2 Dt Communictions Connecting the FOMA hndset nd PC llows you to use three types of dt communictions (pcket communiction, 64K dt communiction nd dt trnsfer (OBEX)). Aville Dt Communictions from the FOMA Hndset Pcket Communiction Pcket communiction is communiction method whose chrges re sed on the mount of dt exchnged. It llows dt communiction t mximum speed of 384Kps for receiving nd 64Kps for sending. In order to perform pcket communiction, connect the FOMA hndset nd PC using FOMA USB Cle (optionl) or vi Bluetooth nd connect to n ccess point of DoCoMo's Internet connection service "moper U" or "moper", tht hndles the FOMA pcket communiction. Note tht the communiction fees my ecome high if you use pcket communiction to send/ receive dt. 64K Dt Communiction 64K dt communiction is communiction method whose chrges re sed on the time connected to the network. It llows dt communiction t speed of 64Kps. In order to perform 64k dt communiction, connect the FOMA hndset nd PC using FOMA USB Cle (optionl) or vi Bluetooth nd connect to n ccess point of DoCoMo's Internet connection service "moper U" or "moper", tht hndles the FOMA 64K dt communiction or n ccess point tht hndles ISDN synchronous 64K. Note tht the communiction fees my ecome high if you use 64K dt communiction to connect for long time. Dt Trnsfer (OBEX) Dt trnsfer is communiction method tht exchnges dt using the FOMA USB Cle, infrred, or Bluetooth. In order to trnsfer dt y connecting the FOMA hndset nd PC with the FOMA USB Cle, dt link softwre must e instlled on the PC. In order to trnsfer dt using infrred or Bluetooth, communiction device such s PC must e equipped with infrred or Bluetooth cpility. Connecting the FOMA Hndset nd PC, etc. The following connection methods re ville to connect the FOMA hndset to PC to perform dt communictions: Using the FOMA USB Cle (optionl) (USB Connection) Connecting the FOMA hndset to PC with the FOMA USB Cle llows you to use ll communiction methods (pcket communiction, 64K dt communiction nd dt trnsfer (OBEX)). The communiction setup files (drivers) must e instlled efore connecting with the FOMA USB Cle. P4 When using the USB connection, set the USB mode to "Communiction mode". P5 Using Bluetooth (Bluetooth Connection) Using Bluetooth llows you to use ll communiction methods (pcket communiction, 64K dt communiction nd dt trnsfer (OBEX)). Use stndrd Bluetooth modem or Bluetooth modem provided y Bluetooth device mnufcturer to connect vi Bluetooth. For instlltion nd configurtion of modem, contct the mnufcturer of your PC or Bluetooth device. Using Infrred Using infrred llows you to use the communiction method of dt trnsfer (OBEX). You cn exchnge dt with PC, etc. with infrred cpility. Precutions efore Use Internet Service Provider Fees Fees to n Internet service provider (ISP) my e required to connect to the Internet. These fees re in ddition to the FOMA service fees nd re pid to your ISP directly. For detiled informtion on connection fees, contct your ISP. You cn use "moper U" or "moper", DoCoMo's Internet connection service. A seprte suscription (fee-sed) is required to use "moper U". To use "moper", no seprte suscription is required, nd no monthly usge fee pplies. Setting the Internet Connection (Internet service providers, etc.) Pcket communiction nd 64K dt communiction use different ccess points. For pcket communiction, use n ccess point comptile with pcket communiction, nd for 64K dt communiction, use the FOMA 64K dt communiction or use n ccess point comptile with ISDN synchronous 64K. User Authentiction to Access Networks Depending on the ccess point, user uthentiction (ID nd pssword) my e required to connect. If required, enter the ID nd pssword from the dil-up network. Required Conditions for Pcket nd 64K Dt Communictions The following conditions must e met to perform communictions using the FOMA hndset ( connection my not e estlished if trffic is hevy t the se sttion or if rdio signls re wek). The PC must hve n interfce for the FOMA USB Cle. To connect vi Bluetooth, the device such s PC must e comptile with Dil-Up Networking. Profile of Bluetooth stndrd Version 1.2 The FOMA hndset must e in FOMA service re. The ccess point must support FOMA pcket communiction for pcket communiction. The ccess point must support FOMA 64K dt communiction or ISDN synchronous 64K for 64K dt communiction. Dt Communiction Glossry APN (Access Point Nme) Identifies n ccess point (ISP or LAN) for pcket communiction. The Internet connection service for DoCoMo, "moper U" hs "moper.net" s its APN. cid (Context Identifier) A registrtion numer of n APN of pcket communiction to the FOMA hndset. The FOMA hndset cn contin up to 10 APNs using cid DNS (Domin Nme System) The dtse system tht trnsltes domin nme ddress such s "nttdocomo.co.jp" into numericl IP ddress for PCs. OBEX (Oject Exchnge) A protocol for file trnsfer defined y IrDA (Infrred Dt Assocition). Dt such s Contcts, Schedule events, or imges cn e exchnged with devices tht hndle the OBEX protocol. QoS (Qulity of Service) Indictes the network service qulity. You cn specify conditions of dt communiction speed in the FOMA hndset configurtions (ctul communiction speed vries depending on the communiction conditions). W-TCP The TCP prmeter is used to get the full utiliztion of the TCP/IP trnsmission cpility for pcket communictions over the FOMA network. The TCP prmeter must e optimized to get the most out of the communiction cpility of the FOMA hndset. Administrtor Privileges Access rights tht llow ccess to ll functions on Windows XP or Windows 2000 system. A user without dministrtor privileges cnnot instll or uninstll drivers or FOMA PC Configurtion Softwre. 