PRESS RELEASE for immediate attention April 2012 Press contact: David Denyer 07976 646 404 david@ddpr.co.uk Gamut launch M inent Series in the UK The newest addition to the Gamut portfolio is the M inent Series. Beautiful both to look at and to listen to, the M inent is an attractively priced masterpiece. The exquisite quality of design, parts and craftsmanship is reminiscent of the no-holdsbarred El Superiores series, yet the M inent Series is presented at a fraction of the cost. Enclosure construction The Gamut M inent Series uses complex impulse optimised bass reflex enclosures with exotic real wood veneers on a laminated curved MDF structure. Internal bracing and pressure control segments optimise the acoustic behaviour of the external surfaces. Internal acoustics Internal pressure guidance and control are achieved by way of acoustic damping positioned on the horizontal fan-shaped reinforcement structures, as well as the full height vertical reinforcement structure. These critically positioned structures timealign the coupling to the port openings to achieve optimum dynamic linearity and acoustic damping. The low resonance bass reflex opening is terminated in a low turbulence stainless steel wave- Drive units Bass drivers are optimised for maximum low frequency control and output. All wood fibre cones are hand-treated for enhanced cone behaviour. Midrange drivers are optimised for maximum resonance control and dynamic linearity by using a 10-piece sliced cone, a patented symmetric drive magnet system and a proprietary dynamic linear suspension. Additionally the midrange drive units are hand-treated with a specially developed compound that minimises coloration and optimises the natural reproduction of voices and instruments. The tweeter is a double ring radiator that is by design extremely low in diaphragm coloration. The M inent version is further optimised for lower levels of coloration and
optimum resolution and linearity by using an ultra low distortion magnet system; a die cast aluminium outer wave guide/front plate and an optimally shaped stainless steel central wave guide, and an acoustic foam damped rear chamber. Input terminals The Gamut designed and machined gold plated bronze and aluminium terminals allow for both bi-wiring and bi-amping. They provide a minimum loss bare wire connection, as well as connection by either 8 mm spades or 4 mm banana plugs. Page 2 network The M inent crossover network is designed as a Non Resonant Linked Impulse solution (NRLI). The NRLI network is designed to operate in the time domain to optimise integration between drivers, and simultaneously modify and control the resonant interaction between itself, the drivers and the enclosure load. The acoustic behaviour is between 1st order and 2nd order, but the NRLI cannot really be categorised, as either as the component count to achieve the NRLI is much higher than typical textbook networks. The DC Coupled Midrange (DCCM) solution is added to the NRLI when used in the 3-way M inent 7.The DCCM eliminates phase shift between the midrange and woofers, preventing fundamental tones from instruments and voices from being corrupted by multiple drivers reproducing them. The DCCM uses a combination of serial and parallel networks to allow in phase counteracting current to lower the midrange driver excursion at low frequencies, thereby achieving perfect timing between the midrange and woofer. Internal wiring: Gamut WormHole cables A new Gamut development: the WormHole allows unwanted stored energy to dynamically terminate to ground. This optimises the impulse behaviour and eliminates resonances from being created in the cable itself. The WormHole design consists of individual insulated conductors, with a special surrounding woven material. In the WormHole Signature solution a secondary woven cover with integrated pure copper threads further optimises the termination of stored energy. The WormHole design channels unwanted stored energy away from the signal path. Front cover The front cover is a minimum flow disturbance design precision machined from MDF with stainless steel mounting posts and an acoustically transparent fabric cover. Base and spikes The base is machined from solid MDF and painted in a grey metallic automotive finish. The stainless steel spike system is designed to be easy to adjust and to lock.
