1 Table of Contents 1.0 Introduction Accountability Hazards Internal to this Rack External Hazards Due to Sources in this Rack Battery Charger 120 VAC Verification VDC Power Verification VAC Power Verification Records and Reports Revision History Introduction 1.1 Purpose This procedure will verify correct wiring of 24 VDC and 120 VAC power for racks B and B After performing this procedure the power for these racks will be available for use. Copies of the executed procedure are to be filed with the group leader having responsibility for the rack contents, the area manager, and the project leader responsible for the rack installation. The original executed procedure is to be kept on file by the Documentation Manager. 1.2 Scope This procedure is limited to the power supplied to Racks B and B in the LCLS Near Experimental Hall. This procedure applies to all staff required to carry out this function. In normal circumstances the equipment should be powered up by staff assigned to the Controls Department. 2.0 Accountability The Safety Systems Section is responsible for executing this procedure. The System Engineer is responsible for notifying the LCLS Installation Manager of this procedure and obtaining approval for its use. 3 5.0 Battery Charger 120 VAC Verification Perform the following: 5.1 Turn OFF Electrical Panel 2DBP10-950, CB Turn OFF AC Input Breaker on the Battery Charger behind B Open the Battery Charger front panel and verify 0 VAC on TB1, between pins L1 and L Verify the resistance between TB1, pins L1 and L2 is open. 5.5 Turn ON Electrical Panel 2DBP10-950, CB Verify 120 VAC on Battery Charger TB1, between pins L1 and L Close the Battery Charger front panel. 5.8 Turn ON Battery Charger AC Input Breaker. 5.9 Verify the Battery Charger AC On LED is lit Verify the DC Volts Meter indicates approximately 24 VDC and the DC Amperes Meter indicates a charging current. 4 6.0 VDC Power Verification Perform the following: 6.1 Turn OFF the circuit breaker in the back of rack B950-02, elevation 43, in the box on the left side. 6.2 Turn OFF X1, X2, X3, and X4 on the DC Distribution Chassis in rack B950-02, elevation Remove the cables from J1 through J8 on the back of the DC Distribution Chassis. 6.4 Verify the resistance between all pairs of pins in J1 is 6.5 Verify the resistance between all pairs of pins in J2 is 6.6 Verify the resistance between all pairs of pins in J3 is 6.7 Verify the resistance between all pairs of pins in J4 is 6.8 Verify the resistance between all pairs of pins in J5 is 6.9 Verify the resistance between all pairs of pins in J6 is 6.10 Verify the resistance between all pairs of pins in J7 is 6.11 Verify the resistance between all pairs of pins in J8 is Initial to Verify SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory Page 4 of 12

6 6.24 Verify the voltage between J4 Pin A and J8 Pin A is 6.25 Turn ON X1, X2, X3, and X4 on the DC Distribution Chassis in rack B950-02, elevation Verify the voltage between J1 Pin A and J5 Pin A is 24 VDC Verify the voltage between J2 Pin A and J6 Pin A is 24 VDC Verify the voltage between J3 Pin A and J7 Pin A is 24 VDC Verify the voltage between J4 Pin A and J8 Pin A is 24 VDC Turn OFF the circuit breaker in the back of rack B950-02, elevation 43, in the box on the left side Verify the voltage between J1 Pin A and J5 Pin A is 6.32 Verify the voltage between J2 Pin A and J6 Pin A is 6.33 Verify the voltage between J3 Pin A and J7 Pin A is 6.34 Verify the voltage between J4 Pin A and J8 Pin A is Initial to Verify SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory Page 6 of 12

8 7.0 VAC Power Verification Perform the following: 7.1 Turn OFF CB 12 in 2DBP Verify nothing is plugged into the 4 AC outlets in the back of rack B950-02, at elevations 10 and Verify the voltage in the AC outlets in the back of B950-02, elevations 10 and 29 is 0 VAC. 7.4 Verify the resistance between pairs of AC outlet pins in the back of B950-02, elevation 10 is open. 7.5 Verify the resistance between pairs of AC outlet pins in the back of B950-02, elevation 29 is open. 7.6 Turn ON CB 12 in 2DBP Verify the voltage in the AC outlets in the back of B950-02, elevation 10 is 120 VAC. 7.8 Verify the voltage in the AC outlets in the back of B950-02, elevation 10 is the correct polarity. 7.9 Verify the voltage in the AC outlets in the back of B950-02, elevation 29 is 120 VAC Verify the voltage in the AC outlets in the back of B950-02, elevation 29 is the correct polarity Turn OFF CB 12 in 2DBP Initial Items Tested SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory Page 8 of 12
