Lock into the existing lock seam of the existing copper counter flashing. Paper: Supporting surfaces under copper gutter linings shall be covered with roofing felt. Over this roofing felt, a ply of rosin-sized building paper shall be installed. Gutter Lining: Gutter lining shall be formed of cold rolled copper sheets conforming closely to profile of gutter. There shall be no longitudinal seams. If sectional contour of gutter is more than 36", cross seams shall be spaced 36" apart. If sectional contour is 36" or less, gutter lining may be formed of copper sheets in 8' or 10 lengths. Gutter linings constructed of 16 oz. or 20 oz. cold rolled copper shall have ends joined together by 3/4" wide locked and soldered cross seams. For copper linings heavier than 20 oz., ends shall be joined together by 1 1/2" lapped, riveted and soldered cross seams. Rivets shall be copper, 3/16 in diameter with copper burrs under peened heads. Rivets shall be spaced not more than 3" apart, in two staggered rows, with 1/2" edge distance. Hold Downs: Where flat or sloping sections of gutters have widths between 18" and 24", sections shall be held down by brass screws covered with 16 oz. copper cups soldered to lining. Hold downs shall be placed along center of section, spaced not more than 48" apart longitudinally. Flat or sloping sections exceeding 24" in width shall have brass screws spaced not more than 18" apart transversely and 48" apart longitudinally. Where used in wood, screws shall be No. 12 x 3/4" round head brass screws, Where used in stone, similar screws shall be set in expansion shields. Under each screw head, a brass or copper washer, 1/16 thick x 1 1/4" diameter, shall be provided. Holes in gutter lining shall be 1/2" larger than diameter of screw. Connection to Asphalt Shingle Slate or Tile Roofing: Top back edge of gutter lining shall terminate at roof edge in 3/4" loose lock seam and be secured with copper cleats spaced 24" apart. Separate apron strip made of 8' or 10 lengths of 16 oz. cold rolled copper, shall be hooked over top rear folded edge of gutter lining to form 3/4" wide loose lock seam bent down at 45 deg. This apron flashing shall extend up on roof under slate or tile roofing not less than 6" with upper edge folded 1/2" and secured by cleats spaced 24" apart. Adjacent lengths of apron flashing shall be lapped 4". Cant strips, as elsewhere specified, shall be attached to apron flashing. Connection To Copper Roofing: Method A: Where ends of batten or standing seams terminate at edge of roof, top rear edge of gutter lining shall be folded over 3/4" and shall terminate at edge of roof. Top edge of gutter lining shall be secured with copper cleats spaced 2' apart Under each standing or batten seam at roof edge, separate piece of copper, 6" wide x 10" long, shall be placed to hook over folded top edge of gutter lining; it shall be secured to roof deck by nails. Lower ends of copper roofing sheets shall hook over top rear folded edge of gutter lining to form 3/4" wide loose lock seam. Method B: Where ends of batten or standing seams do not terminate at edge of roof, rear edge of gutter lining shall extend up on roof deck under copper roofing sheets at least 6" and terminate in a 1/2" fold - where it shall be attached to roof boarding by copper cleats spaced 24" apart

6 Separate 16 oz. cold rolled copper locking strip, made from 8' or 10' lengths, shall be continuously soldered to gutter lining on roof slope. Lower edges of copper roofing sheets shall be folded 3/4" and hook into lock strip to form 3/4" wide loose lock seam. Gutter at Cornices: Outer edge of gutter linings shall extend over top of cornice and be folded 3/4" to hook over previously placed continuous edge strip. Expansion Joints: Expansion joints shall be provided midway between all outlet tubes (unless otherwise shown on the drawings); also at exterior corners, and where ends of gutters abut masonry walls. Ends of each gutter section shall be closed with cold rolled copper of same thickness as gutter lining copper and shall be flanged, riveted and soldered to gutter lining. Top edge of gutter ends shall have horizontal flange of 1 1/2" wide for connection to expansion joint cover strip. Expansion joint shall have open space - 1" wide between adjacent gutter ends, 1/2" between gutter end and adjacent wall. Cover strip, formed from 16 oz. cold rolled copper, shall be provided over expansion joint and shall be loose locked into horizontal flanges at top of gutter ends. Loose lock joints shall provide for gutter lining movement of 1/2" in either direction. Where ends of gutter abut masonry wall, there shall be 1/2" open space between gutter end and masonry wall - and cover strip shall extend under counter flashing built into masonry. Ends of cover strips shall so terminate to provide watertight connections and permit freedom of movement of gutter lining. L-type water diversion baffle shall be soldered across top of cover strip on line with centerline of gutter. HUNG MOLDED GUTTERS: Not applicable Outlet Tubes: Outlet tubes that connect to outside leaders or downspouts shall be formed of 16 oz. cold rolled copper, with locked and soldered longitudinal seam. Upper end of tube shall be flanged 1/2" and soldered to gutter lining. Tube shall extend into leader at least 3". Strainers: Strainers shall be provided at all outlet tubes. They shall be wire basket type formed of No. 14 B&S gauge copper wire, or cast bronze, and shall fit snugly in outlet tube. BUILDING EXPANSION JOINTS Not applicable. Snow Guard: Re-secure below slate with adhesive. Isolated Slate Replacement: Submit replacement slate to match existing for review and approval. To cover the event that an exact match is not achievable, include in the base bid the provision the harvesting of existing slate from the left side roof toward he rear, and replacing those along a uniform line along the roof edge with the new slate for aesthetic reasons. Carefully remove broken or cracked existing slate or missing slate. Base bid on 6 such locations. Work with surrounding slate to achieve the clearance necessary to slide the new slate up into position and to fasten. The Contractor shall include in the bid the labor and materials to replace

7 slates that may be broken during this process which could involve several slates per slate repair. Include in the bid the same harvesting operation. Copper Valley Repair: Repair the bottom of the copper valley at its termination at the box gutter at the front left side of the roof. Re-work existing copper and add slip sheet of copper under the direction of the water flow to close the gap. End
