2 PRODUCT DESIGN AND OFFERING Fluent is a leg-based series combined with storage. The precision miter construction gives every unit its crisp, rectilinear features and clean, contemporary appearance. Product options include one Arris (beveled) rim profile, 2 drawer pulls (Recessed and Rectangular), 4 veneers in 17 finishes and painted MDF in one finish. Storage can be ordered in veneer, paint, or veneer and paint combinations. Surfaces are veneer, laminate with wood rim, laminate with polypropylene rim, and limited glass applications. Surfaces are rimmed on all four sides for ease of specification and reconfiguration. A small square or large rectangular grommet is available for factory or field installations. Worksurfaces can be supported by leg assemblies, storage, or a combination of both. Modesty panels, privacy screens, and technology components attach to the underside of worksurfaces. are available in desk height (for floor application) and low height, to span over low storage. A semi-translucent polypropylene cord manager ships with every desk height leg assembly to neatly route cords from beneath the worksurface to the floor; it is applied in the field. An optional resin insert is available that slides into the reveal of the desk height leg assembly to create an end panel appearance, providing privacy and aesthetic variety. Leg assemblies cannot support any type of storage that is set on the worksurface. A support pedestal must be specified in these applications. are partial height and mount under the worksurface. Technology modesty panels are hinged and flip forward into the kneespace for wall access. 3 Technology management Occasional tables Reception stations components twist into the underside of the worksurface in the support channels. They are movable by the user and feature an undersurface receptacle bracket that accepts duplex receptacle, data face plate, and Scenario single circuit components. An undersurface wire manager is available to store cords up off the floor. Wire managers can be used in combination with the technology modesty panel. are available in various sizes with veneer or glass worksurfaces supported by the anodized aluminum leg assembly. are available in 3 configurations: L shape, U-shape, and U-shape with ADA front. They consist of the surround panels, available in veneer or paint, and the glass transaction. Worksurfaces and storage are ordered separately from the standard offering to create a variety of configuration and material combinations. FINISHES Fluent offers an extensive offering of veneers in Cherry, Maple, Walnut, Rift Oak and Painted MDF. Wood finishes Veneer finishes are Amber, Autumn, Cambridge, Ginger, Mocha, Oxford, and Toffee on Cherry; Caramel, Honey, and Natural on Maple; American, Cordovan, Espresso, and Judicial on Walnut; Latte, Toffee, Mocha on Rift Oak. Veneer finishes are semi-open pore, satin sheen Pura finish, which is Kimball Office s proprietary, water-based, ultraviolet (UV) wood finish. Painted finish Painted MDF is available in Designer White. Painted MDF is formaldehyde free and satin sheen. SUSTAINABILITY FOCUSED SCS Certified DfE standards LEED protocols Recycled content Fluent is certified to the SCS Indoor Advantage program for open plan and private office application. The entire line is fully Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) compliant, even the wood components, which are sealed inside and out with Pura, Kimball Office s proprietary UV wood finish. Painted MDF used in Fluent is formaldehyde-free; materials are sustainable and low-emitting. The series was designed using EPA Design for the Environment (DfE) standards, which consider the environmental impact of product design. Pura seals the wood to achieve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) standards, as set forth by the U.S. Green Building Council s LEED rating system and BIFMA Furniture Emission Standards (FES). Painted MDF used in Fluent is formaldehyde-free; materials are sustainable and low-emitting. We are employing Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines for recycled content of products. 4 No environmental pollutants Energy efficient Recyclability Fluent does not contain PVC, chrome or CFC s. Fluent utilizes LED lighting, which produces no heat and is more energy efficient than other lighting options. Fluent is easily disassembled for recycling. STORAGE SPECIFICATIONS All Fluent storage is finished on all sides including the top. This allows units to divide space or set against glass. The finished tops do not require a worksurface and when used alone, function as a secondary work area. Freestanding and mobile units ship standard with a counterweight to prevent tipping. Interlock mechanism is standard on lateral files to allow only one drawer open at a time. All storage is non-handed for ease of configuration. Worksurfaces support modesty panels, privacy screens, and technology components. Units set in place and do not have to be ganged together. This prevents defacing the units, and allows for future reconfiguration. (Note: Some installations may require securing units together, such as overheads suspended between set-on-surface or vertical storage. If reconfiguration is important, plan accordingly.) Storage is available in multiple widths, depths, and drawer configurations. Hinged doors and sliding doors are available in wood, and aluminum frame doors in glass or resin, for both above and below surface units. Sliding doors are single doors that slide from side to side, leaving one side as open storage. 