5 FOMA PC configurtion softwre This softwre is to e instlled on PC to quickly configure settings of dil-up connections, etc. tht re required to perform dt communiction. Instlling the Communiction Configurtion Files (Drivers) You need to instll the communiction configurtion files so tht the FOMA hndset cn e used from the PC efore connecting the FOMA hndset nd the PC vi USB connection for the first time. The communiction configurtion file is not required for Bluetooth connection. The communiction configurtion files instlling with the FOMA hndset not connected to PC. Be sure to instll the communiction configurtion files from user ccount with the dministrtor privileges. For settings nd opertions regrding PC dministrtor privileges, contct your PC mnufcturer or Microsoft Inc. Check tht no other softwre is running efore instlling the communiction configurtion files. USB connector Use the exclusive FOMA USB Cle to connect the FOMA hndset nd PC. A commercilly ville USB cle hs different connector shpe nd cnnot e connected to the FOMA miniusb conversion dpter M01. Do not use excessive force inserting the FOMA USB Cle or FOMA miniusb conversion dpter M01 connector. Connectors won't work unless they re inserted t the pproprite direction nd ngle. When connectors re inserted correctly, they cn e inserted smoothly without requiring force. If you cnnot insert connector properly, do not use excess force nd check the shpe nd direction of the connector. Unplugging While pressing the relese uttons of the externl connector of the FOMA USB Cle, pull the cle in horizontl position from the FOMA miniusb conversion dpter M01 If you pull it forcily, mlfunction my result. 9 Mke the Device Registrtion of the FOMA Hndset nd PC After the FOMA hndset ecome serch redy, serch for the FOMA hndset from the PC, register the device, nd connect the FOMA hndset nd the PC vi Bluetooth. If you connect the FOMA hndset nd the PC fter registering the device, registering the device (Steps 1 to 4) re not necessry. For connecting the devices fter they re registered, refer to the instruction mnul tht cme with the PC or device such s the Bluetooth dpter tht is connected to the PC. (Connection) y (Bluetooth Link) y "Find Me" This screen does not open when Bluetooth on the FOMA hndset is turned on. The Device registrtion screen opens on the FOMA hndset when you strt the registering process. For serching nd registering devices, refer to the instruction mnul tht cme with the PC or the device such s Bluetooth dpter tht is connected to the PC. It is recommended tht you turn off Bluetooth devices round the PC other thn the FOMA hndset efore serching nd registering devices. P8 Checking the Registered Devices Check the settings of the Bluetooth devices registered to the FOMA hndset nd the PC to mke sure you re redy to perform dt communictions vi Bluetooth. For the device nme displyed on the FOMA hndset nd the modem nme displyed on the PC, refer to the instruction mnul of your PC or the device connected the PC, such s the Bluetooth dpter. Checking the Settings of Devices Registered to the FOMA Hndset Verify the connection method etween the FOMA hndset nd the device. Using the FOMA PC configurtion softwre llows you to perform the following settings quickly: (Esy Settings) Follow the instructions to "Set up the dil-up connection for FOMA dt communiction" nd t the sme time "Configure W-TCP" utomticlly. W-TCP Settings Optimize the communiction settings on the PC efore using "FOMA pcket communiction". Communiction settings need to e optimized y W-TCP settings in order to get the most out of the communiction cpility. APN Settings Configure the ccess point (APN) settings required for pcket communiction. The regulr phone numer is not used to connect to the FOMA pcket communiction ccess point, unlike 64K dt communiction. Sve APN (Access Point Nme) for ech ccess point on the FOMA hndset in dvnce, then specify the registrtion numer (cid) in the ccess point numer field to connect. "moper.ne.jp",the ccess point of "moper", is sved in cid1 nd "moper.net", the ccess point of "moperu" is sved in cid3 y defult. Terminting Bluetooth Connection After dt communiction finished, terminte the Bluetooth connection etween the PC nd the FOMA hndset. Perform steps to disconnect the PC nd the FOMA hndset For disconnection steps, refer to the instruction mnul of your PC or the Bluetooth device dded to the PC. You cn configure settings for pcket communiction or 64K dt communiction without using the FOMA PC configurtion softwre. P19, P24 If the FOMA PC configurtion softwre version or its older version (herefter old FOMA PC configurtion softwre) is instlled, uninstll the old FOMA PC configurtion softwre in dvnce. P11 Instlling the FOMA PC Configurtion Softwre Be sure to instll the FOMA PC configurtion softwre from user ccount with the dministrtor privileges.
