3 PART A: ROUTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR KEEPER ASSEMBLIES AND DEADBOLT ACTUATOR STEP 1: MEASURE DISTANCE BETWEEN LOCK PAWL CENTERLINES X Lock Pwl. Determine nd mrk the centerline of oth lock pwls on the strgl.. Mesure distnce etween the two centerlines (X). Mesurement should end with 3/8". c. Record mesurement for use with Endur templte. Lock Pwl STEP 2A: ROUT ACTIVE DOOR PANEL FOR KEEPER ASSEMBLY (WITH ENDURA ROUTING TEMPLATE) I ACTIVE PANEL STRIKE SIDE ROUTER TEMPLATE (templte is symmetricl) CLAMP CLAMP I. LOWER ROUT:. Depending on the pnel thickness (either 1-3/4" thick or 1-11/16" thick), identify the corresponding side of the templte.. Position the router templte so tht the centerline of the templte is 8-5/16" from the ottom of the door pnel. c. Securely clmp router templte in plce. d. Using 5/8" dimeter collr nd 1/2" it, rout the pocket for the keeper ssemly. Ech side of the templte corresponds to either 1-3/4" door or 1-11/16" door pnel nd is leled ccordingly. II Templte Active Door Pnel CLAMP Top of Door Pnel 8-5/16" CLAMP X Bottom of Door Pnel Lower Rout II. UPPER ROUT:. Determine the position of the upper rout y dding 8-5/16" to the mesurement of distnce etween the lock pwls' centerline (X) on the strgl from Step 1 (X + 8-5/16"). Distnce will lwys end in 11/16" nd will vry in 1" increments. Exmple: If the centerline distnce is 60-3/8", the templte position would e 65-11/16" (60-3/8" + 8-5/16" = 68-11/16"). Mesure from the centerline of the templte in the lower rout position nd mrk the new position s the centerline of the templte in the upper rout position. c. Securely clmp router templte in plce. d. Using 5/8" dimeter collr nd 1/2" it, rout the pocket for the keeper ssemly. Multi-Point Astrgl Prehnger Instructions 3

4 STEP 2B: ROUT ACTIVE DOOR PANEL FOR KEEPER ASSEMBLY (WITHOUT ENDURA ROUTING TEMPLATE) NOTE: If you completed Step 2A, plese proceed to Step 3. The steps elow re only for routing without n Endur templte.. Determine Lower Rout Pocket Position: The ottom of the lower rout pocket should e 7-1/16" from the ottom of the door pnel.. Determine Upper Rout Pocket Position: The ottom of the upper rout pocket should e X (the distnce etween the lock pwls' centerline) + 7-1/16" from the ottom of the door pnel (X+7-1/16"). The distnce will end in 7/16" nd will vry in 1" increments: Exmple: If the centerline distnce is 60-3/8", the pocket position would e 67-7/16" (60-3/8" + 7-1/16" = 67-7/16") c. Once the pocket positions re locted nd clerly mrked, rout the door pnel using the mesurements included in the Rout Detil guide on the right R X = Distnce etween the lock pwls' centerline DEEP 7-1/16" ROUT DETAIL Center on pnel thickness STEP 3: INSTALL KEEPER ASSEMBLY INTO ACTIVE DOOR PANEL KEEPER ORIENTATION c Open Side of Keeper Brrel of Hinges NOTE: Keeper pivot rm rests in. Insert keeper ssemly into ech pocket s. Secure the keeper ssemlies y c. To confirm proper opertion, check n open position. shown. 5 STEP 4A: ROUT INACTIVE DOOR PANEL FOR DEADBOLT ACTUATOR (WITH ENDURA ROUTING TEMPLATE) Top of Active Door Pnel Distnce etween the top of the Active Door Pnel to Dedolt Dedolt Dedolt. Mrk the center of the rout loction t the centerline of the dedolt crossore.. Position the dedolt centerline to e lined up with the lower smll mrk on the templte. The templte should e ligned s shown ove. d. Rout the pocket using 1/2" router it with 5/8" dimeter collr, rout slot in the door pnel 7/16" deep. Multi-Point Astrgl Prehnger Instructions 5

