LaJoia Broughton Director of External Communications Retirement System Investment Committee Columbia LaJoia was recently named Director of External Communications for South Carolina Retirement System Investment Commission. A marketing, communications, and media relations professional, LaJoia has assisted numerous Midlands employers in addition to launching Alpha Business Essentials where she serves principal. A graduate of Furman University in Communications Studies, LaJoia earned a Masters in Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina. She is also a graduate of the University of Richmond s Robins School of Business Executive Management Program. Christian Corts South Carolina Corporate Banking Manager BB&T Greenville Christian is responsible for the management and optimization of all corporate banking functions within South Carolina for BB&T. This scope includes, but is not limited to, the administration of the corporate loan portfolio, corporate deposit acquisitions, the development and acquisition of new clients, and the delivery of noncredit services to the corporate market. Ted also has a substantial practice counseling and litigating on behalf of employment clients, and colleges and universities. He received his Bachelor s degree from Wake Forest University, spent a year as a Fulbright Scholar in Germany, and earned a law degree from the Yale Law School. Ted s wife and all 3 children graduated from private colleges, including a daughter who recently graduated from Lou Kennedy President, Chief Executive Officer and Owner Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation West Columbia Lou joined Nephron Pharmaceuticals in 2001, and accepted the position of President and Chief Executive Officer in September 2007. In the years following, she helped Nephron Pharmaceuticals grow by 300%, and in 2014, built a state of the art manufacturing facility in West Columbia. A graduate of the University of South Carolina s College of Journalism, Lou belongs to many civic organizations including the Columbia College Board of Trustees. Along with her husband Bill, Lou Kennedy helped establish the Kennedy Pharmacy Innovation Center in conjunction with the USC School of Pharmacy.

Brad Love Shareholder Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. Greenville Brad is a shareholder in the Greenville office of Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. where he has practiced public finance law for the past 18 years, handling municipal bond transactions for municipalities, counties, special purpose districts, hospitals and colleges. He serves as co-leader of the Firm s Public Finance Practice Group. A graduate of Presbyterian College, Brad earned his JD degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. Brad currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Greenville Humane Society and is a past-president of the Patewood Memorial Hospital Advisory Council. James McFadden Avionics Manager Interstate Turbine Management Summerville James served for almost 10 years with the U.S. Marine Corps as a communications/navigation technician and as an instructor in aviation electronics (avionics), mathematics, and general military aviation fundamentals. After leaving the Marines, James earned a BS in Management and an MBA degree from Southern Wesleyan University. An Avionics Manager and master avionics technician with Interstate Turbine Management, James is responsible for the leadership, organization, and management of technicians, inspectors, and related work between all departments for all general aviation electronics and avionics systems and sub-systems, including communications, navigations, radar, and autopilot on many different general aviation aircraft.

Chakisse Newton Principal Cardinal Consulting Company Columbia Chakisse is the founder and President of Cardinal Consulting Company, which provides business development strategy, marketing consulting, and planning to clients. Prior to founding Cardinal Consulting in 2006, Chakisse held marketing leadership positions with Midlands Technical College, i2 Technologies, LexiCode, Cyberwoven, and others. Chakisse is a graduate of 2011 Leadership Columbia and is a past board chair of Columbia Opportunity Resource. Her other board involvement includes the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce and serving as the Sponsorship chair on the Campaign Committee for the United Way of the Midlands. She holds a BA in International Relations from Boston University. Walter Shealy Financial Consultant Shealy Consulting Group LLC, WDS Investments, Inc. Newberry Walter is the Founder and CEO at Shealy Consulting Group and Founder and Chairman at WDS Investments in Newberry. An experienced financial services professional with over 40 years in banking, capital markets, insurance, and real estate, Walter was formerly CEO at GVG Holding Co. and ITC Holding Co. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Boys Farm, a residential program for boys founded in 1960 by his parents. Walter is a graduate of Presbyterian College and is rejoining the Board after serving two terms from 2005 to 2011.

David Smalls Director Colleton County Legislative Delegation Walterboro David works with SC Senate and House members representing Colleton County to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county government, local municipalities, state government, elected officials, and the general public. A graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Marketing, David is the former State Director of Communities in Schools of South Carolina. He also served 3 years as CEO of the Walterboro-Colleton Chamber of Commerce. David is a graduate of the inaugural class of both the Liberty Fellowship and the Riley Institute s Lowcountry Diversity Leaders Initiative. Tricia Wharton Whitener Attorney Whitener and Wharton, P.A. Columbia Tricia rejoins the SCICU Board after an absence of several years. During her time on the Board, she was chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Executive Committee. An attorney in private practice, Tricia specializes in the areas of commercial and residential real estate transactions, finance, and development as well as corporate, banking, wills and estates. She received a BA from the University of South Carolina and a JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Tricia is a member of the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.

Dale Willis Global General Manager, Cable Management Business Milliken & Company Spartanburg Dale has over 20 years of experience in specialty chemicals and building materials in the consumer and industrial markets. He is currently the Global General Manager for Milliken s Cable Management Business unit in Spartanburg. Dale is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a degree in Civil Engineering. He spent 4 years on active duty in Germany as an Army platoon leader and Battalion Intelligence Officer. Dale earned a MBA degree from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH.
