Making Inferences About CHARACTER TRAITS 24 Task Cards!

Ways to Use Task Cards 1. Model to the class how to use clues to make inferences. 2. Set the cards out around the room and have students go on a scavenger hunt. 3. Give each student a card to answer at their own desk. Then, have the students leave the card at their desk while they move to the desk next to them. Continue until all the cards have been answered. 4. Have partners answer the questions together 1 person reads the card, while the other person writes the answer on the answer sheet. For the next card, have the students switch roles! 5. Have early finishers complete the task cards.

When Antonio walked into the classroom, he accidently bumped into the door frame. He took a few more steps and then tripped over a chair leg and fell flat on his face. The fourth of July is Andy s favorite holiday. Every year, he puts American flags out in his front yard to help celebrate. Bryan s mom asked him to load the dishes into the dishwasher, and Brian replied, Do I have to? On his way to the dishwasher, Brian rolled his eyes at his mom and stomped his feet angrily. describes Patricia? describes Bryan? 11 12

When Nicole got home from school, she immediately sat down to do her homework. Then, she vacuumed and dusted her bedroom. When her mom got home from work, Nicole helped her get dinner ready. Jim played every sport he could, including basketball, baseball, soccer, and tennis. P.E. was his favorite class in school. Whenever his mom asked him to clean his room, he would simply hide everything under the bed. All of her folders were properly labeled, and her markers and crayons fit perfectly into her crayon box. Shantell was able to find anything she needed very quickly. The tornado siren went off one night when Katie was at home alone with her baby sister Em. Katie was terrified, but she knew she should protect Em. Desmond looked down at the ground as he walked through the hallway. He was nervous about talking to people that he didn t know, and he was trying to avoid making eye contact with any of the other students. Jaquandis found a wallet on the ground. It had $100 in it!