6 STEP 4B: ROUT INACTIVE DOOR PANEL FOR DEADBOLT ACTUATOR (WITHOUT ENDURA ROUTING TEMPLATE) NOTE: If you completed Step 4A, plese proceed to Step 5. Below steps re for routing without n Endur templte only. Drill Hole #2: c 1" Dimeter x Hole 2 Hole 3 7/16" Deep Top of Door Pnel Distnce etween the top of the Active Door Pnel to Dedolt Drill Hole #1: 1" Dimeter x 7/16" Deep 1-1/4" Center to Center Hole #1 Drill Hole #3: 1" Dimeter x 7/16" Deep Hole 1. Mrk the center of the rout loction t the centerline of the dedolt crossore. Once mrked, drill hole tht is 1" in dimeter nd 7/16" deep.. Drill second hole 1-1/4" ove the first hole. This hole will lso e 1" in dimeter nd 7/16" deep. c. Drill third hole directly in etween holes 1 nd 2. This hole will e 1" in dimeter nd 7/16" deep. PART B: INSTALL ASTRAGAL ONTO INACTIVE DOOR PANEL INITIAL PREPARATION Ensure tht you hve the correct length nd hnding of strgl for your door. Remove the trim strip nd screw pck from the strgl ody nd set side. If tpe is present on the ck of the strgl, peel off the cking. Lip should fit snug ginst the door pnel If present, peel tpe cking to secure strgl to pssive door Top View of Inctive Door B-Sel Gsket Confirm the thickness of your door pnel. For door pnels with thicknesses of 1-11/16", pply the ville B-sel gsket to ccommodte the gp etween the pnel fce nd strgl. Bck of Astrgl On the ck of the strgl, shipping clip secures the dedolt ctutor. Using Phillips Screwdriver, remove the screws nd discrd the shipping clip. Multi-Point Astrgl Prehnger Instructions 6

7 STEP 5: PLACE ASTRAGAL ON DOOR PANEL INSWING Top nd ottom of the strgl should e flush with the door pnel. For Inswing doors, the wide side of strgl goes on outside of the door. For Outswing doors, the wide side of strgl goes on inside of the door. The top nd ottom of the strgl should e flush with the top nd ottom of the door pnel.. Press the strgl down long the length of the pnel. A totl of five ornge securing pins will pop up round the lower nd upper lock pwls, nd the upper olt sleeve. If present, ensure the cking of the tpe is removed efore! pressing down. STEP 6: SECURE ASTRAGAL TO DOOR PANEL Plese refer to the Product Reference Guide on Pge 2 to identify the different components within the strgl. For Step 6, only tighten screws until flush with mting surfces. Do not overtighten the screws. Shown Shown Upper Bolt Shown c Bottom of Pnel Bottom of Pnel Top of Pnel. Keeping the ornge securing pins in plce, instll #8 x 1-1/2" screws in the holes djcent to the pins.. Remove the ornge securing pins from the lower olt nd replce them with #8 x 1-1/2" screws. c. 8 STEP 6 (CONT.): SECURE ASTRAGAL TO DOOR PANEL Upper Bolt Shown d e Upper Bolt Sleeve Shown f Upper Bolt Sleeve Shown Top of Pnel d. Remove the ornge securing pins from the upper olt nd replce them with #8 x 1-1/2" screws. e. Instll #8 x 1-1/2" screw next to the popped ornge securing pin on the upper olt sleeve. f. Remove the ornge securing pin from the upper olt sleeve nd replce it with #8 x 1-1/2" screw. g Flip Lever Assemly Shown h Sleeve Shown Sleeve Shown i Bottom of Pnel g. Secure the flip lever ssemly with two #8 x 1-1/2" screws. h. Remove the lower olt sleeve retiner screw nd slide out the lower olt sleeve. i. 9 STEP 6 (CONT.): SECURE ASTRAGAL TO DOOR PANEL j Sleeve Shown Sleeve Shown x2 k Dedolt Actutor Top of Pnel Strike Retiner j. Return the olt sleeve onto the lower olt nd reinstll the screw securing the olt sleeve. k. Instll two #8 x 1" screws into the holes in the strgl ody on either side of the strike retiner nd dedolt ctutor. STEP 7: DETERMINE DEADBOLT ACTUATOR POSITION Dedolt Scoreline Dedolt c Dedolt d Dedolt Actutor Actutor nd Actutor Scoreline Scoreline Scoreline Dedolt Crossore <1/4" >1/4". Check where the dedolt ctutor scoreline is positioned reltive to the dedolt centerline.. If the ctutor scoreline is in line with the pnel dedolt crossore centerline, skip to Step 9. c. If the ctutor scoreline is within 1/4" of the pnel dedolt crossore centerline, follow Step 8A. d. If the ctutor scoreline is more thn 1/4" from the pnel dedolt crossore centerline, follow Step 8B. 10 STEP 8A: ALIGN ACTUATOR WITH DEADBOLT HOLE (ONLY ADJUSTMENTS UNDER 1/4")! x2 ONLY Move dedolt ctutor up or down to line up the scoreline. c Actutor Adjuster Screw Hold Down the Lock Pwl Actutor Adjuster Screw of the Inctive Pnel Dedolt Bore Bottom of Pnel. Loosen the ctutor djuster screw TWO TURNS ONLY!. Move the ctutor up or down to line up the score line on the ctutor ody with the center of the dedolt crossore. c. While holding down the lock pwl on the ottom olt, tighten the dedolt ctutor djuster screw. d Actutor Adjuster Teeth Enggement Adjustment Insert d. 11 STEP 8B: ALIGN ACTUATOR WITH DEADBOLT HOLE (ONLY ADJUSTMENTS OVER 1/4"). Rotte the ctutor out of the strgl ody towrd the nrrow edge of the strgl.. Line up the scoreline on the ctutor ody with the center of the inctive pnel dedolt crossore nd rotte the ctutor into the strgl ody, strting t nrrow edge of strgl. c d Actutor Adjuster Screw Actutor Adjuster Screw Hold Down the Lock Pwl Actutor Adjuster Bottom of Pnel Teeth Enggement Adjustment Insert c. While holding down the lock pwl on the ottom olt, tighten the dedolt ctutor djuster screw. d. Ensure the teeth on the ctutor djuster engge into the rck teeth on the djustment insert. 12 STEP 9: SECURE THE DEADBOLT ACTUATOR Drive screw heds just flush with the surfce of the ctutor. Dedolt Actutor. Drill Ø1/8" x 1-1/2" deep pilot holes t ech dedolt ctutor hole. Instll four #8 x 3" pinted screws into ech ctutor hole.. After securing the ctutor, remove the tpe which holds the ctutor in plce during instlltion.! Do not overtighten the screws. STEP 10: CONFIRM FLIP LEVER OPERATION. Engge the flip lever ssemly nd ensure oth the upper nd lower olts move in nd out smoothly. Upper Bolt. If the olts do not operte smoothly: Check for olt ostructions. Check tht the screws in the strgl re not overtightened in the strgl ody. The top of the screw should e flush with the strgl ody. If the lever opertion is difficult, slightly loosen the screws securing the flip lever ssemly. Multi-Point Astrgl Prehnger Instructions 12

