4 Come mine our Asteroids on Atlas Space Station Atlas is a space station where you can earn great money in a variety of mining jobs. The pay starts at $75,000 and can go to $240,000 each month. Read on to find out more.

5 Materials Required for Mining There are many ways by which the essential elements can be extracted from Asteroids such as strip mining, shaft mining, heating and also magnetic rakes are used for the extraction of heavy metals. Surface mining On some types of asteroids, material may be scraped off the surface using a scoop or for larger pieces, an active grab. There is strong evidence that many asteroids consist of rubble piles, making this approach possible. Underground hard rock mining There are also various underground mining techniques used to excavate hard minerals. In the asteroid there may be gold, silver, iron, copper, zinc, nickel, tin or lead. Hard rock mining uses the same techniques for excavating ores of gems such as diamonds. In contrast soft rock mining refers to excavation of softer minerals such as salt, coal, or oil sands.
