GE018: Interpretation of Engineering Drawings GE018 Rev.001 CMCT COURSE OUTLINE Page 1 of 5
Training Description: This course, developed out of best practice recommendations and extensive industry experience, provides you with fundamental knowledge required to read and interpret the P&ID s. The course focuses on engineering drawings typically used in the petrochemical and process industries by engineers and technologists in the design phase, and by operations and maintenance staff once facilities are up and running. It is suitable for anyone interested in how drawings should be interpreted, created, maintained, and used in assessing emergency situations and regulatory compliance issues. The course focuses on practical application of print interpretation. It will give the participant a better understanding of the view representation, dimensions, tolerances, and symbols used on prints. Newly acquired learning is reinforced throughout the class with numerous practice problems. Training Objective: By the end of the training, participants will be able to: Read and Interpret Drawings and Schematics Identify electrical components Relate drawings to real world applications Use drawings and schematics for Troubleshooting Use drawings and schematics to Communicate with others Create your own drawings Training Designed for: This course is intended for all Piping Engineering and Design Personnel wishing to expand their knowledge of piping and instrumentation, Engineers, Designers, CAD Operators and Drafts Persons in the Piping Field, Practicing Engineers and Designers who may have experience in related disciplines and wish to expand their knowledge of the piping area as well as Piping Fabricators, Contractors and Suppliers wishing to understand the relationship of manufacture and fabrication to the design, layout and construction of piping systems.
