1 Folded Christmas Star Materials needed: Colored or white paper X-acto knife and cutting mat or scissors Ruler Patience and practice :) Instructions Follow the numbered instructions that correspond to an illustration below: 1. Cut four strips of paper measuring 1.25 by 35 cm (½ by 14 inches). Fold in half. The strips have different colors in the instructions to make it easier to tell them apart. The size of the strips can be scaled up or down as you like, but this size is a good size to start with. 2. Insert strip 1 between strip Place strip 3 over strip Place strip 4 over strip 3 and insert into strip 1 as shown. 5. Tighten the resulting weave gently. 6. Fold back one side of strip 4 and fold one side of strip 3 over strip 4 7. and continue in this manner by folding one side of strip 2 over strip 3 and folding one side of strip 1 back over strip 2, completing by inserting it under strip Tighten the resulting weave gently. 9. Turn to lie as shown in the image and fold strip 1 as shown. 10. The fold should be neat and sharp, you can use the tip of your finger to press the fold. Fold side B on top of A. 11. Insert the strip under 4. It can be a bit tricky to get the strip inserted, so you can use tweezers to pull the strip from the other side if the strip won t be pushed through. Repeat for the remaining three strips on this side of the star. 12. Flip the star over to the other side. 13. And continue folding the tips of the star on the other side using the same steps described in step Place the star as shown. Both sides are alike. The remaining strips of paper will be named a,b,c,d to make it easier to tell them apart. 15. Lift strip a, twist strip b as shown and insert under a. The strip will exit in the middle of a tip of the star. Gently pull tight enough until the strip forms a perfect tip on top of the star. 16. Turn 90 degrees and repeat for the next strip, continuing until all four tips on top of this side of the star have been formed. Flip over the star and repeat with the other four strips on the other side of the star. Trim the strips of paper still protruding from the tips of the star. And Voilà, the star is complete.

3 Small Heart Ornaments Materials needed: Printer Colored or white card stock X-acto knife and cutting mat Ruler Paper glue Patience and practice :) Instructions 1. Print the template on a A4 sized piece of card stock. 2. Start by cutting out the pattern on the inside of the ornament. Then cut out the circumference of the ornament.

4 3. Using a ruler and the X-acto knife very gently score along the fold line of the adhesive edges (see illustration). This will make it easier to gently fold the edges. 4. Apply paper glue to the adhesive edges and glue ornament together. 5. Use a sewing thread and needle to attach a string for hanging the ornament. Aternately cut a thin strip of card stock 0.5 cm wide and 15 cm (0.2 by 6 inches) long and attach to ornament with glue. 7 Big Heart Ornament Materials needed: Printer Colored or white card stock X-acto knife and cutting mat Ruler Paper glue Patience and practice :) Instructions 1. Print the template on a A4 sized piece of card stock. 2. Start by cutting out the pattern on the inside of the ornament. Then cut out the circumference of the ornament. 3. Using a ruler and the X-acto knife very gently score along the diagonal fold lines a (see illustration) on the same side of the paper the template was printed on. Flip the paper over and score along the fold lines b and c. This will make it easier to gently fold the edges.

8 4. With the printed side in, fold the two hearts together, with fold lines a folding inward and fold lines b and c folding outward to form an accordion fold. Press well. 5. Cut a thin strip of card stock 0.9 cm wide and 15 cm (0.35 by 6 inches) long, bend and attach each end to ornament top with glue. 11 Woven Danish Christmas Heart Ornament Materials needed: Printer Colored Paper Scissors Pencil for tracing Paper glue Patience and practice :) Instructions 1. Print and cut out the templates 2. Select two pieces of colored paper and fold them in the middle 3. Place the first template (with ABC) on one piece of colored paper, the other template (with 1,2, 3) on the other piece of paper. Trace and cut out the template. 4. Follow the instructions in the following illustrations for folding the heart. If folded correctly the heart will be identical on both sides, opening to form a small basket.

12 5. Cut a thin strip of paper 1 cm by 15 cm long, fold and glue each end on the top of the back of each side of the heart to form a handle. Handy Tips: You can experiment with making the heart bigger or smaller, using different colors, making more sections or varying the thickness of the sections (some thinner, some thicker).
