INTRODUCTION 1 Introduction General information about these instructions To make it easier for you to navigate within these instructions, the following markings were used within the text: Safety instructions, which have to be taken note of in order to protect operators and equipment, have been written in bold and been given the pictogram. Special notes, which are to facilitate the use of the tester, have been written in italics and also been given a pictogram. Designation on the tester (switch/diode designations) taken over into the text are written in bold. For more detailed information which is not included within the scope of these instructions please refer to the following separate coin validator instructions: General description G General description G General information about the testers Tester G has a 5 digit display and tester G has a 4 digit display. As there is no other difference between the two testers in terms of function, both devices shall be described in one and the same manual. Both testers are used to check the function of the NRI G-13 totalizer. Instead of the vending machine, the tester receives the signals from the totalizer. If, when testing the totalizer, no signal is received by the tester, the line between the totalizer and the tester (vending machine) is defective. In addition, the tester is part of the device environment if the totalizer, when connected to a PC, is programmed and adjusted using the NRI software WinEMP, KunEMP, or ServEMP. The purpose of the tester is mainly as a supply of electricity for the totalizer. 3
INTRODUCTION Scope of delivery In addition to tester G or G the following items are included in delivery: 1 mains cable 1 earthing cable 1 extension cable to the distributor (16 contacts) 1 distributor letter of information with reference to NRI Homepage to download the appropriate operating instructions 4
CONSTRUCTION AND FUNCTION 2 Construction and function To easily place the tester at different angles, the tester has a movable stand (see Fig. 1a). If it is to be in a flat position and not at an angle, the stand can be positioned so that it is pointing up or to the front. The tester is then standing on four non-slip feet RÜ. SP. LÖ Front plate 2 Rear side 3 Stand Fig. 1a: Tester G The only difference between tester G and tester G shown here is that the first has a 4 digit display instead of a 5 digit display. 5
CONSTRUCTION AND FUNCTION The tester s operating elements are on the front plate: a mains switch and a number of toggle switches to check the function of the totalizer. Depending on the position of the switches, programming and functionality of the totalizer, a number of pilot lamps assigned to the different functions, light up. The money inserted into the coin validator is displayed on the 5 digit/4 digit display. (See Fig. 1b) RÜ. SP. LÖ. 3 Fig. 1b: Operating elements of tester G Mains switch 2 Display 3 Toggle switch SP. 8 STARTING UP 3 Starting up The testers can only be used to test G-13 totalizers. Do not connect any other coin validators or totalizers to the tester. Only use the connecting cables included in delivery. Non-compliance with these instructions can cause the failure of the system and damage the equipment. To connect the totalizer to the tester: Ensure that the mains switch on the tester has been switched off. Connect the G-13 totalizer with the tester using the interfaces shown in Fig. 2, the enclosed band cable and if necessary the distributor Fig. 2: Interfaces of tester G and G Mains connection 2 Earth connection 3 Totalizer connection (16 contacts) Connect the tester to earth using the earth connection and the earthing cable (see Fig. 2). Connect the tester to the electricity supply using the mains connection and the mains cable (see Fig. 2). Switch the tester on using the mains switch. 8
FUNCTION TEST 2 PRICE TOTALIZER 4 Function test As the different models of the G-13 totalizer (2 price totalizer/timer/tv totalizer) have different functions and these are checked in different ways, the chapter Function test has been sub-divided into three sections. Function test of the 2 price totalizer The following paragraphs describe how to test the functions of the G-13 2 price totalizer. For details on how to operate the 2 price totalizer, please refer to the separate operating instructions for the coin validator. Check price signal lines and blocking signal/reset signal line In the case of the G-13 2 price totalizer, the price is totalled until the set price has been reached or exceeded. The respective price signal line is activated. If the sales process has been completed, the credit must be deleted using the blocking signal or the reset signal line. Using the tester you can check whether the price signal line is activated once the price has been reached. Reset using the blocking signal line SP. If the totalizer deletes the credit via the blocking signal line (standard), please ensure that toggle switch SP. is in the lower switch position. insert as many coins into the coin validator until the 1 st or 2 nd selling price set has been reached or exceeded. The credit is totalled and displayed. If the credit reaches the price and if the price signal line is activated, pilot lamp 1 (1 st price) or 2 (2 nd price) must light up. When the greater of the two set prices has been reached, both pilot lamps light up (1 and 2). SP. put toggle switch SP. into the upper position. The blocking signal line is activated. Pilot lamp 1 or 2 and the credit displayed must be deleted. 9
FUNCTION TEST 2 PRICE TOTALIZER Reset via the reset signal line SP. If the totalizer deletes the credit via the reset signal line, please ensure that toggle switch SP. is in the lower switch position. insert as many coins into the coin validator until the 1 st or 2 nd selling price set has been reached or exceeded. The credit is totalled and displayed. If the credit reaches the price and if the price signal line is activated, pilot lamp 1 (1 st price) or 2 (2 nd price) must light up. When the greater of the two set prices has been reached, both pilot lamps light up (1 and 2). LÖ. Push toggle switch LÖ. up or down briefly. If the reset signal line is activated, pilot lamp 1 or 2 and the credit displayed must be deleted. Check coin return To check whether inserted coins are directed into the return area and not into the cash-box when the return lever is activated, simply operate the return lever on the totalizer. Pilot lamp RÜ. should light up. The coins inserted are directed into the return area. 10