13 STEP 11: CONFIRM DEADBOLT ACTUATOR OPERATION Press Upper Bolt Lock Pwl Lock Pwl. Operte the dedolt ctutor y pressing down on it. Ensure the top nd ottom lock pwls move etween engged nd disengged positions. STEP 12: SIZE AND INSTALL TRIM STRIP Trim strip is included s single, full-length piece nd must e sized to fit ppropritely etween the strgl components. For ech segment, mesure, cut nd instll the trim strip, ensuring the seling fin side of the trim stip is instlled on the side closest to the wetherstrip on the strgl. Before mesuring the length etween strgl components, check the following: Secure the strike plte into the proper loction y ligning it with the lever crossore hole nd tighten the screws into the retiner. Ensure the upper nd lower olts re in the retrcted position.. Mesure the length etween the strgl components. X 1 X 2 X 3 X 4 X 5 Multi-Point Astrgl Prehnger Instructions 13

14 STEP 12 (CONT.): SIZE AND INSTALL TRIM STRIP. Cut the trim strip into pproprite sizes. Seling Fin on Trim Strip X 1 X 2 X 3 X 4 X 5 c. Instll trim into strgl ody. X 1 c X 1 X 2 X 2 X 3 X 4 Upper Trim Strips: Align X 1 with the top of the upper olt nd top of the upper lock pwl housing. Press down to secure. Align X 2 with the ottom of the upper lock pwl housing nd the top of the dedolt ctutor. Press down to secure. X 5 X 3 & X 4 X 5 Seling Fin on Trim Strip Wetherstrip (gry to show contrst) Middle Trim Strips: Align X 3 with the Lower Trim Strip: Align X 5 with the ottom of the dedolt ctutor nd ottom of the flip lever ssemly the top of the strike retiner. Press nd the top of the lower lock pwl Seling Fin on Trim Strip: down to secure. Align X 4 with the housing. Press down to secure. The seling fin should e ligned closest to ottom of the strike retiner nd the the wetherstrip for the est performnce. top of the flip lever ssemly. Press down to secure. 15 STEP 13: INSTALL OPTIONAL SECURITY FLANGE (OUTSWING ONLY) Active Door Pnel OUTSWING DOORS ONLY Inside Outside Active Door Pnel Top View. Position the security flnge on the ctive door pnel with the wide flnge fcing the outside of the house. Peel the tpe cking nd secure ginst the ctive pnel.. Instll the screws through the predrilled holes to secure the flnge snug ginst the fce of the ctive door. STEP 14: APPLY HARDWARE PROTECTIVE COVERS OVER KEEPERS HARDWARE REMOVE COVER AFTER PAINTING HARDWARE REMOVE COVER AFTER PAINTING. Plce the dhesive cked protective covers over ech keeper ssemly.
