ASS 70.HI Lift/Sliding and Sliding Doors Installation Guide
2 Schueco ASS 70.HI Lift/Sliding and Sliding Doors Installation Guide Installation guide IMPORTANT The ASS 70.HI door should be fitted by competent and trained installers. Please read this guide thoroughly before beginning the installation and follow the instructions and recommendations to ensure that the door is fitted correctly and functions satisfactorily. Failure to do so may void any written or implied warranty. As regulations governing the use of glazed windows and doors may vary according to region, it is the responsibility of the building owner, architect, contractor or installer to ensure the selected products conform with all applicable codes and regulations. Preparation Tools: No special installation tools are required. Checking the opening The frame must be fitted plumb and level within the opening. Sizes given for manufacture of the frame should be the tightest point of the opening minus 10 mm fitting tolerance. The structural integrity of the lintel is critical for the proper functioning of the unit and must not be twisted. It is very important that the fixing ground for the cill is flat, even and perfectly level. The sides of the opening should be plumb and square. A laser or other similar precise measuring equipment is useful to check these requirements. To avoid later problems do not install the unit until the opening has been fully and correctly prepared. Please refer to your order confirmation for opening direction/door leaf information.
ASS 70.HI Lift/Sliding and Sliding Doors Installation Guide Schueco 3 Identification of door type The ASS 70.HI is available as a sliding door or a lift/sliding door. Sliding doors have shorter operating handles which turn 90 0 and brush pile in the bottom edges of the leaves. Longer operating handles are used on lift/sliding doors which rotate180 0 together with epdm gasket on the leaf bottom edges. The doors are available with single, double or triple tracks in the following configurations: Unit type: single track Type 1A Type 1B Type 1D Unit type: double track Type 2A Type 2A/1 Type 2B Type 2C Type 2D Type 2D/1 Unit type: triple track Type 3E Type 3E/1 Type 3F Note: In single track designs the sliding leaves are outside. In double and triple track designs the sliding leaves are inside.

ASS 70.HI Lift/Sliding and Sliding Doors Installation Guide Schueco 5 Outer frames There are three types of outer frame single track with the fixed glazing built into the frame with a mullion, double track and triple track. With the double and triple track versions the fixed leaves are the same as the sliding leaves but screw fixed into the outer frame with distance blocks. Single track outer frame (fixed glazing built-in) Outside Double track outer frame Triple track outer frame Installation of outer frame into opening Place the frame in the opening and adjust until the frame is square, plumb and level. The top and bottom tracks must be parallel and the jambs must not be offset from each other. It is very important to fit the outer frame correctly otherwise problems may be encountered when fitting the door leaves. Where possible use Schueco fixing lugs Art. No. 227 556 which are attached to the grooves in the outer frame. Alternatively use 10 mm dia. fixing dowels to suit sub-structure. Always fix through the aluminium and not the thermal break. Make sure that the opening direction has been taken into account and that the water drain holes face to the outside. Fixing lug Art. No. 227 556 10 mm dia.dowel fixing

ASS 70.HI Lift/Sliding and Sliding Doors Installation Guide Schueco 7 Installation of outer frame fixing the head and jambs Fixings should start at 150 mm from the corners, utilising plastic packers as necessary to make sure the frame is level and plumb in the opening. Then fix at maximum 600 mm centres until the frame is fully secured all round. Use fixing lugs in preference to dowels. If fixing dowels are used then position under cover profiles in jambs and cill. Seal the holes in the cill before inserting dowel as water is drained in this area. In the head, dowels can be fixed under the guide rail. 8 Schueco ASS 70.HI Lift/Sliding and Sliding Doors Installation Guide Fixed leaf installation (double and triple track doors) Remove the interlock cover profiles 1 from the fixed and sliding leaves prior to installation. Check that door stop 2 and distance blocks 3 have been factory fitted to the fixed leaf. Distance blocks and door stop 3 1 3 1 2 3 Lift the fixed leaf up into head frame and drop onto the distance blocks which are already screwed to jamb (x2) and cill (x2). Slide leaf towards jamb to engage on distance blocks. Fix leaf into outer frame through the prepared holes with 4.8 x 80 mm screws, ensuring leaf is seated correctly at cill. The last distance block is then slid into the top of the leaf. Caution: when engaging leaves into head make sure that distance blocks 3 do not become dislodged. Fitting the cover profiles Apply cover profiles to interlock styles 1, outer frame jambs 4 and 5, threshold 6. There is no threshold cover if all leaves slide. 4 < slider fixed 1 1 5 6 outside 4 5 6
ASS 70.HI Lift/Sliding and Sliding Doors Installation Guide Schueco 9 Sliding leaf installation, all types Before inserting the sliding leaf check that tolerance pieces 4 are located in top of leaf. There will be 2 or 3 pairs, depending on leaf width. 4 4 4 Insert the sliding leaf into head and lower onto rollers at cill. Slide leaf and check correct vertical alignment of interlocks. Check locking operation. When operation is correct, fit anti-lift blocks 5 in head frame above sliding leaf. 5 Note that rollers are not adjustable. Important With bi-parting lift/sliding doors the master leaf must be unlocked, raised and moved first, after which the secondary leaf can be operated. To close, the secondary leaf must be closed first and lowered followed by the master leaf. 150 2x 150 The door can now be glazed (see page 11).
10 Schueco ASS 70.HI Lift/Sliding and Sliding Doors Installation Guide Installation of single track doors Single track doors differ from double and triple track doors in that the sliding leaf is on the outside and the fixed glazing unit is inserted directly into the frame which incorporates a mullion. 12 Schueco ASS 70.HI Lift/Sliding and Sliding Doors Installation Guide Sealing Cavities between frame and wall should be packed with mineral wool and a silicone seal applied around the outside perimeter of the frame. To facilitate the quality of the perimeter seal, a suitably dimensioned polyethylene backing rod should first be inserted. The sealant manufacturer s instructions should be followed. Sealing and/or the addition of trims around the internal frame perimeter should be carried out as appropriate. Mineral wool Polyethelene backing rod Silicone seal
