The European Association of Consultants to and about Not-For-Profit Organisations EUCONSULT SPRING WORKSHOP 23-24 MARCH 2017 SPEAKER/FACILITATOR PROFILES Daniel Ambrus Head of Communications, Networks and Partnerships European Commission Representation Daniel is head of communication, networks and partnerships at the European Commission Representation in the UK. Between 2010 and 2015 he was head of the political section of the Commission's office in Hungary. Before he joined the Commission in 2008 as political analyst he worked for the Hungarian government on EU affairs. Daniel holds an MSc in EU governance (LSE), an MA in International Relations (CEU) and an MA in political science (ELTE). He accomplished internships at the House of Lords, the Harvard Law School Refugee Clinic (US) and the European Commission. Between 1999 and 2010 he was president of the Pillar Foundation, an NGO he co-established to raise awareness on the EU in Hungary. NPC is a charity think tank and consultancy aiming to increase the impact of the charitable and non-profit sector. Dan was Head of the Number 10 Policy Unit and Senior Adviser to the Prime Minister on the Economy from 2007 to 2010. He has been Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers in the Treasury, and has worked as a special adviser to the Secretary of State in the Education Department as well as at DTI and DCLG. He was a Director in the Economics segment of FTI Consulting. Dan ran the New Local Government Network think tank between 2002 and 2005, which was voted Think Tank of the Year in 2004 and was Senior Economist at the IPPR in the 1990s. Dan is a member of the Early Action Taskforce, which helps make the case for a shift in priorities away from coping with the consequences of social problems towards work that prevents them arising. He is a member of the Advisory Boards for Big Society Capital, Impetus PEF, and the Centre for Public Scrutiny. He is a Visiting Fellow at Southampton University, a trustee of 19 Princelet Street and of the What Works Centre for Wellbeing, and a former member of the Research Committee of the ESRC and of the Greater Manchester Economic Advisory Panel. 3 Luke Fletcher Partner Bates Wells Braithwaite Luke specialises in charity, social enterprise, responsible business and impact investing. As well as advising on the full range of activities carried out by charities and social enterprises, areas of focus for Luke include designing innovative legal and constitutional structures and acting for a wide variety of clients with an impact oriented business model or who are making or managing impact investments. From 2001 to 2007 he was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kent. Previously he was Chief Executive of the Further Education Funding Council, and before that he was Vice-Chancellor of Middlesex University and held various University posts as a Lecturer and Professor of Physics. He is a member of the Higher Education Commission, Vice-Chair of the Network for Black and Asian Professionals and a Board Member of Manchester Metropolitan University and is a Patron of a number of educational and charitable organisations. He has been the Government Thames Gateway Skills Envoy, Chair of Lifelong Learning UK, the Higher Education Statistics Agency, the Learning and Skills Council in Kent and Medway, the University Vocational Awards Council and Higher Education South East, and Chair or Vice-Chair of both primary and secondary schools. He has also chaired government inquiries and Research Council Boards and been a member of several University Boards.
