Inauguration of a Reader s Club at Kansagara College Library A library is the temple of learning and learning has liberated enlightened more people than any kind of technological advancements in the history, so far. Ever the more, library is a place of worship for book lovers. Library is not a Luxury but a necessity in a student s life. In consonance with this pre requisite or essentiality a Reader s Club was inaugurated on 10th August at Kansagara College. A nation renowned personality The Booklet Guy Mr Amrut Deshmukh who had recently conducted a psychedelic and consciousness expanding seminar at RCRG addressed the students at Kansagara premises. In his group discussion, he motivated the students to cultivate the habit of reading. Moreover, he shared some important tips on enhancing their reading speed and How to easily remember and recall the stuff that they have read. Overall, the students were benefited and it was a very fruitful session which lasted for almost one and a half hour. Consequential to the group discussion, the floor was open for question and answers which enabled the students to clarify their doubts with Mr Amrut Deshmukh. President of Rotary club of Rajkot Greater Rtn Yash Rathod and secretary Rtn. Ravi Chhotai remained were present at the event. Ann Mayuri Tratiya coordinated the entire event flawlessly. We are extremely grateful to Ann Mayuri tratiya for her instantaneous earnestness which profited the students at large Project Red Revolution Liberating and Empowering Women Access to menstrual Hygiene products is a basic human right. - Safekeeping safe guarding this basic human right for every adolescent young lady in our nation, a very prudent emulation has been undertaken by our DG Pinky Patel along with Dr. Amisha Mehta from Rotary Club of Vapi abased or corroborative with the Project name of Red Revolution. Recently, Dr. Amisha Mehta conducted a seminar on Red Revolution in RCRG bhavan wherein some of the exuberant and passionate members of all the 3 Rotary Clubs of Rajkot - participated vehemently. Here is the Crux of the entire seminar What is Project Red Revolution? Red Revolution is the revolution of thoughts prevailing in our society regarding Menstruation. It focuses on eliminating, clarifying or delineating the stigma, false beliefs and myths associated with Menstruation that has been followed or sustained throughout the years in our community. Why Red Revolution? The rooted agenda behind such a contemplative initiative was protecting or conserving women s heath as well as the environment. Statically figures demonstrate that a woman in her menstruating lifetime would be generating about 150kg of disposable sanitary waste a year. These disposable sanitary pads take up to almost 800 years to decompose in a landfill. Incinerating or burning these
sanitary pads releases toxic chemicals into the atmosphere- such as Dioxin and Furan which are some of the deadliest carcinogenic agents(substances causing cancer on prolonged use) known to science so far. The long term solution to this problem lies in moving to healthier and eco- friendly alternatives such as re-usable cloth pads. Programme Execution? Unison to the above shared information Dr. Amisha Mehta displayed through an AV clip an easiest way to make a reusable cloth pad at home. These pads are just like disposable pads, except the fact that one can wash and reuse them therefore saving money and creating less waste. Furthermore, she also discussed hygienically preferable methods of washing and drying the pads in order enhance its durability or usability. All inclusive a very comprehensive seminar appealing the audiences at each and every bit forcing them to embrace this anew- afresh Revolution Of Thoughts The Red Revolution Review of Independence Day Celebration - 1962 Rezangla War Story The last stand The Independence Day celebration commenced with the flag hosting ceremony, wherein members in gallant numbers remained present, demonstrating their respect, dedication and dutifulness towards our nation. They definitely fulfilled their responsibility of being AN INDIAN. Following Flag Hosting Ceremony, the most memorable and emblematic speaker meet took place. This speaker meet was wonderfully and flawlessly hosted in our national language Hindi by our very talented Ann Monika Mehta. Firstly, the rotary prayer had been recited by Rtn Dr. R.U Mehta. Sequentially, President Yash Rathod presented the welcome address followed by Rtn Ravi Ganatra who delivered a very prompt introduction of our Key note speaker Petty Officer Manan Bhatt. Consequently, Petty officer Manan Bhatt initiated his speech with the aphorism - Bullet and Bayonet Wounded Bodies lay all over Rezang La The Last stand? So then What was Rezang La war story The last stand? It was a tale of unflinching devotion to duty. It was the story of raw courage and spirit of 123 Indian Soldiers who fought to their last breath without weapons or back up often with bare hands to save mother nation from being violated. Fifty Five years ago India suffered, the ignominy of a military debacle. The painful memories of that defeat still linger in the national psyche. One such battle was Rezang La, a pass at 16000 feet on the south eastern approach to the Chushul Valley in Ladakh. It was a battle of Last man fighting to the last round - in this battle without parallel in the annals of modern military, 123 brave hearts of Charlie company, 13 Kumaon, fought to the last men-last round. Employing their human wave tactics, 2000 Chinese soldiers attacked the isolated forward post of Chushul Valley. Surrounded and heavily outnumbered, the Indian army fought with a rare determination and bravado. The head of the Battalion- Major Shaitan Singh crawled from trench to trench, personally motivating his men, under withering fire, even though he was himself wounded. The company suffered 114 causalities and finally ran out of ammunition, but these gallant warriors, neither retreated nor surrendered. 2 -inch mortar men died with a bomb still in his
hand. The medical orderly had a syringe and a bandage in his hands when the Chinese bullet hit him. It was only when the Chinese permitted the Indian Army to collect the bodies in February 1963 that the nation learnt the truth about the heroic fight put up by these valiant warriors. Indeed that cold November eve of 1962 added a new chapter of unflinching devotion and supreme courage under most adverse circumstances to the Indian army s glorious traditions of valour and sacrifice in the service of the nation. Such a heart sinking - untold saga of unsung warriors put forth by the key note speaker Petty officer Manna Bhatt - on the occasion of Independence day Celebration at Rotary Bhavan - brought tears in the eyes of each and every member present in the auditorium. The speaker too got emotional urging the citizens of our nation to stay united as unity of fellow countrymen is the strength of our Indian Army. In continuum to Petty Officer Mannan Bhatt- Veteran Mr Vala Saheb too shared his gut wrenching heroic tale of Kargil War wherein soldiers had survived inhumane conditions but were determined not to cross LOC during the war. Post the speaker meet, a very gracious gesture of felicitating the war veterans and their family members had been conducted which was appreciated accepted and applauded by one and all. Lastly, I am a soldier borne to die, was the rare verselet read out aloud - as the ceremonial vote of thanks by our very talented secretary Rtn Ravi Chhotai - authenticating the desistance of Independence Day Celebration.
