(2005) Clorofilla dal cielo blu [Chlorophyll from the Blue Sky] This book tells about Chlorophyll s tales, a baby plant coming from a vegetable planet together with her parents. She is risking to die because of the air pollution. As a consequence, Chlorophyll is committed to the most famous Earth botanist, the professor Erasmus, which is part of the Enemies League of kids, dogs, cats and similar. 2 kids (maybe his grandchildren) Michele and Francesca arrive at Erasmus home. The kids, along with Cesira - the doorman - and her daughter Lorenza, take care of Chlorophyll and help the professor to finding out an antidote. By looking for a cure Erasmus create the Verdeplasma, a miraculous serum which strengthen the plant and help Chlorophyll to resist until her parents return. An intriguing journalist reveals to the world the existence of the little creature from outer space so it begins an alien hunt to take possession of her. Erasmus, Cesira and the kids barricade themselves in the house along with Chlorophyll

2 Milano: Mondadori but Francesca enhance by mistake the Verdeplasma effects, while Michele finds out and spreads in the wind a tropical seeds bag brought to Erasmus by the mother, a big traveller. During the night, due to the powerful serum, the seeds wake up, grow and transform the city in a jungle imprisoning the hunters in Erasmus house. Until the aliens arrive to get back their daughter, evils convert in friends of the kids, dogs and cats and Erasmus fall in love with the doorman Cesira getting married her as a result. Furthermore Erasmus begin to produce Verdeplasma in the whole world being considered an humanity benefactor. ISBN: Pages: Spock, J. The interest and enjoyment of students acting the story is a test about their implication.

Teacher reads some slices of the book, it s a sort of summary of the story. 2. Discussion: students find science fiction s characteristics in the story. 3. Make assumptions: what would happen if ultra- mosquitoes come to your classroom? 4. Create your own mosquitoes using plasticine and write about its character 1. Interest and rework of students can test their attention and comprehension of the story

9 LESSON 4. Comics Invent a comic about ultra- mosquitoes 1. Use Comic language and rules 2. Rework the story into another one 3. Reflect on own difficulties 1. Discussion: which kind of ultra-mosquitoes do you want to know? 2. Students reflect about their learning difficulties, they imagine where they would like to be helped 3. In couples: create a comic where students find al ultra- mosquitoes that make them nerd. 4. Comics are scanned and shared on a class blog 1. Students share their comics with friend: they would be proud of their work. 2. Creation of a comic shows their mastership of this kind of literature

10 Lesson Plans for the Subject of Science and Environmental education LESSON 1 - Knowing a plant Learn plant structure 1. Observe and reflect about nature (leaf and plants) 2. Study collected objects. 3. Encourage the ability to explore 1. Students collect different kind of leafs (they could do for a walk together) 2. Teacher help them to create boards with all the collected leaf 3. They write together related descriptions. 4. They draw them on their exercise book. 5. Each student desk will have got a plant. They ll be responsible of it.

Publish it on school journal and enclose some photographs of classroom s garden. LESSON 3- Plant oxygen production Experiment photosynthesis 1. Learn the photosynthesis and plant oxygen production

Reproduce it by an experiment in school laboratory: get an aquatic plant and place it in a glass jar. 3. Fill the jar about three-fourths of its volume with water. 4. At this point upholster the plant with a glass funnel upside down and take care that it too is filled with water. 5. Ask a tube end of the funnel so that the funnel closes. Expose the pot with the seedling in a very bright place. 6. Students will notice that some bubbles will escape in the tube. 7. Once the tube is full of gas of these bubbles, can verify that it is oxygen. With great foresight takes off the tube and hold it closed with your finger. 8. Insert a lit match into the tube: you will notice that the flame of the match went revive fueled by the oxygen in the tube. 1. Write a report of this experience on exercise-book 2. Make a trailer about this experiment
