2 Thank you for opting for a MEAstep staircase construction kit. This is a high-quality external staircase with split steel stringers (for rapid assembly and safe use). The staircase is extremely sturdy and suitable for a wide range of uses. Depending on the construction kit type, heights of up to.0 m can be reached with a variable pitch of 3 to. This construction kit has been designed for the extremely lightweight and safe MEAstep XSL range of treads. You have the choice of: Tread widths from 600,600 mm Mesh sizes of 30/30 or 30/0 A standard or slip-resistant tread design All steel parts are hot-dip galvanized to DIN EN ISO 6; all bolts, nuts, washers and other small parts have been given a special coating that offers excellent enduring protection against corrosion. The MEAstep staircase construction kit: Is quick and simple to fit Can be readily modified/cut to accommodate special requirements Offers the option of variable horizontal tread placement (for a pitch range of 3- degrees), thanks to elongated holes in the stringers Offers a one or two-sided balustrade for all kit types Can be fitted without the need for drilling as all holes for tread fitting have been pre-drilled Can readily be transported crosswise by truck since the stringers and balustrades are split The use recommended by MEA is based on the DIN 06 stair standard, i.e. all the standard specifications for the construction kits assume a pitch of 3 degrees. If you make any modifications, all cut surfaces and drilled holes must be protected immediately with zinc spray or zinc paint! 6 MEAstep Fitting instructions Step-by-step instructions. Assembly of stringers (only Types and 3) Place the stringer sections on a flat and level surface. Slide the sections together and firstly insert the Mx bolt with washers, toothed lock washer and nut into the lower connecting link, but do fully tighten this yet. Now fit the Mx30 bolt with washers, toothed lock washer and nut to the top end of the stringers. Ensure that the stringers fit against each other accurately and tighten the nut. Now tighten the nut on the lower connecting links.. Fitting of foot sections and landing connections Fit the foot sections and landing connections to the corresponding holes at the top and bottom of the stringers using Mx30 bolts, each with washers, toothed lock washer and a nut. Only tighten the nuts hand tight to enable the angle to be changed after the stringers have been placed into position. Caution open side of stringer profiles = outer side! 3 3. Fitting of treads and installation of the staircase Now place the assembled stringers on a flat and level surface, aligning them in parallel at a distance of the selected tread width. Fit the uppermost and lowermost tread, each with Mx mm bolts, washers, toothed lock washer and nuts. With the assistance of a helper, the pre-assembled staircase can now be moved to its intended location and erected; secure the foot sections and landing connections to the foundation and landing, and then tighten the corresponding connection bolts on the stringers sufficiently. Starting from the bottom, the remaining treads can now be fitted as described above; use a spirit level to perfectly straighten all of the treads and make absolutely sure that all of the bolts are tightened adequately!! For bracing, bolt both flat steels to the corresponding holes in the connection points on the undersides of the stringers, and then to their crosswise connection points (x Mx30mm, each with washers, toothed lock washer and nuts). 6 MEAstep Staircase construction kit Assembly instructions

7 (). Fitting the Balusters Fasten a handrail clamp () to the top of the balusters with a MX3 bolt, washers, toothed lock washer and nut; similarly, do not fully tighten yet. Attach the counter plates to the bottom of the balusters (), for each using Mx30mm bolts, washers, toothed lock washer and nuts; leave an approx. 6 gap between the baluster and the counter plate. Insert the balusters into the stringer profiles with the counter plate facing inwards, align them vertically and spaced at a distance (centre/centre) of max. 00 mm and tighten the bolts on the counter plates. () Now insert 6 balustrade bar holders with the hook facing outwards into each baluster and secure each with washer, toothed lock nut and M6 nut, however do not tighten these yet.. Fitting the handrail and balustrade bars () Slide the pipe sections through the handrail clamps () at the top of the attached balusters. Join the handrail pipes (for Type and Type 3) with the included connection kit as per figure ; you will need to deburr the pipe openings and knock in the plastic parts with a hammer. Important do not damage the thread!!! Insert the spacer () between the handrail pipes and screw the pipe sections together firmly. Now place the plastic caps as a closure over the upper and lower ends of the handrail and tighten the screws on the handrail clamps on the balusters. 6 Now insert the balustrade bars through the holders on the balusters for Type and Type 3 staircases. Connect these using the included connection parts as per figure 6, then straighten and tighten the securing bolts on the balusters.
