Place hinges in desired position on gate ensuring strap is horizontal. Fix with screws provided. 2. Position gate in opening and support, allowing correct clearances between gate and post. 3. Fasten hinge to post/frame with screws provided. Medium Strap Hinges 1. Fix hinge to gate in desired position with screws provided. 2. Position gate in opening and wedge in place. 3. Fix hinges with screws provided. 4. Insert the adjustable gate eyes into the hinge bands and screw the nuts in hand tight. Ensure both gate eyes are approximately in line with each other. 5. Position the door/gate in opening and support in the desired position ensuring sufficient clearance gaps between the gate/ door and the frame. Insert the hooks into the adjustable gate eyes. Adjust gate eyes so hooks are in the desired position on the frame/post. Fasten hooks with screws provided. (NOTE: Top hook can be inverted for security purposes.) 6. Remove supports and adjust the door/ gate as necessary and tighten the nuts securely using an adjustable spanner. 7. Grease pins for smooth operation. Fix the bands to the gate in the desired position using the screws and bolts provided. 2. Offer the gate/door up to the posts allowing for a suitable gap between the ground and the bottom of the gate and wedge in the correct position. 3. Fix the gate eyes to the bands so that they are secured finger tight halfway along the threaded shank. 4. Put the hooks on plates into the eyes & fix with the screws provided. One hook can be reversed for security. 5. Hang the gate on the single hook and position the other hook. Adjust the gate eyes to ensure the gate/door is level and tighten all nuts using an adjustable spanner. 6. Grease for smooth operation. Curved Rail Hinge: 1. Place the hinges onto the door/gate in the desired positions adjusting the overhang of the bands so the pins are central on the post or door frame. Pivot the bands so they are central on the rail of the gate. Drill 12mm holes and fix with the bolts provided. 2. Place the door/gate into position and support allowing correct clearances between the post/frame. 3. Place the hook on plates into the hinge socket and fix to the post. 4. Position shoot retainer plate as desired with the bottom of the drop bolt flush with the bottom of the door/gate & fix with the screws provided. 3. Slide bolt guides onto bottom of drop bolt and fasten in desired positions with screws provided. The top guide should be placed low enough to allow the bolt to drop at least 2. 4. Slide bolt guides onto bottom of drop bolt and fasten in desired positions with screws provided. The top guide should be placed low enough to allow the bolt to drop at least 50mm. 4. Let bolt drop onto the floor and mark the position where hole should be drilled. Now drill a hole large enough to accept the bolt and at least 50mm deep. 5. Fix tubular socket in hole with cement. Floor plate is also included if needed; place floor plate over hole and secure to floor with screws. 6. Locate locking staple on gate and secure in slot of drop bolt. Fix with screws provided. Ornamental Forged Drop Bolt: 1. Place retainer plate onto the door/gate and insert the drop bolt in the locked position. 2. Normally when the shoot is raised it should be in line with the bottom of the gate. 2. Fix the second guide to the bottom of the gate in the desired position with the screws provided normally about 25mm from the bottom. 3. Drill a 19mm hole to receive the shoot and fix the shoot receiver plate with the screws provided. Chain Bolt: 1. Fix the bolt to the gate/door in the desired position using the screws provided. 2. If a receiver staple is being used, push the shoot of the bolt upward so that it lies against the frame. Fit the staple over the shoot and secure with the screws provided. 3. If using a receiver plate, use a sharp Foot Bolt: 1. Fix the bolt to the gate/door in the desired position using the screws provided. 2. Drill a hole in the floor to receive the shoot and fix the square receiver plate with the screws provided. Bow Handle Bolt/Monkey Tail Bolt: 1. Fix the bolt to the gate/door in the desired position using the screws provided. 2. Drill a hole to receive the shoot and fix the square receiver plate with the screws provided. Shoot Bolt: 1. Place the shoot bolt on the inside of the 40-50mm 6 & 8 Gate Latch: NOTE: on 5-8 Twisted & Plain Ring Gate Latches, keep slot and catch plate will be offset. 1. Drill a 12mm hole in required position for the spindle. (The spindle should be located such that allows the latch to overlap on to the door/gate frame by 40-50mm). Insert spindle into hole. 2. Install the ring gate handles on either side of the door/gate and secure mounting plates with screws provided (NOTE: Spindle included will accommodate up to a 100mm door/gate. Smaller door/gate will require the spindle to be cut down.) 3. Slide the keep at least 50mm along latch or until it is entirely on the door/gate ensuring that latch is level when resting on bottom of keep slot. Fasten with screws provided. 4. Position and fasten catch plate to door/ gate frame ensuring that the latch rests securely in hook. 4 2015-16

