1 PROFESSOR: EQUIPE DE INGLÊS BANCO DE QUESTÕES - INGLÊS - 7º ANO - ENSINO FUNDAMENTAL ============================================================================================= Text 1 DOES THE NEWS SOMETIMES MAKE YOU UNHAPPY? DO YOU WANT TO HELP PEOPLE IN OTHER COUNTRIES BUT NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO? In 1985 a musician, Bob Geldof, watched the news about a famine in Africa and decided to do something: he organised the biggest rock concert in the world, LIVE AID, and it made Now, there are often fund-raising concerts when there is a disaster. These charity concerts are not a new idea. In 1791, musicians in Prague performed in a concert to help Mozart s family! Nowadays, the concerts are huge and sometimes in more than one country. For example, Hope for Haiti in 2010 was in the United States, the UK and Haiti. The stars included Madonna and Jay-Z. People all over the world watched the concert on TV and the Internet. The concert made millions of dollars to help the victims of the earthquake. How do the concerts make money? Well, the singers and musicians perform for nothing, and the ticket money goes to the charity. You don t have to go to the concert to give money. Some people invite their friends to get together to watch the concert on TV and everyone gives some money. You can phone up and donate money. Who wants to perform free at these concerts? Everyone! All the big names want to get up on the stage. They help the charity and it helps their career. What happens to the money? Charities use it to buy food, water and medicine. They also help people to build homes, hospitals and schools. 01- Choose the best title for the text: (A) The Best Concert in the World (B) Music to Help the World (C) The World s Biggest Band Página 1 de 10-27/10/2017-3:13 PM

Text 2 THE SCIENCE OF THE TINY 1 You go to the doctor to treat an infection. He injects a tiny submarine into your vein that will pass through your body destroying bacteria. A science fiction film? No, a real possibility with the help of nanotechnology. But what is nanotechnology? It is the technology that allows people to make tools and robots that are a billion times smaller than we can see. 2 Nanotechnology is already all around us. Some MP4 players are based on nanotech. But what will the future bring? Most experts agree that nanotechnology and robotics will bring really big changes in the near future and that nanotechnology will make life easier. There might be changes in housework, for example. There will be microscopic computerized robots called nanobots doing the work for you. There won t be any driver s licenses or identity cards because all that information will be in microchips implanted in your arm. 3 However, not all scientists are optimistic about this new technology. Some environmentalists say that there may be toxic effects of nanomaterials on humans and on the environment. Nanotechnology might be used in wars too. There might be nano weapons in the future. 4 Those in favor of nanotechnology don t think it will have a negative impact on our lives. Some researchers say it will help preserve our planet by creating new ways of cleaning our water or recycling our waste. Medical diagnostics will be more precise and there will be new powerful drugs. Will our lives be better? Will technology lend a helping hand to the world? The only thing we know for sure is that we can t predict the future nor the effects of this new kind of technology.
