1 Attention: Please Read This Before Playing Fantasy Football Some teachers have reported that students have difficulty working with the default scoring system. If so, I suggest using scoring system number 10 on page 16 of the teacher resource guide. It is based on a common denominator of 24, rather than 48, which makes it easier to work with for some students. Please read the last three pages of the teacher's resource guide (pages ). The pages were inadvertently omitted from the table of contents, and many of the questions I receive can be answered by reading these pages. In terms of assessment, I would not worry about checking student work when they are computing points for their teams. You'll drive yourself crazy if you try to do this. Rather, simply give them a weekly quiz based on your team. This is covered on page The easy-to-read stats sheet will not be available this year, because the cost is prohibitive to pay for the data feed as well as the programmer to put it all together. The programmer who has been doing it for me the last couple of years is no longer available, and I have lost money every year paying for this service. In the past I have considered this a donation to education, but I can no longer do this. There are a number of sports websites that can provide the football stats, including this website. Please be aware that defenses do not earn points from interceptions or fumbles. Finally, in any given NFL season there can be an excessive number of injuries to key players. These injuries (combined with bye weeks) may result in some students not being able to field a complete starting lineup in any particular week. If all went well with your students last year, then you can stay with the original $40 million salary cap and number of players selected that are in the book. However, if you want to eliminate this potential scenario, you can give students more money to draft more players. In other words, the new salary cap could be $55 million (instead of $40 million) and students could draft 18 players (instead of 13).
