular platform for future expansion Enables local or remote SNMP-based monitoring and control Supports redundant power supply for each BU First in the world Iridium Repeater with indoor coverage combined with DAS Includes carrier class equipment that is easy to install and configure Significant savings on equipment and installation costs due to high RF output power Robust solution with redundancy Reduced installation and configuration time Lower maintenance costs due to remote access

System Configuration Applications Fiber Optic Repeater for Iridium Phones / Mission Critical Applications Underground facilities Indoor coverage Submarines and Maritime facilities Oil rigs Corporate campuses Hospitals Airports and Railway stations Product Description Foxcom is offering a unique Mission Critical DAS solution for In-Building Systems (IBS), which boasts the best features in mobile and satellite phone technology. Foxcom s RF-over-Fiber link is the ideal solution to enable property owners and operators to install a cost-effective, scalable and manageable fiber-based Distributed Antenna System (DAS) on ships, oil rigs, military bunkers, underground facilities and high-rise buildings. Leveraging more than two decades of RF-over-Fiber experience, Foxcom is at the forefront of developing advanced DAS solutions with real-time access to cellular and satellite communication networks in the event of an emergency or disaster. The solution meets all In-Building Wireless challenges, such as: Seamless wireless connectivity indoors 2

Easy integration into any building of any size without the need for re-wiring the network High quality calling experience Improved data rates and faster Internet browsing A communication lifeline in the event of an emergency/disaster Foxcom s hybrid DAS solution includes a full feature GSM, CDMA, UMTS and LTE cellular DAS platform required by mobile internet users and emergency response services plus an Iridium satellite phone indoor repeater. Foxcom s fully integrated optical solution provides a cost effective alternative to coax cable deployments. Harnessing the superior performance of fiber optics, Foxcom s repeater solution provides seamless Iridium coverage within any building of any size. Multiple indoor antennas can be used with the use of power dividers to extend the signal coverage. Iridium systems enable users to stay connected to the world at all times even if all primary communication networks are down. The Iridium handset does not require sky view to operate, so users can remain inside during an emergency. Iridium satellite handset users can make multiple and concurrent calls from a security control room underground or indoors. Users can now enjoy the many benefits that optical fiber has to offer, such as low RF transmission loss, improved signal quality, lightning protection, safety and ease of installation. DAS System Architecture Foxcom s Mission Critical DAS system consists of five main components: Base Unit (BU), Point of Interconnection (POI), Remote Unit (RU), Mission Critical Remote Unit (MCRU) and Mission Critical Outdoor Unit (ODU). Base Unit (BU) BU transceivers convert incoming signals from RF into optical, transmitting them along a single fiber to the RUs. Each transceiver is capable of supporting up to 8 RUs. The 19 chassis can accommodate up to 4 transceivers with full redundant, hot-swappable power supplies. Up to 32 RUs can be supported by a single BU. Point of Interconnection (POI) The POI is the interface between the BU and the Base Station (BTS) in the equipment room. The POI combines and conditions the incoming signals from several BTSs. The newly conditioned signal is then fed into multiple optical transceivers. The POI supports four bands, which are each supported by multiple carriers. Remote Unit (RU) A number of indoor antennae connect to the RU, transmitting all four cellular bands. The optical RU has a single RF and a single optical connector for SISO systems (Single Input Single Output). For multi-antennae technology (MIMO) the RU has two RF connectors and two optical connectors. The high RF output power of the RU supports multiple antennae, resulting in significant savings on equipment and installation costs. Mission Critical Remote Unit (MCRU) The MCRU is one unit providing cellular and Iridium technology. The MCRU is located within or collocated with the control room; two Iridium antennae installed in the control room are connected to this MCRU. To provide cellular coverage, other DAS antennae are also connected to this MCRU. Mission Critical Iridium Outdoor Unit (ODU) The ODU is installed on top of the building (indoor or outdoor). The two outdoor antennae must be installed with sky view. One pair of fiber optic cables connects the ODU with the MCRU. 3

Management and Control Monitoring and control of all important functions of the BU is done via the front panel LCD or an Ethernet connection. An Internet connection to the Ethernet port can be used for remote monitoring and control with full SNMP capability. System Block Diagram 4
