How to Guide: Students amcitygrad.com

About AM CityGrad We appreciate that searching for student internships and graduate jobs can be a daunting task. With such a competitive graduate market, it can be extremely tough to make an impression and stand out. Typically most recruitment agencies work on behalf of employers, but we work differently. Our primary focus is on developing you and kick-starting your career. Here at AM CityGrad, we have taken a unique approach to graduate recruitment. Gone are our jobs boards, along with the endless recycling of job applications. In its place is your CityGrad profile from which employers can contact you directly with their job opportunities. We believe in finding you opportunities that match the skills you offer and the ambitions you have. In order to do this we provide you with a platform to boost your employability by injecting some personality into an otherwise anonymous process. This proven method of matching the dynamics of an organisation and an individual means that employers look at far more than just your qualifications and experiences. Ultimately, we believe we can increase your chance of finding graduate work. Not only that but we will help you find graduate work that fits your best skill set, personality and ambitions. We believe that you deserve your best. Your Step by Step Guide to AM CityGrad 1. To start presenting yourself to opportunities, you first need to sign up! Click the sign up button to begin. 2. Fill in your information, such as your name, email, postcode, current employer and choose yourself a password. How We Work AM CityGrad is a free service. We have taken an alternative approach to graduate recruitment. Rather than advertising graduate jobs, we display student and graduate profiles. Employers are free to filter through all CityGrad profiles and head hunt the perfect candidate. Your CityGrad profile is a combination of written content, video CVs and achievement galleries. You have full flexibility to edit this profile in order to showcase your strengths. 3. For access to your account, click the link in the confirmation email. That way, you can begin your online portfolio. On completion, your profile will instantly be available for employers to shortlist. Employers are free to send you their job opportunities if your profile stands out to them. At this point you have the option to accept or decline the invitation. Each opportunity that presents itself has its own unique advantages and every role should be carefully considered when deciding on whether to accept an invitation. Only once you have accepted will we exchange contact details with the respective employer and, from this point onwards, all contact will be directly with them. 2 3

4. On the left hand side, fill in the rest of your details such as your potential job roles, available start dates, overview, experiences and skills. 8. Next, click on the Edit VIdeo CV button at the top. Here you can upload your own personal video CV, to present yourself as a dynamic potential employee. 5. Next, add a profile photo by clicking the top left hand corner and choosing a file. Did you know you re more likely to get approached by businesses with a professional headshot? 9. Upload your video CV onto You- Tube. To keep it between you and the employer, set the video to unlisted. Then, copy the YouTube URL. For more guidence on the video CV, check page 6-7. 6. Now, on the right hand side, begin building your visual portfolio. Start by adding images that express yourself in your online gallery. 10. After copying the link, set your movie type to YouTube and be sure to paste it into into the Movie Stream URL box. Now, your Video CV should be live on your profile! 7. To add an image, simply click the add button, then select your chosen image. 11. Finally, be sure to make sure your profile visability is switched on, and click save. Happy job hunting! 4 5

Your Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Video CV 1. Your CV can be recorded on any platform, such as your webcam, smartphone or from a camcording device. Try and stick to 60 seconds for your CV. 2. Make sure you formally introduce yourself, include the field you would like to go into, skills and the relevant work experience you have and any interests you would like to express; then formally end your short clip. If it helps, write some notes down to prompt yourself! 3. To upload the CV, first go onto the YouTube website, and click the upload button in the top right hand corner, then you can either find your video and upload, or drag and drop it to the upload space. 4. When you have uploaded your video, be sure to click Unlisted in the right hand side drop down menu. This will ensure that the video will only been seen by you and your potential employers. Now copy the link to your video. 5. After this, go to your AM CityGrad profile, click Add Video CV on the right hand side and select your movie type as YouTube. 6. For the Movie Stream URL box, paste your YouTube link and ensure that you follow the step highlighted above to embed the video link onto your profile. 7. Give your video a title and add a description if you want, and you are done! Your potential employers can now get a glimpse of your personality and learn about your experiences. 6 7