30 and 36 wide open storage and hinged or sliding storage units for above and below surface applications feature a center divider with shelves on both sides and shelf locations from top to bottom. Additional shelves are standard on most units and allow the user to configure the space to suit their requirements. The center divider allows for shelves to be repositioned to accommodate project files, binders, and paper recycling; making Fluent storage flexible to serve multiple uses. Freestanding bookcases and other selected units will not have a center divider. Undersurface storage accepts worksurfaces running in-line or perpendicular to the pedestal. When worksurfaces are oriented perpendicular to the pedestal, it will extend past the worksurface one inch on each side. Pulls are available on all storage below the worksurface. Overhead doors have a touch latch with no pull. Locking Low storage is standard on all models that are undersurface height with drawers. Units with wood doors have optional locking. Aluminum frame doors with glass and resin, and all sliding doors are non-locking. Other selected units may not be available to lock. is 19 5/8 high and provides seating in addition to storage. Undersurface models ship with spacer rails that float the worksurface off the pedestal at 29 high. Freestanding units set in place to allow for ease of reconfiguration. Desk height storage can be used to create a variety of unique settings and configurations. They can be paired with legs and a worksurface, and worksurfaces can be placed perpendicular to the pedestal face. Specifiers can create solutions for open plan and private office application. Desk height storage can support selected set on surface storage without a worksurface. is available in selected sizes and configurations. These units provide moveable storage and fit under worksurfaces. A cushioned model is available for additional seating. A technology unit with finished back is used to store a CPU and cables anywhere within the kneespace. box/ box/file storage provides a clean pedestal front with one pull. The file drawer pulls out with the full front and the box drawers pull out separately. It is available in desk height storage and on vertical 24 wide combination wardrobe storage units. are available for undersurface use only and provide dual functions. They can be used in applications to create a single pedestal desk, to house most size CPU units or other peripherals, and to store cables. Cables route through the top and exit out the bottom. Technology support pedestals can also function as a support end when above surface storage is placed on worksurfaces, because leg assemblies cannot support the weight of above surface storage. The 15 and 18 wide models are open on the user side. The 30 and 36 wide models have doors and allow for worksurfaces to be placed perpendicular to the pedestal face. When paired with legs they create a table desk application with storage and cable management to create a neat appearance. A mobile version is available with finished back to store CPU and cables anywhere within the kneespace. is available for freestanding (39 high) application or used as undersurface storage with a worksurface (41 ½ high.) 22 deep units accept worksurfaces placed in-line and also perpendicular to the pedestal. 15 deep units accept worksurfaces running perpendicular and create bar height or standing height meeting/work areas. is 22 deep and available in 42, 50, 69 and 78 high models. Vertical storage is finished on all sides, so it can be used in open plan to divide space, provide privacy, or allow for open plan collaboration. Low heights accommodate smaller private offices by taking up less visual space. Taller units are available to provide more vertical storage space. A variety of components are available to create workwalls. Storage heights can be varied, or combine with freestanding desk height units. Vertical storage also contains the center divider with shelves. Hinged door units in 18, 30, and 36 widths and 69 and 78 heights provide shelves for storage and have a coat rod included. 24 wide units take up less space and provide wardrobe, shelf storage, and a common front box/ box/file unit in all heights. The multi-functionality of vertical storage reduces the number of units required within a space and provides personal and business storage in both private and open plan applications. 6 wood, and aluminum frame with resin or glass. 