1 1/7 1.0 APPLICATION This specification describes the minimum requirements for piping systems for the following service: Liquid and High Pressure Gaseous Dry Sulphur Dioxide (Less than 100 ppm of water) Design Condition F to 225 F Operating Conditions F to 150 F Design, Fabrication, Installation, Approval Requirements ASME Pressure Piping Category "M" Fluid Service, Chemical Plant and ASME B31.3 Petroleum Refinery Piping Piping Classification and Identification Identify and paint the piping system according to the requirements indicated SPEC on the project drawings or the scope of work. Do Not Paint stainless steel components. SPEC Piping General Requirements SPEC System Approvals Quality Requirements Piping systems are subject to the approval of TSSA, Boilers and Pressure Vessels Safety Division. TP316L, seamless bevelled ends. Schedule 0 carbon steel ASTM A20 Gr. WPL6, butt weld to ASME B16.9. Fittings or Schedule 0S stainless steel ASTM A03 Gr. WP-S 316L seamless, butt weld to ASME B16.9

5 5/7 3.0 TESTING Testing must meet the requirements of ASME B31.3, Cat. M, and PROC (hydrostatic testing) or SPEC-3508 (pneumatic testing only at the discretion of the Engineer) and specific instructions in the scope of work. Test Pressure Duration Additional Requirements Hydrostatic Testing 50 PSIG hrs Use water as a test medium and dry the piping system using instrument air to -0 F dew point after test is completed ** Pneumatic Testing 330 PSIG Per code For minor repairs only **For minor repairs only, a pneumatic pressure test may be used in lieu of a hydrostatic pressure test. Subject the system to the sensitive leak test described in ASME B31.3 using nitrogen as the test medium. Test at 75 PSIG..0 EXAMINATION AND INSPECTION Perform nondestructive examinations in accordance with ASME B31.3, Cat. M, and the following: % visual examination of all types of materials, welded joints, bolted assemblies etc. to ensure the piping system complies with the specifications and is free from defects % random examination of each welder's work using radiography or ultrasonic. 5.0 SAFETY NOTE Vent to process vents when purging or venting S0 2 lines. 6.0 APPENDICES Appendix A: Branch Connections
