It is expected that this standard will evolve over time; however the use of this standard should remain consistent within individual projects.

Setting up a new MEP models There are two methods for setting up a BIM MEP model. If a user wants to begin a new model by using views and sheets created architects use step 1 and 2 or you prefer setting up your own views and sheets from scratch jump to step 2. Step 1, beginning from an architectural model If a central model has worksets and views that you would like to use in MEP, it is possible to copy all those as a basic model and simply delete views or objects that you don t need. Purging can also be done to remove any hidden objects and families. YOU MUST COPY THE CENTRAL FILE USING SAVE AS, CLOSE THEN REOPEN BY USING THE DETACH BUTTON IN OPEN DIALOG OR EVERYTHING WILL BE ERASED. USE THIS METHOD WITH CAUTION! Begin by opening an architectural model into a 3d view. If you have anything in that view you want to preserve, now would be a good time to turn it off. Make sure all else is turned on so it can be selected. This illustration demonstrates how many unopened views can be selected and deleted with ease. Make sure these views are not something you need, because once deleted, it cannot be undone. Continue this procedure till all unwanted elements and views are removed from the model. This procedure can be used for legends, schedules, sheets (save a few for reference and templates for your own sheets) Select to remove any unwanted views and press delete key. 5 P age