18 wide units are available in full height aluminum frame with glass or resin insert in addition to wood. Vertical storage can support suspended overhead units. Dual-sided vertical storage is accessed on opposing faces. Available 42 and 50 high, these units provide a combination of storage while maintaining a lower sight line for open plan. Units are 36 on the user side and accommodate all worksurface depths supported by legs or pedestals. The hinged door unit is intended for doors to face an aisle and the opposite side faces the user with open storage above the worksurface. The common face box/ box/file unit combines multiple functions and is three sided. It can be placed facing an aisle or next to a wall, and storage is placed to the side and above the worksurface. The top section is separate from the bottom and is reversible, so units can be converted from left-hand to right-hand application in the field. When combined with worksurfaces, leg assemblies, mobile storage, privacy screens, and technology panels, dual sided vertical storage supports flexible open plan applications. Set on surface storage is 15 deep and available in various widths and multiple heights to line up with 69 and 78 vertical storage. Units can set on a worksurface or directly on freestanding pedestals. 30 and 36 wide models feature the center divider with three shelves on each side for project and binder storage. Overhead cabinets can be suspended between set on surface units. Hinged and sliding doors are available in wood or aluminum frame with glass or resin. Set on surface storage cannot be supported by worksurfaces supported by leg assemblies. Please specify appropriate support for the application. Overhead storage is 15 deep and available in a variety of widths, plus single and double height. Overhead storage is available open, with hinged doors, or with sliding doors in wood or aluminum frame with glass or resin. Cabinets are divided into sections behind each door. Single height overhead storage has one adjustable shelf at the bottom which allows for binder and cubby storage. Double height overhead storage comes standard with an additional shelf to adjust from top to bottom for binder and cubby storage. Specific models are available for wall mount and stacking on a support assembly. Suspended models can be supported by vertical or set on storage units or freestanding units, or they can set directly on a worksurface with proper support. The stacking overhead can only be used with the support assembly which is available in highback for typical height and a lowback for lower sight line in open plan. Units stack on the support assembly utilizing a spacer disk for attachment which also creates a ¼ visual reveal. Units can vary in height, width, and finish when placed on the 72 and 90 support assembly. They can also be used in shared applications, as the stacking overhead can be placed in opposite directions. A stacking cubby is also available. Highback assemblies are available with a workwall and organization accessories. LED lighting is available for installation to the underside of an overhead or support assembly. Support assemblies cannot be supported by worksurfaces supported by legs. Please specify appropriate support. TECHNOLOGY Fluent features technology management that is simple and accessible. 7 Undersurface support channel Undersurface receptacle bracket Wire managers All worksurfaces come standard with a support channel installed on the underside to add rigidity to the worksurface and support electrical components. The support channel is notched to accept the undersurface receptacle bracket or wire manager. The units twist into the channel and can be moved along the channel to change locations by the occupant. The undersurface receptacle bracket accepts one insert such as the duplex receptacle with cord or a data face plate (by others). Multiple units can twist into the channel. The undersurface wire manager can be placed along the channel to store cords off the floor. Wire managers ship with desk height leg assembly to direct cords to the floor. Single circuit electrical components The undersurface receptacle bracket also accepts Scenario single-circuit components for single office or daisy-chained for open plan installations. Technology pedestal and modesty There is a technology/support pedestal with shelves and top cord opening, to house CPU; and a hinged, technology modesty panel to manage cords in the kneespace. INTEGRATION Fluent can be specified with other Kimball Office products within limitations. Traxx and tiles Fluent can set next to Traxx and Tiles, but worksurfaces and overheads are not designed to attach to Traxx. Suggested application: Team room where walls have Traxx and Tiles installed and Fluent is placed in the room. (Worksurfaces are 29 high when installed on an undersurface pedestal or leg [at lowest leveler] and are slightly higher than Traxx-mounted worksurfaces. 78 vertical storage sets slightly below the upper Traxx. When using this application, please consider and evaluate the height of Traxx and Tiles adjacent to Fluent components.) Xsite Fluent can be specified to set independently within Xsite panels and is not designed for attachment to Xsite. Suggested application: Open area where low panels are desired to divide space or required to provide electrical and data connections. Xsite must be specified according to specifications for panel configurations without components. Fluent worksurfaces and storage can be specified to set independently within the panels but will not use the panels for support. When using this application, please consider and evaluate the dimensions of Fluent such as worksurface widths, depths, and storage heights to compare how Fluent may fit within the panels. There are several Perks products that Fluent will not integrate with: Work Tools offered in Perks will not fit into the Highback Assembly with Workwall.
