Kempii Shawlette Notes: This half-circle shawl starts with a tab and sts are picked up from the tab. The shawl is worked flat with increases at the top edge and between panels to create the half-circle shape. The shawl is worked from the center top to the bottom edge. All rows are worked with three edge es in garter. These es as well as the between panels are not included on the charts. To increase the size of the shawl: work additional repeats of Chart. Each additional repeat of Chart will result in an increase of es per row. Boxed areas of charts indicate pattern repeat across rows. See instructions below for additional information. Use markers at center and between pattern repeats if necessary. Markers between pattern repeats may need to be moved between charts and chart repeats. For generating stripes, the changes between MC and CC are indicated on charts. Provisional Cast On (Crochet Chain method) With a crochet hook, use waste yarn to make a slipknot and chain the number es of the cast on plus a few extra. Hold knitting needle in right hand. Insert the tip of your knitting needle into the first bump of the crochet chain. Wrap the yarn around your needle as you would to knit and pull it through the crochet chain forming your first knit. Repeat this process until you have cast on the correct number of es. To unravel (when sts need to be picked up), pull chain end out, and unravel the chain, leaving live sts. Place these es onto a knitting needle as you unravel the crochet chain. Picot Bind-Off *CO two sts using the Cable Cast-On method.
