1. Name Type/Name: Cut-off tool holder Manufacturer: ESA Eppinger GmbH Breitwiesenweg 2-8 73770 Denkendorf Germany Tel.: +49 711 934 934-0 www.eppinger.de 2. Product 2.1 Scope of application A cut-off tool holder is a static tool holder for CNC lathes, with which workpieces can be economically parted off/grooved on a CNC lathe after clamping a cut-off blade. 2.2 Technical data Tool holder type: Dimensions: Interface input (shaft): Interface output (tool holder): Design: Type: Direction of fixing (to the shaft): Speed: Adjustability: Coolant: Fixed tools See respective data sheet from online catalog BMT Cut-off tools and piercing tools Straight (0 ), simple Normal Left or right Without drive Height adjustable Internal and external coolant supply Prismatic cross-section with 15 bevel to accommodate a cut-off blade. 2.3 General operating instructions Remove all tools for assembly (various keys, etc.) from the cut-off tool holder, as well as from the working area of the machine, before putting the cut-off tool holder into operation! All bearing surfaces of the holder as well as the cut-off blade must be cleaned before assembly/use! 2.4 Protection of humans and the environment Please observe the provisions of the occupational safety law when commissioning the cut-off tool holder. Furthermore, the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act must be observed. -3ESA Eppinger GmbH Breitwiesenweg 2-8 D-73770 Denkendorf +49 (0)711 934 934-0 info@eppinger.de www.eppinger.de
3. Operating Instructions 3.1 Tensioning the cut-off blade The cut-off blade to be tensioned is clamped with two clamping pieces (1). After cleaning the contact surfaces of the cut-off blade, clamping is done in 4 steps: 1. Clamp the clamping pieces (1) with screws M6x12 DIN912 (2). 2. Loosen the bolts M6x12 DIN912 (2) half a turn to tension the clamping pieces (1). 3. Insert the cur-off blade and apply the threaded pins M6x12 DIN915 (3) evenly to the clamping pieces (1) until the cut-off blade can barely be moved to the desired length. 4. Firmly tension the clamping pieces (1) with M6x12 DIN912 screws (2). 3.2 2 1 3 Cooling The cut-off tool holder serves to accommodate cut-off blades with internal cooling (4). If the cut-off blades are cooled on the inside, please observe the respective operating instructions of the cutoff blade (depending on the manufacturer, different cooling bores). If necessary, a cut-off blade without internal cooling can be cooled externally via the cooling screw (5). The cut-off blade without internal cooling closes the cooling slotted hole (4) in the clamped state. 4 5 IMPORTANT: To guarantee optimum coolant transfer, the O-ring (4) of the cooling slotted hole must be greased and free of dirt! -4ESA Eppinger GmbH Breitwiesenweg 2-8 D-73770 Denkendorf +49 (0)711 934 934-0 info@eppinger.de www.eppinger.de
3.3 Height adjustment The preset attachment with the clamped cut-off blade, already set on parting center by Eppinger, can be adjusted with the help of the adjusting screws M6x20 DIN913 (6) if necessary, about 1mm (the four screws M6x25 DIN912 and M6x14 DIN912 (7) for fixing the attachment must still be minimally attached during the adjustment, so that the attachment does not lift off the basic holder (8) during the adjustment process). When adjusting the height using the adjusting screws (6), the opposite screws must be loosened. 3.4 7 6 6 8 Rotatable Attachment When using a shortened cut-off blade, the attachment for special work can be rotated 180, e.g. to avoid collisions with clamping devices of the CNC lathe. For this, the four fixing screws M6x25 DIN912 and M6x14 DIN912 (7) must be loosened. For coolant connection of the attachment to be turned, the threaded pin M5x6 DIN913 (9) must be screwed out of the bore into the now exposed bore (10) (use sealant). Following, fasten again the detached and rotated by 180 attachment with shortened cutting blade. 7 7 9 10 10 9-5ESA Eppinger GmbH Breitwiesenweg 2-8 D-73770 Denkendorf +49 (0)711 934 934-0 info@eppinger.de www.eppinger.de
4. Maintenance and Care 4.1 Maintenance Thorough cleaning with a brush and cloth is sufficient. Cleaning with compressed air, however, is not recommended. 4.2 Care To achieve a long life cycle of the tool holder, do not use harsh cleaning chemicals and protect all metal surfaces with oil or corrosion inhibitor. 5. Warranty The general terms of Eppinger for sale and delivery apply (see www.eppinger.de). -6ESA Eppinger GmbH Breitwiesenweg 2-8 D-73770 Denkendorf +49 (0)711 934 934-0 info@eppinger.de www.eppinger.de
