INTRODUCTION: Heck Industries would thank you for purchasing one of our precision Bevel- Mill products. These tools are engineered to provide the highest quality edge finishing. Heck Industries has been a leader in edge conditioning since 1966 and have many unique products specifically designed to fit your fabrication needs. We have a large team of Technical and Sales Specialists available to assist you and determine which machine would be correct for your application. The following manual can be used as a guide for operation, adjustment and technical information. Please reach out to us for additional information and assistance for any beveling and edge conditioning application. SPECIFICATIONS: Min. workpiece thickness 1/8 3mm Minimum Bevel 0 Maximum Bevel (B) 3/8 9.5mm Bevel Angle 15-45 V-Block Length 8 200mm Number of Inserts 5 Motor 1/2hp 110V Weight 26 lbs. 11.8kg THIS MACHINE PRODUCES HOT CHIPS, KEEP AREA CLEAR OF COMBUSTIBLES Always adjust the machine for minimum depth of cut when starting to bevel materials not familiar with, increase depth as necessary. ADJUSTMENT: The carbide inserts offer 4 cutting edges. When the inserts become dull or chipped, change or rotate inserts by removing the 4 outside bolts on the V-Block. Make sure allen key is firmly seated in setscrew on the cutter head when loosening, or else stripping of the setscrew may occur. Snug set screws firmly. USE ONLY NYLOCK SETSCREWS IN CUTTER HEAD, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Use only 20 degrees inserts. When inserts become dull or chipped, replace as soon as possible. Continuous use of dull or chipped inserts may result in cutter head damage. Always feed the machine into the material left to right with the motor above the material (AS ARROW ON FRONT OF MACHINE INDICATES). Depth of cut and type of material will determine the feed rate. Do not push the machine too fast. Always start cutting on the end of the material. If starting in the center of a plate, start into the material very slowly as not to damage the inserts. To bevel materials less than 3/16, place 8 shims or washers between the V-Block plate and the V-Block Cap. When a large bevel is necessary and the machine seems to slow, take several passes to remove stock. Multiple passes will increase insert life, and the finished part will be produced more quickly.

Radius inserts are available for rounding the edge of a workpiece. Each insert has 2 cutting edges, rotate when dull. Do not use radius inserts on flame cut edges. When flame cutting plate the edge becomes hardened. Radius inserts may chip or break on these edges. Radius inserts are ideal for cleaning up welds on box corners or for paint chip edges. Use of a cutting lubricant will prolong insert life, and improve finished edge. TROUBLESHOOTING INSERTS DULLING Use Cutting Wax or Cream Use Titanium Coated Inserts Use C-5 Grade Inserts CHIPPING Feed Rate Too Fast Material Too Hard Use C-2 Grade Inserts Start of Cut Too Fast Use Multiple Passes (Adjust for Light Cut and Readjust for Deeper Cut) ROUGH EDGE Inserts Dull Use Cutting Wax or Cream Feed Rate too Fast GALLING Use Cutting Wax or Cream On Stainless and Aluminum Use Titanium Coated Inserts generated at the cutter. If possible try and purchase a vegetable based cutting oil as this will eliminate premature dulling of the cutters due to heat and it will not smoke like an oil base lubricant will. ROLLER GUIDE INSTRUCTIONS Roller guides are supplied with the Bevel-Mill for use on round plate and pipe over 6 diameter. DO NOT USE ROLLER GUIDES ON FLAT PLATE 1. Adjust machine for minimum depth of cut. 2. Position rollers to fit part. 3. Adjust rollers so machine can easily be moved around the part. It may be necessary to remove slag prior to beveling. 4. Test cut make a light cut and increase to desired depth 5. For large bevels multiple passes are recommended. 6. Always start bevels slowly to prevent insert damage. When using the rollers the workpiece is pinned between rollers and the cutter. This leaves little room for the machine to buck back. Make all roller adjustments loose and make only light passes. On long pipe lengths position the Bevel-Mill on top of workpieces and rotate pipe underneath. NOTE: When choosing a cutting solution or lubricant, do not use an oil based lubricant or cutting solution as this will increase heat

ADJUSTING BEVEL DEPTH * Refer to the Parts List Diagram to ensure you are looking at the correct part number 1. Using 9/16 open end wrench, loosen Motor Bolt (8000-4) as pictured below 5. Once the depth is set, tighten 8000-7, 8000-5, and 8000-4 ** This process may need to be repeated multiple times to achieve desired bevel depth. ADJUSTING BEVEL ANGLE 2. Loosen Top Lock Handle (8000-5) as shown below The 7000 Bevel-Mill Beveler is adjustable for a bevel angle of 15-45 To adjust the bevel angle: 1. Loosen the 4 V-Block Cap Screws (8000-18) as pictured below 3. Loosen Side Locking Bolt (8000-7) as the red arrow indicates, using a 5/10 allen wrench 2. Rotate V-Block assembly to desired angle by using degree indicator mark 4. Now the Housing (8000-1) is able to be rotated to the required cutting depth as shown 3. Tighten the 4 Cap Screws (8000-18)