With the latch tail still level (resting on keep), position and fasten catch to door/ gate frame with screws provided. Self Locking Gate Catch / Hunting Type Locking Gate Catch: 1. Fit the striker to the gate. 2. Position the latch on the post so it engages the striker. 3. Drill pilot holes and fix with coach screws provided. Suffolk Latches: NOTE: to be used on gates up to 3 ½ thick. Dimensions are given for guidance only. Individual doors/gates may require adjustments of some or all dimensions. Thicker doors/gates may require a longer slot. 1. Establish a desired position of thumb piece, normally about 1200mm from ground level. Measure to the centre of the style and mark a vertical line 40mm long. Drill a 12mm hole at each end of the line and drill or cut out to make a slot 40 x 12mm. 2. From the front, pass the thumb bit through the slot ensuring it is positioned so that it can be raised and lowered to its fullest extent. Also, it should fall back under its own weight when raised. Secure back plate with screws provided. 3. Moving to back of the door/gate, position the latch tail so that it is level Kenham Gate Catch: 1. Fix plate to the door/gate with approximately 10mm protruding. 2. Align latch on door frame, 10mm back from the edge of the frame. 3. Fix with screws provided. Kick Over Stable Latch: 1. Fix the latch bar to the door with the straight end extending 60mm. 2. Close the door and fix one of the catches to the frame under the latch bar so it holds it horizontal. 3. Fix the other catch to the door so it stops the latch when kicked at approx 30 degrees. Central Closing Gate Catch: 1. To be used in conjunction with spring fastener set, for gates hung between the posts. 2. Fit spring fastener arm to gate in desired position (supplied separately). 3. Fit central closing gate catch to post with coach screws provided (may need packing with washers or timber). Throwover Loop: 1. Close gates. 2. Align the latch in the desired position. 3. Drill 6mm hole and insert screw eye with chain attached to gate post in desired position. 2. Attach loose staple to gate in desired position. Door Knob Furniture: 1. Fit lock supplied separately if applicable. 2. Drill 10mm hole in gate/door and insert spindle. 3. Ensure free turning, insert door knob onto spindle and attach with screws provided. 4. Fit escutcheon plates if applicable. Letter Plate: 1. Place in desired position on door. 2. Mark position of fixing holes and drill 6mm hole. 3. Screw studs into the back of letter plate and insert into drilled holes. 4. Mark position of letter slot and cut with jigsaw. 5. Reinsert letter plate into holes and ensure free opening. 6. Determine the desired height for door knocker. 2. Locate the centre of the door and drill a 6mm hole 12mm down from where the top of where the door knocker will be. Drill all the way through the door. 3. Drill two more corresponding holes directly below the first one 87 130mm down respectively from the top hole. Drill all the way through the door. 4. While holding door knocker in place on outside of door, insert screws in top two holes from the inside of door and tighten. 5. Hold strike plate over bottom hole on outside of door and insert screw from inside of door and tighten. Rimlock 5400010: 1. Place lock on gate in desired position and mark holes for key and spindle. 2. Drill holes for key and spindle. 3. Fit lock with screws provided. Rimlock Furniture 5400020: 1. Insert spindle through case of lock and fit door knob with screws provided. 2. Ensure key holes line up with locks for smooth operation and fit escutcheon plates. OTHER PRODUCTS Cabin Hooks: 1. Fix the hook to the gate or post. 2. Align the staple with the hook and fix with screws provided. Casement Stay: 1. With window in closed position, establish desired position for hinged arm, normally central on window frame. 2. Fasten hinged arm to the window approximately 9.5mm above the internal frame with screws provided. 3. Place the two retaining pegs in position and engage to hinged arm (in the outer two holes). With the window firmly closed, mark the position of the retainers, lift arm and fix to frame with screws provided. LEFT GATE RIGHT GATE Gate Return Spring: 1. With gate/door in closed position, place on hinge side with top of spring to the right and bottom of spring to the left of hinge and as vertical as possible. Note: Top is adjustable bottom has fixed pin. Mark holes in top plate. Drill pilot holes and fasten with screws provided. 2. Repeat for bottom plate. 3. Galvanised: galvanising is the process of applying a coating of zinc to steel. In this catalogue when galvanised is stated, this refers to a hot dip galvanised finish (approximately 60 microns), which means the product is dipped in molten zinc to coat every part of the product. The actual finish on the product is a thick, rough coating but it has great advantages as this creates a long term corrosion resistance. E-galvanised/BZP (Bright Zinc Plated)/Zinc plated: e-galvanised (electro galvanised) is the electroplating of zinc onto steel; this means the coating is a thin (6-8 microns), smooth, shiny finish, which makes it a more attractive product. However, the coating is not as corrosion resistant as a hot dip galvanised finish, as the coating is so much thinner. Pre-galvanised: product is fabricated from pre-galvanised sheet steel; thickness of the finish is approximately 20 microns, the corrosion resistance is between that of hot dip galvanising and electro galvanising. Your Guide to Our Ironmongery Finishes E-black/ E-brown: this is a polyester powder coating that is baked or sprayed onto the metal; if it is a wearing part, the coating can flake and the exposed steel may be subject to corrosion. Stainless Premium black: this is a hot dip galvanised finish with black polyester powder coating baked on top; this gives a highly durable finish, double corrosion protection. steel: 316 marine grade stainless steel is corrosion free for coastal and high performance situations. BZP/Yellow passivated: this is an electro galvanised finish with an additional yellow passivation; this layer increases the corrosion protection of the parts of the product and gives it a slight yellow finish. Pewter: zinc coating is applied, then a pewter finish and finally a clear lacquer to seal the finish. It beautifully highlights the texture of the steel, however regular maintenance is required (wiping it with an oily rag) to keep it in good condition.
