2 EASY INSTALLATION GUIDE Condensed / Quick glance Installation Instructions Thank you for your interest in our Eva-tech WPC product range. Whether you plan to install your Eva-tech deck yourself or hire a professional contractor, please read the Eva-tech Installation Guidelines below before beginning construction. This will help ensure that your Eva-tech deck is built to last for years to come with virtually no maintenance, and conforms to warranty specifications. Please refer to the full Eva-tech installation Guide, available at for more detailed installation instructions. Before Installation Tools and Material: Eva-tech products require no tools other than those used for the installation of traditional timber decks. In order to properly install your Eva-tech deck you will need: Circular saw with properly sharpened Carbide Tipped Cutting blades Hammer Spirit level Tape measure Square Rubber mallet Electric screw driver / electric drill Safety equipment * Please note that Eva-tech products, other than the Eva-tech composite joist for use on self supporting surfaces, are for decking and accessory use only. They should not be used as substructure material. 2.

3 Please consult the chart below to ensure sufficient material and proper spacing of substructure joists for your deck before beginning installation. This should be a dry flat area. For uneven surfaces allow for substructure alterations to create an even base for Eva-tech decking profiles. Ensure building site will allow sufficient deck ventilation and drainage. For non-screed surfaces, plan a minimum of 100mm elevation space between the ground and the bottom of your lowest bearer. For screed surfaces, decking profiles must be elevated a minimum of 30mm above the ground. NB* Account for sufficient room for contraction and expansion between Eva-tech products, as the Eva-tech profiles contain plastic and will expand and contract more so than actual timber. The expansion and contracting of these profiles must be considered when installing. Sufficient expansion gaps must be left at butt joins as well as where the profiles meet fixed objects. The rate of expansion of the Eva-tech profiles is calculated at 3mm per running meter. Eg* 3.

4 Leave a maximum 50mm overhang of Eva-tech profiles from substructure joists. Consider temperatures at time of installation for contraction/expansion purposes. *Recommended: place Eva-tech profiles on decking site 72 hours before installation to allow acclimation to environment. Avoid pre-cutting Eva-tech planks, as not every construction wall is straight. Remember that Eva-tech material is heavier and more flexible than natural timber, so be sure to take care when transporting, carrying or when working with the material. Consult the complete Eva-tech Installation Guide, a professional contractor or the Eva-tech Technical Department for any outstanding questions or areas of uncertainty before beginning installation. During Installation (Wear safety equipment) Always pre-drill holes and ensure all screws are secure but not over tightened during installation. This will help prevent pressure cracks. Eva-tech Decking: Eva-tech profiles: lay perpendicular to joists for standard deck. Take extreme care that first/starter profile is laid perfectly straight, as all subsequent planks will follow its line. Fixing your first profile can be done in 2 ways: 1. Using starter clips (recommended when installing profiles 3m and longer, as this will allow boards to slide freely when expanding & contracting). 2. Top fixing with composite decking screw (Profiles 3m long or less, for expansion & contraction reasons). Attach subsequent profiles to joists with decking clips. Pre-load clip with Eva-tech screw, as per drawing below. Hold clip over joist and tighten to 75% to hold joist in place. Move the next profile into position, then sufficiently tighten clips. Do not over tighten, as this may break the clip. Top fix last/end profile, as shown with the starter profile in the drawing above. Please remember to always pre-drill holes to avoid cracking. Drill holes and screws should be no closer than 30mm from the edge of the profile. 4.

5 NB* Fixing for butt joints: All butt joints must sit on a doubled up support joist for either timber joist or composite batten. Install a second support joist as shown for proper attachment of the hidden clip. Rigid installation of a second Joist support, allowing sufficient space for a second clip. Once the support joist is in place, the clips can be secured alongside one another. Eva-tech decking clips: Fit easily, do not force into Eva-tech plank groove (for expansion & contraction reasons). Use a minimum of 22 Eva-tech decking clips per square meter of decking. This applies to the Horizon, Ascent and Classic ranges of profiles. Screw clip into joist, taking care that screw goes down straight and into center of joist. Eva-tech fascia board: Screw directly into the side of the decks perimeter board. Use two screws fixed rigidly every 300mm along the profile, and no more than 40mm from start/finish edge. NB* Allow a ventilation gap of 40mm between the bottom of the facia board and the ground. After Installation Sit back on your new Eva-tech deck, have a cold one and enjoy the view.
