Cleaning the cutter blade < Daily maintenance > In order to use this printer in good condition, please perform the daily maintenance. Note the following when performing the maintenance. Do not lubricate the mechanism. To clean the printer, either wipe the soiled areas with a dry cloth or with a cloth that has been dampened with water or neutral detergent diluted with water. The sensor to detect the media is contaminated with dust and dirt, it may cause a malfunction. Please clean regularly to prevent trouble and retain the print quality. CAUTION Do not use flammable solvents such as thinner or benzene. Damaging on the printer surface or touching the internal electrical components may result in a fire or an electric shock. Cleaning the cutter blade Before starting the print, please always clean the cutter blade. When the media is cut, the label glue is adhered to the cutter blade by small. This may cause the bad paper cutting and bad paper feeding. Especially if using with "Roll to Cut", clean the cutter blade each time you finish using one roll paper. CAUTION When cleaning the cutter blade, make sure that the printer power is turned off and disconnect the power cable form the electrical outlet. Wipe the cutter blade with a soft cloth and cotton swabs. Please do not touch the cutter blade with bare hands. There is a risk of injury. Please do not use the solvents such as alcohol and isopropyl alcohol. After cleaning, please wipe with a soft and dry cloth. 1 Turn OFF the printer. 1
2 Disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet. 3 Remove the roll holder from the unwinder unit. (1) Loosen the flange fixing screw of Flange A. Unlock the roll paper by turning the media fixing screw counterclockwise and then remove the Flange A. 2
(2) Remove the roll paper. 4 Remove the sheet feeder. (1) Pull the back lever to unlock the sheet feeder. (2) Holding the sheet feeder with both hands, remove it from the printer While slightly inclined obliquely upward. (1) Unlock the sheet feeder. (2) Remove the sheet feeder. 3
5 Open the cutter unit cover. Lift the lock lever and then open it in a state where the lock lever is unlocked. Lock lever CAUTION The cutter unit has internally the cutter blade used to cut the roll paper. Do not touch the cutter blade. There is a risk of injury. 4
6 Soak the cotton swabs or the cloth wrapped around the tweezers, etc. with alcohol solvent and then remove the glue attached to the cutter blade (2 places of top and bottom) with it. Clean this two cutter blades (upper and lower). When cleaning the lower one, clean the blade only the area where the cotton swab can reach. Before cleaning After cleaning Checkpoint Make sure that the glue is not left on the cutter blade. If the gule is left, clean the cutter blade using the alcohol solvents again. When using the cotton swabs, make sure that part of the cotton wound around the swab is not left on the cutter blade. If the cotton is left, clean the cutter blade using the alcohol solvents again. After cleaning, please wipe with a soft and dry cloth. 5
7 Close the cutter unit cover. (1) The lock is released by pulling the back lever while lifting up the cutter unit cover lightly. (2) Close the cutter unit cover slowly and then make sure that the lock lever is locked completely. Cutter blade Back lever 6
8 Install the sheet feeder. While holding the sheet feeder with both hands, insert it obliquely from above the mounting hole of the printer. Push the lever backward to lock the sheet feeder. Checkpoint Push the sheet feeder into the Cutter unit to connect the Connector A on the Cutter unit and Connector B on the sheet feeder properly. 9 Install the roll holder. (1) Load the roll paper paying attention to the direction of the roll paper. Set it based on the position of the Flange B. Checkpoint As shown in the figure below, make sure that the printed surface is face up and then load the roll paper. (2) Align the slit position of Flange A with the slit position of Flange B. Insert the Flange A until it hits the set roll paper without a gap and then fix the roll paper by turning the media fixing knob clockwise. 8
(3) Fix the Flange A with the flange fixing screw. CAUTION Do not fix the flange fixing screws on a scale-printed surface of the shaft. There is a possibility that the printed scale on the shaft disappears. 9
