THE PARAMOUNT STORY At Fender, we pride ourselves on crafting acoustic instruments of the highest quality and performance. It s a promise to which we ve been fully committed since the very beginning. We proudly present Paramount as the pinnacle of more than a half-century of Fender acoustic excellence. As the proud owner of a Paramount acoustic instrument, you ve officially joined an exclusive group of players discerning artists in search of not only unique and expressive acoustic sound. With Paramount, we re excited to unveil the finest acoustic features we have to offer. The inspiration behind the Paramount acoustic line is twofold. We wanted to bring to life an instrument that represents our desire to create and innovate, but also revisit the esteemed heritage of 1960s Fender acoustics. This history is boldly represented in many of the stunning features you see before you, from your guitar s classic body shapes to artful styling and appointments. The line also reimagines many of the features of the original Concert Tone banjo series, which we ve expanded to include a breadth of traditional acoustic body shapes. From the checkerboard purfling and binding to the unique mother of pearl and abalone inlays, no detail is too ornate and no feature is overlooked in the construction of these playable pieces of art. We hope you enjoy your Paramount acoustic and hope you ll grow your own acoustic legacy for years to come.

GUITAR HUMITRON FENDER PARAMOUNT HUMIDIFIER INSTRUCTIONS Thank you for purchasing a Fender Paramount acoustic guitar! With proper care and maintenance, this instrument will provide a lifetime of musical enjoyment. To assist in preserving your guitar, a humidifier is included to maintain suitable conditions while your instrument is stored. Proper humidification will help prevent the top of the guitar from warping or cracking as a result of the wood shrinking when it becomes too dry. As a general rule, expect to use the humidifier during dry winter months or in locations with high temperatures and low rainfall.

Use: When local relative humidity conditions fall below 35-40 percent (check your local weather listings), it s time to use the humidifier. Simply immerse the entire humidifier in water* for several seconds. Gently wipe any excess water from the humidifier s exterior, verify no water is dripping from the humidifier, and place it in the soundhole of your instrument, ensuring the large button-end remains outside the soundhole. To most effectively manage the guitar s microclimate, we recommend the guitar always be stored in the case when not being used. How It Works: The humidifier absorbs up to 10 times its own weight in water and slowly releases it through the vent holes to maintain proper humidity for your instrument. Constructed from customextruded non-allergenic resin, the tube is soft enough to stay in place against the soundhole while minimizing contact with the instrument s interior. *Note: We recommend the use of distilled water to avoid mineral deposits that can reduce the humidifier s effectiveness

TRUSS ROD FENDER PARAMOUNT TRUSS ROD ADJUSTMENT INSTRUCTIONS To accommodate string geometry and eliminate buzzing from the strings hitting the frets during vibration, every guitar neck has relief the amount of curvature required for the strings to vibrate freely. Neck relief can change as wood shrinks or swells, moving in response to seasonal changes in relative humidity. To counteract this movement your Paramount acoustic guitar contains a dual-action truss rod the truss rod nut is located at the heel of the neck, inside the guitar s body. Too much relief (turn truss rod nut clockwise to counteract) Too little relief (turn truss rod nut counter-clockwise to counteract) ADJUSTING THE TRUSS ROD 1. Locate the truss rod nut 2. Using the supplied 4mm head hex wrench, slowly turn the nut an eighth to a quarter of a turn 3. Turn the nut as indicated in the illustrations above (Note: In the neutral position the truss rod will feel loose, as there is no pressure against the neck. Once turned past this position you should feel the truss rod tighten up again.) 4. After turning the truss rod let the neck settle in to the new position for about 10 minutes 5. Retune the instrument to standard pitch (if required) and check the relief again; adjust the truss rod further if necessary NOTE: It is possible to damage the truss rod by stripping the nut, or by over tightening the truss rod, resulting in damage. If you don t feel comfortable adjusting the truss rod yourself, please take your instrument to your nearest Fender Authorized Service Center.

WOOD Discover the sonic qualities and key differences between the specially culled tone woods that comprise our prestigious Paramount series. ROSEWOOD A dense, dark wood used for the back and sides of Paramount instruments, rosewood exudes plenty of midrange along with ample low end a warm, traditional-sounding tone wood perfect for any playing style, from flatpicking to strumming and more. MAHOGANY A medium-weight wood that s dark in color, mahogany s sound is bright and resonant, with less pronounced highs and lows and rich, balanced overtones. SPRUCE A powerful-sounding tone wood, Spruce is durable yet defined, with distinct wood grain and lasting longevity that makes it one of the most widely used acoustic top materials.

CARE AND FEEDING SUGGESTED SAFEKEEPING FOR YOUR PARAMOUNT ACOUSTIC Store the instrument in a cool, dry place. Shifts in temperature or humidity can cause the body to swell or shrink. The resulting cracks, splits or damage to the top, back, sides or internal bracing may create unwanted resonance, rattles or loss of projection. It can also warp the instrument s neck or damage the protective finish. The ideal environment is in a room kept at 35%-45% relative humidity with a constant temperature. Store the instrument in the case when its not being played. Storing the instrument in the case will not only help protect it from accidental physical damage, but also help protect it from shifts in temperature or humidity that can cause damage as listed above. Use the included humidifier when storing the instrument for long periods of time. The humidifier is included to maintain suitable conditions while your instrument is stored. Proper humidification will help prevent the top of the guitar from warping or cracking as a result of the wood shrinking when it becomes too dry. See the accompanying humidifier instructions for more details on when and how to use it. Wipe off the strings after playing. Skin oils, sweat and dirt left on the strings after playing will greatly reduce the performance and lifespan of the strings, as well as potentially damage the instrument s fingerboard or frets. After playing, lightly mist the strings with water and immediately wipe them off with a soft rag or microfiber cloth.

We ve included these recommendations to assist in preserving your guitar, and we strongly encourage you to follow them. Failure to do so may void the instrument s warranty. Clean and polish the instrument. Once or twice a year you should carefully clean and polish your guitar s body. We recommend using one of the Fender Custom Shop cleaning and polishing products listed on the next page. When polishing make sure you avoid products that contain d-limonene, alcohol, solvents or silicone. All of these substances will damage your instrument s finish and other components over time alcohol and silicone will cause the finish to become cloudy or hazy, and d-limonene and other solvents can break down the finish and cause the wood around the frets to crack or deteriorate. Oil your fingerboard. Once or twice a year, or every three months if playing often, you should condition your instrument s fingerboard to help replenish its natural oils, extending the life of your instrument. We recommend using Fender Custom Shop Fingerboard Remedy, a solvent- and alcohol-free combination of beeswax and citrus that lifts dirt and grease from fingerboards and is compatible with all finishes. Change your strings as required. This instrument arrives from the factory with Fender Light 80/20 Dura-Tone Coated (.012-.052) acoustic guitar strings.
