Principle of operation How it works Based on Faraday s law of Electromagnetic Induction, when an electrical conductor (L) is moved through a magnetic field (B) a voltage (Ui) is induced which is proportional to the velocity (v) of the conductor. Principles of Operation Reflexor (Doppler) When liquid contains excessive undissolved gases (air) or solids; Doppler technology may be required. In Sitrans clamp-on meters Doppler technology is called Reflexor mode. Reflexor is available in NEMA-4 FUS, FUP, and FUE transmitters Reflexor operates on Doppler (freq) shift caused by sonic reflections off particles (bubbles) suspended in the flowstream Page 14

Vortex Theory Measurement of vortices as pulses Each passing vortex creates a pressure differential The pressure fluctuations are measured with an electronic sensor Most vortex meters use a piezoelectric sensor (piezo) The frequency of the pulses is calculated and the flow rate is determined Factory calibration information is then used to determine volumetric flow Page 22
