Considering the importance and necessity of expanding sustainable economic relations with Moslem nations, in particular with Southeast Asian countries, the Faculty of Entrepreneurship of the University of Tehran run an International Conference on Investment and Opportunities during the Post- Sanctions Era in Iran through the joint efforts of the UTM, Malaysia Ministry of Economics, MIDA (the Malaysia Investment Development Authority) and Investors and entrepreneurs from ASEAN and the Iranian organizations including the Organization of Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran, Iranian Chamber of Commerce and Iranian Embassy in Malaysia. This conference was hosted by Malaysia and was held in the MIDA Conference Center in Kuala Lumpur on July 26-27, 2015. It will basically pursue the following goals: The recognition of investment opportunities in SMEs and large companies in Iran by investors from ASEAN countries, in particular, for transfer of technical know-how and expertise; Establishment of industrial and trade relations Organizing conducted tours to visit the successful Malaysian business firms and enterprises To provide a platform for informative and interactive sessions with the prime movers of Infrastructure sector across various spheres like Government, Policy makers, Industrial leaders, Academia and Potential investors. To introduce investment opportunities in the infrastructure sector and fast growth economic sectors in Iran. Opening Ceremony The conference was started by welcome speech of Dato Azman, the president of MIDA In his speech, he said, Iran is a huge market for Malaysian products and services in the Middle East. We would like to encourage all investors to explore more business opportunities in various forms such as joint ventures. Iran is presently a huge market for Malaysian products and services in the Middle East. Malaysia s trade with Iran in 2015 stood at RM2.1 billion. In January-March 2016, total trade with Iran increased by 29.4% to RM557.6 million compared with the corresponding period of 2015. While in the context of investments, 10 Iranian manufacturing projects with total investments of RM141.45 million have been implemented in Malaysia to date.
