2 AVK PENSTOCK RANGE AVK UK is part of the globally renowned AVK group who are based in over 85 countries and are known as one of the leading innovators and manufacturers of high quality valves and fittings for the, waste, fire fighting and gas industries worldwide. The AVK Penstock range are designed to compliment our existing Water and Waste Water offering. High Quality Manufacture Manufactured in Europe, the AVK penstock range is designed using Finite Stress Structural Analysis (FSA) to ensure optimum rigidity and allowing for modelling that allows any undesirable deformation to be designed out pre-production. Products are also subject to FEA as part of their design. Computer controlled laser cutting and the latest robotic welding machines ensure minimal waste material and correct welding processes - minimising deformation across the penstock. Stainless steel grade 304 or 316 on Duplex gives maximum corrosion resistance with low mass for ease of installation. Quality & Testing The sealing performance of the AVK penstock offer, exceed the requirement of BS7775. This is assured by hydraulically batch testing for leak tightness and rigidity and is a feature that makes the stainless steel penstock superior to typical cast iron versions. 3 4-sided Penstock The versatile 4-sided sealing penstock is suitable for wall mounted applications. 4-sided closed frame design Suitable for wall mounting with a square or rectangular opening Standard size range: 150 to 2000mm, larger sizes available Fabricated stainless steel frame and slide, resilient rubber sealing with either non-rising spindle or rising spindle Flush invert available Bi-directional up to and including 1200 x 1200mm Uni-directional and bi-directional available on larger sizes Designed according to DIN Leakage Allowance lower than allowable in DIN (class 5) Replaceable seals Stock: Sizes up to and including 600mm square opening with 304 stainless steel construction and non-rising spindle are available ex-stock. 4 SAFOX Penstock The Safox* range of penstocks from AVK is the premium penstock offering, giving full sealing characteristics in a number of installation options. Size range : 150 to 2200mm Full sealing for wall fixing for bi-directional duty up to 6 meter head with no fixings below the invert Superior sealing Whilst leakage on penstocks is usually caused by insufficient frame stability and frame distortion, the patented Safox system is not affected by such instability due to the independence of the sealing from the frame. Due to this independence, the Safox perfectly seals to the mounting wall and sliding plate and can accommodate certain structural variations Safox Features The freely suspended sealing ring is self adjusting and requires no adjustment after mounting. Safox penstocks are non-drip leak proof on under seating and off seating heads up to 6 meter head. If required, the Safox can be supplied to withstand higher pressure. The Safox F can be supplied with flange connection, and the Safox Q for quadrangular openings is also available on request. 5 Stop log The aluminium and stainless steel stop logs are designed for open channel installation. Aluminium stop logs are designed for temporary isolation and flow control. Stop logs are ideal for maintenance and repair work on flood control and reservoirs. The stop logs are made from extruded aluminium and are easy to handle due to their: Light weight construction Bi-directional sealing Sizes to suit application Lifting devices available i.e. lifting poles or lifting beams Stainless steel stop logs are designed for waste treatment plants, irrigation, hydraulic works and hydro electric power plants. They are made from grade 304, 316 or duplex steel. The frames can be: Channel or wall mounted Bi-directional sealing Standard size range : 150 to 2000mm, larger sizes available on request Lifting devices available i.e. lifting poles or lifting beams dependent on size Flap valve The flap valves are designed for discharge lines such as river levies, sewer lines and drainage conduits and are available in either round, square or rectangular openings. Flap valves are available wall or flange mounted The flap stays closed preventing back-flow, and it opens automatically when the unseating head is higher than the seating head Standard size range : 150 to 3000mm larger sizes available For maximum corrosion resistance the flap gates are manufactured from stainless steel or duplex. 6 Site installation service AVK UK can offer a one stop site installation service to fit and commission our range of penstocks, stop logs or flap valves. Our skilled site engineers are experienced, qualified, hold the relevant site safety passports and are confined space trained. We will provide all necessary lifting equipment for the installation, and can also offer electrical / small civil installations when required. AVK UK are specialists in carrying out site surveys to establish the condition of penstocks, stop logs and flap valves, and are able to refurbish or replace existing equipment.