FUNCTION TEST TIMER Function test of the timer The following paragraphs describe how to test the functions of the G-13 timer. For details on how to operate the timer, please refer to the separate operating instructions for the coin validator. Check price signal lines and reset signal lines The G-13 timer totals the credit and displays it on the display until the set start price has been reached or exceeded. The required function is triggered by the respective signal line. From now on the time equivalent to the credit is displayed and no longer the amount of credit even if additional coins are inserted. Once the last time unit has started, the second price signal line must be activated e.g. to emit an acoustic signal. Once the time unit has expired, the function is stopped and the credit is deleted. The vending machine can stop the current time using the reset signal line. Using the tester you can check whether the price signal lines are activated when the start price has been reached or when the last time unit has been activated and whether the time running is interrupted by operating the reset signal line. SP. Check price signal lines Please ensure that toggle switch SP. is in the lower switch position. Insert as many coins into the coin validator until the start price set has been reached or exceeded. The credit inserted is totalled and displayed initially. Once the credit reaches the start price and if the price signal line is activated, the time must be displayed and pilot lamp 1 must light up. Additional coins can be inserted into the coin validator. The displayed time changes accordingly. Once the last time unit is activated, the 2 nd price signal line must be activated independently and pilot lamp 2 must light up. If time has run out completely, the time display and both pilot lamps (1 and 2) must switch off. If inventory impulses have been programmed on the 2 nd signal line, they are shown by pilot lamp 2 flashing (for the function of the inventory impulses please refer to the separate operating instructions for the coin validator). 11
FUNCTION TEST TIMER SP. LÖ. Check reset signal line Please ensure that toggle switch SP. is in the lower switch position. Insert as many coins into the coin validator until the start price set has been reached or exceeded. The credit inserted is totalled and displayed initially. Once the credit reaches the start price and if the price signal line is activated, the time must be displayed, a dot behind the last digit of the display must flash and pilot lamp 1 must light up. Additional coins can be inserted into the coin validator. The displayed time changes accordingly. If the current function is to be interrupted now, push toggle switch LÖ. up or down briefly. If the reset signal line is activated, the time remaining must be interrupted. The dot behind the last digit on the display does not flash any more. Check blocking signal line To ensure that the coin validator does not accept any coins when common blocking has been activated, simply move toggle switch SP. into the upper switch position. Now the function common blocking has been activated. All coins inserted are directed into the return area. Check coin return To check whether inserted coins are directed into the return area and not into the cash-box when the return lever is activated, simply operate the return lever on the totalizer. Pilot lamp RÜ. should light up. The coins inserted are directed into the return area. 12
FUNCTION TEST TV TOTALIZER Function test of the TV totalizer The following paragraphs describe how to test the functions of the G-13 TV totalizer. For details on how to operate the TV totalizer, please refer to the separate operating instructions for the coin validator. Check price signal lines In the case of the G-13 TV totalizer, the credit is totalled and displayed until the set game price has been reached or exceeded and at least one output impulse has been transmitted to the tester (vending machine). The 1 st price signal line is activated and the credit reset automatically. A higher number of output signals can be assigned to two possible discount coins. Inventory impulses can have been programmed by the factory onto the 2 nd price signal line. SP. Using the tester you can check whether the price signal lines transmit output and inventory impulses: Please ensure that toggle switch SP. is in the lower switch position. Insert as many coins into the coin validator until the game price set has been reached or exceeded. The inserted credit is totalled and displayed by the tester. If the credit reaches the price and if at least one output impulse is transmitted by the price signal line, pilot lamp 1 must flash according to the impulse number. Pilot lamp 2 flashes if inventory impulses have been programmed on the 2 nd signal line. The number of inventory impulses transmitted depends on the value of the inserted coin type. The pilot lamp flashes according to this number. Check coin return To check whether inserted coins are directed into the return area and not into the cash-box when the return lever is activated, simply operate the return lever on the totalizer. Pilot lamp RÜ. should light up. The coins inserted are directed into the return area. 13

GLOSSARY Glossary Blocking signal line Coin properties Coin type Discount coin Inventory impulses Price signal line Reset signal line Return line Blocking signal line between the totalizer and the tester (vending machine), which is used to block coin acceptance. The blocking signal line can also take over the function of the reset signal line. Coin properties which are measured by the totalizer when a coin is inserted. These are material, thickness, volume, minting, diameter etc. One coin type includes all coins for which the coin properties agree. The TV totalizer can grant the customer a discount using two programmable coin types. To do this, the coin type is allocated an impulse number which is higher than that allocated to its value. If the coin amount is to be totalled for every coin inserted until the cash-box is emptied, so-called inventory impulses can be programmed on the 2 nd price signal line of the timer and TV totalizer. If the inventory function has been activated, the timer/tv totalizer transmits a certain number of inventory impulses which are totalled for every coin inserted of a certain coin type. The totalizer transmits a signal to the tester (vending machine) via the price signal line if a set selling price is reached or exceeded. This causes the vending machine to perform a certain function or deliver the merchandise. A reset signal is transmitted from the tester (vending machine) to the 2 price totalizer via the reset signal line. The totalizer interprets this as the vending operation having been completed and the credit is deleted. The function of the reset signal line can also be taken over by the blocking signal line. When the return lever on the totalizer is operated, a return signal is transmitted to the tester (vending machine) via the return line. 16
GLOSSARY Start price Time unit The price which must be achieved on the timer by inserting coins so that a specific function is triggered. For this the start price must be divisible by the programmable price for one time unit. A specific function which lasts for at least one time unit (programmable) can be bought at the timer for a programmable price. The entire duration is made up of a number of time units. 17
