4 Page 4 of 54. Introduction Test of a noise analysis software tool, noiselab, has been performed according to IEC 667-, 3 Electroacoustics Sound level meters Part : Pattern evaluation tests and IEC 66, 995 Octave-band and fractional-octave-band filters NoiseLAB version. was tested on PC with Windows XP professional, and a PCI card type 4474 form National Instruments. The sampling frequency was 44. khz. The resolution of the digital sampling is 4 bit. The maximum input signal is ± V peak and the dynamic range is specified to db. Therefore the tests have been performed with an indicator range from 4 db peak (37 db RMS for sine signal) to 4 db RMS re. µv. All tests were performed in channel as the system has identical functionality in all channels. The system was calibrated to an indication of 94 db with a input signal of khz, 5 mv ~ 94 db re µv. All results in the report are given in db re µv.. Test equipment and measuring uncertainty All tests have been performed with a Stanford Research Systems signal generator type DS 36. The accuracy of the level of the test signals is specified and verified to be better than ±. db in the range 43 3 db re µv. The accuracy of frequency and time is specified and verified to be better than ±5 ppm (,5%). The expanded measuring uncertainty (95% confidence level) is therefore expected to be ±. db for all test signals.

Frequency weighting The frequency weighting A, C and Z (linear) have been verified from Hz to khz in third octave frequency steps. The test results are also given in appendix as numerical values. In figure 3 are the deviation from nominal attenuation of the filters given. The test results are also given in appendix as numerical values. 5 Deviation db , , k.5k.6k.k.5k 3.5k 4.k 5.k 6.3k 8.k.k.5k 6.k.k Frequency Hz Figure A weighting, deviation from nominal attenuation

10 Page of Time weighting F The time weighting F has been tested with 4 khz sine burst signals. The burst duration was between from.5 ms (one periode) and ms (4 periods). This gives for time weighting F nominal indication from db -7 db relative to the constant level. The test was performed with constant level of 34, 4, 94, 74 and 54 db respectively. Nominal indications within the range 4 34 db have been tested. The results are given in figure 7 as deviation from nominal indication. The results are also given in appendix as numerical values. 13 Page 3 of Sound exposure level LZE and time average sound level LZeq Measurement of Sound exposure level L ZE and time average sound level L Zeq have been tested with 4 khz toneburst signals (single bursts) with duration between.5 ms and s. The test was performed with signal levels of the burst at 34 db, 4 db, 94 db and 74 db for burst durations with nominal indication of L ZE above 5 db. The test was performed with a measuring time for L ZE and L eq of s which gives L eq values tha nominal is db lower than the L ZE. Due to the constant difference of db between L ZE and L Zeq values only results of the L ZE measurements is presented in this report. The results are given in figure 5 as deviation of L ZE indication from nominal indication. The results are also given in appendix as numerical values. The duration of the bursts were between.5 ms and s. The time between the bursts was s. The measuring time was 6 s. The test was performed with a level of the burst at 34 db and 86 db which gives nominal indications between 4 db and 4 db. The results are given in figure 6 7 as deviation from nominal indication. The results are also given in appendix as numerical values.

17 Page 7 of Overload indication Overload indication have been tested with positive and negative one-half-cycle sinus signal at frequencies 3.5 Hz, khz, and 4 khz. From db below the upper limit of the linear operating range the level is increased in. db until indication of overload. The level of first overload indication and the level of overload on all bursts were registered. The peak level of the input signal (db re µv) is given in table. Positive burst Negative burst Frequency [Hz] First indication Indication on all burst First indication Indication on all burst Table Peak level when overload is indicated At 3.5 Hz the overload indication is not symmetrical for positive and negative going one half cycle signals. EN 667- specify that the difference between the positive and negative input levels that first cause an overload shall not exceed.8 db. The tolerance is not fulfilled for indication of overload on all burst at 3.5 Hz. 4. Tests according to EN 66 The octave and third octave analysis features of noiselab are implemented as digital filters where all filter rutines with the same bandwidth are identical except from numerical constants. Therefore only three octave band filters and four third octave band filters was tested. The filters with highest center frequencies were tested to verify that the sampling frequency does not influence the filter attenuation inexpedient. Results are presented as graphs with the following signatures: Attenuation of filter Attenuation ± expanded measurement uncertainty s according to EN 66, class.
18 Page 8 of 54 Results for octave band filters 3.5 Hz, khz and 8 khz are given in figure 8. Results are also given in appendix as numerical values. Results for third octave band filters 3.5 Hz, khz,.5 khz and 6 khz are given if figure 4. Results are also given in appendix as numerical values. On the figures the attenuation in the pass band is shown with higher resolution to give a better visual presentation of the attenuation and tolerances. 4.
