NewTechWood Screening Installation Guide v20180724au
IMPORTANT: Read All Sections Before You Start For the most up to date information, please visit our website @ www.newtechwood.com.au NewTechWood screening profiles are designed for decorative and privacy screening applications only. They are NOT RECOMMENDED TO BE USED FOR THE FOLLOWING: X Pool or security fencing X Safety Balustrading X Structural Elements X Applied directly to solid surfaces Expansion & Contraction: NewTechWood Screening will expand and contract in length with changes in temperature, due to the nature of the composite material. This is normal behaviour of any wood plastic composite and is not a product fault. It is important to take this into proper consideration before installing. The amount of expansion and contraction you experience is dependent on several different factors including: Temperature at the time of installation. Length of board. The longer the length the more expansion; shorter the length, less expansion. Fixing to Timber: 1. Stainless Steel 8g x 50mm or 10g x 65mm composite screws are recommended for fixing NewTechWood Screening profiles to timber posts.. 2. Pre-drill and countersink all holes to avoid mushrooming. It is recommended to drill holes slightly larger than the screw to allow for any expansion and contraction. Fixing to Metal 1. Stainless Steel 10g x 40mm self-tapping screws are recommended when fixing NewTechWood Screening profiles to metal posts. 2. Pre-drill and countersink all holes to avoid mushrooming. It is recommended to drill holes slightly larger than the screw to allow for any expansion and contraction. Thermal Deflection Due to the nature of wood plastic composites, NewTechWood Screening profiles may show a slight deflection between posts when in direct sunlight. This is generally caused by heat exposure to one side of a board as opposed to the other. The extent to which this occurs is dependent on several factors including ambient air temperature. This phenomenon is not considered a product fault. NewTechWood Screening Installation Guide / v20180724au 1
