INSTRUCTIONS MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED FOR THIS ACTIVITY: Set Up: Painters tape or sidewalk chalk to make the grids Print out of the 18 Question Squares taped down in the grids Print out of the 18 answers taped onto 18 paper plates Something to keep track of points A prize This is a combination of shuffle board, jeopardy, tic tac toe and frisbee. You will need to set up 2 tic tac boards on the ground where the inner squares are twice as large as a plastic plate. If you are playing outside you can make the 2 board with side walk chalk but if you are playing inside you can easily make the grid with painters tape or masking tape on the floor. You will need to print off the 18 squares that have the questions about the Our Father from the team leader resource center that have the questions. These squares should be taped down inside each of the tic tac toe squares (there are 9 in each board making a total of 18). On the ground on either end of the boards you will need to draw or mark a throw line which should be about 5-8 feet from the two boards. Print off the 18 round circle answers about the Our Father from the team leader resource center and tape or glue them to plastic or paper plates. These should be put in a stack near the throw line. You will also need something to keep track of points. Explanation: Split the team into two groups and have them line up at the throw line so you can explain the rules of the game. Read out all the questions about the Our Father that are in the tic tac toe board. The answers to these questions are on the paper plates (frisbees) that are in the stack. Each team will take turns having one player read out the answer on the plate and they trying to throw it in the right square. The team members can help their team mate figure out which plate goes in the right square.
INSTRUCTIONS After the player throws the frisbee, the team leader can let the team know if it was the correct square or not. If a frisbee answer lands in the wrong square it does not count and is put back into the stack. If a frisbee answer lands in the right square, the team gets 1 point. If the frisbee lands on the line of two squares, it can be placed in one of the two squares it is adjacent to. If a team gets three frisbees in a row (horizontal, vertical or diagonal) the team gets 5 extra points and they can take the questions and frisbees off the board. Teams can throw onto both boards. If a frisbee is knocked off by another frisbee throw, it is simply placed back where it was on the board. Teams can block the other team s tic tac toe by trying to get their team s frisbee in a square at the end of the row. If you need to keep track of which frisbees are from which team, use two color of stickers. Once all the frisbees are on the board or have been matched, then the team with the most points wins. Make sure you go over the questions and answers with the team at the end so they learn about the Out Father.
Instructions: Print off the 18 questions and tape them to the grid. Print off the 18 answers and tape them to the paper plates. Print off the answers for the team leader. # Question Answer 8 #518: If the Father is in heaven, where is that heaven? 9 #519: What does it mean to say, Hallowed be thy name? 10 #520: What does it mean to say, Thy kingdom come? 11 #521: What does it mean to say, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven? 12 #522: What does it mean to say, Give us this day our daily bread? 13 #523: Why does man not live on bread alone? 14 #524: What does it mean to say, Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us? 15 #525: What does it mean to say, Lead us not into temptation? 16 #526: What does it mean to say, Deliver us from evil? 17 #527: Why do we end the Our Father with Amen? 18 When do we say the our father in mass? Heaven is wherever God is. The word heaven does not designate a place but, rather, indicates God s presence. To hallow or to treat God s name as something holy means to place him above everything else. We call for Christ to come again. We pray that on earth and in our own heart it may become as it already is in heaven. The petition about our bread makes us people who await everything from the goodness of our heavenly Father. Men have a spiritual hunger that cannot be satisfied by material means. The mercy that we show to others and the mercy that we ourselves seek is indivisible Because every hour we are in danger of falling into sin, we beg God not to leave us defenseless in the power of temptation. Evil in the Our Father does not mean a negative spiritual force or energy, but rather Evil in person, or the devil. Christians and Jews alike from ancient times have concluded all their prayers with Amen, thereby saying, Yes, so be it! Right after the great amen and before communion.
