Volume 77 Issue 3 Tuesday 19 July 2011 This week s speaker John Gorman : member behind the badge John Gorman was introduced by John Chadderton who advised us that John Gorman was an Australian representative in shooting and was proposed by Royce Abbey to originally join RCE in 1973. His initial stint with RCE lasted until 1980, leaving to attend to hectic business commitments. John advised us that 14 of his fellow RCE club members in 1980 are still members today. John Gorman always lived in the local area and has been married to Margaret for 49 years. John started his working career as a wool classer travelling through wool sheds in out back Australia. He then moved into Skin buying in a career direction that he has thoroughly and has seen him travel the world to such fashion locations as France, Italy, China and Iraq! Almost all skins used to be sold to France where the wool was removed and sold and the hide made into leather, primarily for the fashion industry. Today, most skins are sold to China. From Board: $1000 allocated for the third year reimbursement of Joe Bradbury Awardee, Ben Roehlen. Ben continues his motor mechanics apprenticeship and his passion for being part of an auto racing pit crew. Due to increased costs, effective immediately lunch time meals will rise to $28 (still $30 inclusive of raffle tickets).
The Four Way Test: Of the things we think, say or do: Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? The Rotary Club of Essendon P.O Box 161 Essendon, VIC 3040 From President Steve: The chairs of our Club committees have their own goals which they will work towards during the year, and you will be part of that as a committee member. What I would ask of each of you is that you set 3 individual goals they don t have to be life-changing ; it may be as simple as deciding to make that extra effort to attend a committee meeting on a particularly wintry night whatever they are, 3 things which will define your commitment to our Club. Going through life without goals is like a trip to the shop without a list, or a meeting with no agenda things might be accomplished but it s more through good luck than good management. I want everyone to reach the end of the new Rotary year and be happy with what they ve done towards maintaining our position as one of the premier Clubs in Australia.
