The performnce of the retrctble insect screen could be effected over time if it is not sufficiently fstened to the opening. To instll the retrctble insect screen door, you must verify tht the opening width, height nd mounting surfce re of suitble size to properly instll it into the opening. W /" MIN FLT SURFCE ON FCE. Mesure the width t the top (W), middle (W), nd bottom (W) of the opening (see Figure ). Mesure from the inside of the exterior trim. Utilizing the nrrowest width, reference chrt below.. Mesure the height t the center of the opening, from the bottom of the exterior trim t the top of opening down to the sill t the bottom of opening. Mke sure tht the exterior trim meets the mounting surfce requirements to ccommodte the retrctble insect screen ssembly (see Figure ). The ssembly needs /" flt surfce on exterior trim fce nd /" minimum depth of mounting surfce. H IMPORTNT W If the Door Sill doesn t extend pst the Mounting Surfce or doesn t hve sufficient support, product dmge, injury or both my occur. If the Door Sill extends pst your exterior trim Mounting Surfce nd is supported, no modifiction is required (see Figure ). If the Door Sill is not extended or supported (see Figure b), you will need to dd support blocking. See ppendix B (on pge 6). LBEL TRCK B B CHNNEL (FOR TRCK) RECEIVING TB (FITS INSIDE TRCK) CORRECT 6 RECEIVING TB SHOULD NOT BE OUTSIDE TRCK INCORRECT Unpck the housings nd screen trcks onto non-brsive surfce, with the side lbeled Interior fcing up. Leving the screen in the retrcted position, rrnge the components so the letters mrked on the Screen Trcks nd the letters mrked on the Endcps lign ( to, B to B, C to C nd D to D). With prts lid flt on protected surfce, confirm the Fstener Clips on endcps nd C re in the open position. Strting t corner, slide the Receiving Tb on Endcp inside the Screen Trck. Ensure the Receiving Tb fits inside the Screen Trck, nd the Screen Trck slides into the Chnnel. (see correct bove). (Visit ndersenluminire.com/instll to view video of this step.) Repet for corner C, then continue to corners B nd D. They do not hve Fstener Clips, which llows the door ssembly to djust to your door opening width. Use the 6 Configurtion for openings - 6 /8" wide or Configurtion for openings less thn " wide in step b. 4 PLCE ND FSTEN SSEMBLY INTO OPENING SMS Pn Tools Recommended: /8" SMS Pn Pinted Mchine Pn Pinted #8-" (Qty 6) PCK OPENING HNDLE OR OPENING HNDLE - Mchine Flthed b #0 TRIM SURFCE - Mchine Flthed OPENING SMS Pn Pinted SURFCE With the interior of the screen ssembly fcing the door opening, rotte the ssembly so the Screen Housing is on the opposite side of the Door Opening Hndle. # FLNGE SMS Pn Pinted SSEMBLY b The screen ssembly will be nrrower thn your opening until fully expnded in the following steps. In this step focus on positioning the screen ssembly onto the Trim Surfce nd the ltch housing Screw Flnge moved over tight to the Mounting Surfce. b Strt by plcing the Screen ssembly onto the exterior Trim Surfce, with the Screw Flnges extending into the Door Opening. Rest the bottom of the screen ssembly onto your sill or support blocking. b Slide the screen ssembly in the door opening until the Ltch Housing side Screw Flnge is tight to the Mounting Surfce. c SURFCE d EXPND LTCH FLNGE #8 - " LTCH EXPND FLNGE SURFCE c Verify the Ltch Housing side Screw Flnge is tight to Mounting Surfce. c With /8" bit provided, predrill through the three holes on the Ltch Housing side Screw Flnge into the Mounting Surfce mximum depth of /". c With three of the #8 - " screws, fsten Ltch Housing side of screen ssembly to the Mounting Surfce. (Be creful not to over tighten) d Expnd screen ssembly by sliding Screen Housing side until the Screw Flnge is tight to the Mounting Surfce.

From the interior of screen ssembly, position Sill dpter with the b With /8" bit provided, predrill through the three holes on the Sill dpter into the Door Sill mximum depth of /". textured side up nd screw holes in towrd the interior of the home. Insert edge of the Sill dpter into the dpter Chnnel locted on the Screen Trck (see Figure ). #0 b Lift Sill dpter nd pply selnt into predrilled holes until selnt over-flows onto Door Sill surfce. b Rotte the Sill dpter bck down to the Door Sill nd fsten using three #8 - ½" Self-Tpping Screws. Clenup excess selnt. - Mchine Flthed Rotte the Sill dpter down to the Door Sill (see Figure ). 5 Center the Sill dpter in the door opening.* * 0.5 sill dpter is designed to void the need for cutting during instlltion. Mesure door opening width t top (W), middle (W), nd bottom (W) from the inside of the exterior trim. Clculte Length of mteril to be cut off by tking the nrrowest width from bove nd subtrcting it from inches (see Exmple bove). B PPENDIX B Support Blocking for Door Sill b Mesure nd mrk from Squre End of the Screen Trck (side B) the Clculted Length. b With Hcksw mke clen squre cut through the Screen Trck t the Cut Mrk. With metl file, file down ll shrp edges. Repet steps for the other Screen Trck (side D) (see Figure ). b Mesure nd mrk from ech end of the Sill dpter the Hlved Clculted Length so equl mounts re removed from both sides (see Figure ). b With the Hcksw mke clen squre cut through the Sill dpter on both ends t the Cut Mrks. With metl file, file down ll shrp edges. Return to Mesure on Pge. EXTEND /" MIN SURFCE SUPPORT BLOCKING Choose Support Blocking the width of the Door Sill with enough depth to Extend /" Minimum out from the exterior trim Mounting Surfce. Center the Support Blocking under the sill nd mke sure it is level nd prllel to the sill. Confirm it Extends /" Minimum from Mounting Surfce. Properly secure Support Blocking below the Sill. 7 FREQUENTLY SKED QUESTIONS NDERSEN LUMINIRE RETRCTBLE INSECT. How do I open nd close the insect screen? Use the Hndle to extend insect screen to the other side of door frme. It will utomticlly ltch when fully extended. Slide the Relese Lever up or down to unltch, the insect screen will utomticlly retrct (see Figure ).. How do I lock nd unlock the insect screen? To lock the insect screen door, move the Lock Tb towrd the screen ssembly. To unlock, move the Lock Tb wy from the screen ssembly (see Figure ). RELESE LEVER HNDLE Unltching Locking/Unlocking LOCK TB HNDLE. Wht should I do to mintin my retrctble insect screen door? The screen trcks will need occsionl vcuuming to remove dirt nd debris. Cn the hndle be reversed so the locking tb is on the other side of the door? The hndle cn be removed nd reversed by unscrewing the Interior Hndle nd ressembling in the rotted reversed configurtion. Tke cre to lign the Ltch Plte with the Hndle Spindles when ressembling (see Figure ). 6. Cn the fstener clips be opened if I closed them in the wrong position during instlltion? You cn open the fstener clip by pplying downwrd pressure with flt hed screw driver until it releses open (see Figure ). 7. Cn replcement prts be purchsed if something gets dmged on my door? Prts cn be purchsed by visiting prts.ndersenstormdoors.com or clling Customer Service t It is helpful to hve your seril number when ordering prts. The door is not ltching consistently, is there n djustment tht cn be mde? The Striker cn be djusted to ssist with more consistent ltching of the unit.
