Interface ox 09H EN For use with Informer Meter Package and PrecisionView MR.0 software Informer stations require the proper installation of interface hardware before connecting to a computer running PrecisionView MR.0 software. There are two different Informerspecific interface boxes available. The type of interface box required depends on what other station types (devices) are installed on the same communication network. Each of the interface boxes was designed for a specific combination of these variables. See the table of Interface oxes below. WRNING Improper wiring can cause a hazardous condition, which can result in fire, explosion, or electric shock. qualified electrician must complete all grounding and wiring connections. Turn off the power to the device(s) before starting installation. This manual covers the electrical connections required for each of the four interface boxes. Refer to FIG. for general power and communication wiring connections between the interface box and Informer stations. See pages 7, for specific wiring information for the type of interface box you are installing. See the PrecisionView MR.0 Installation Guide (Graco manual 998), Section and, for additional network configuration and installation instructions. Interface box 77 includes a network terminating resistor. This resister is in the form of a plug that inserts into the top of the terminals on which the incoming communication wires are landed. Refer to the PrecisionView MR.0 Installation Guide, Section, to determine whether the terminating resistor should be plugged in or left out. Communication and or VDC power cables leave the interface box on the lower right side. Two strain relief connectors are provided for this purpose. Outgoing communication conductors are landed on the terminals marked and, with power conductors landed on positive () and negative () terminals. The shield conductors can be landed on the negative () terminals. Overview You can use two elden 98 cables for separate power and communication or one lpha 58 cable, which consists of two individually shielded, twisted pairs of WG wire. In both elden and lpha cable configurations, one cable wire pair is used for the external or VDC power. The other cable wire pair is for serial communication to the remote computer. ground/shield wire is also required. Each interface box has an IEC0 universal receptacle for incoming 0/0 VC power on the top left side. Each box comes from the factory with two prewired cord sets, 998 for North merican applications and 598 for European applications. Communication cabling enters the box through a strain relief connector located toward the top center of the box. Directly below the strain relief are twotiered terminals on which these conductors are then landed. The upper tier is for the communication conductors; the lower tier is for internal or VDC wiring. The incoming shield conductor is landed on the ground terminal. 09

4 Installation Display Jumpers and Terminals Interface ox 775 and 77 require that you install a kilohm resistor from J terminal to J terminal on each Informer installed. See FIG.. 8 Graco Standard Warranty Graco warrants all equipment referenced in this document which is manufactured by Graco and bearing its name to be free from defects in material and workmanship on the date of sale to the original purchaser for use. With the exception of any special, extended, or limited warranty published by Graco, Graco will, for a period of twelve months from the date of sale, repair or replace any part of the equipment determined by Graco to be defective. This warranty applies only when the equipment is installed, operated and maintained in accordance with Graco s written recommendations. This warranty does not cover, and Graco shall not be liable for general wear and tear, or any malfunction, damage or wear caused by faulty installation, misapplication, abrasion, corrosion, inadequate or improper maintenance, negligence, accident, tampering, or substitution of nongraco component parts. Nor shall Graco be liable for malfunction, damage or wear caused by the incompatibility of Graco equipment with structures, accessories, equipment or materials not supplied by Graco, or the improper design, manufacture, installation, operation or maintenance of structures, accessories, equipment or materials not supplied by Graco. This warranty is conditioned upon the prepaid return of the equipment claimed to be defective to an authorized Graco distributor for verification of the claimed defect. If the claimed defect is verified, Graco will repair or replace free of charge any defective parts. The equipment will be returned to the original purchaser transportation prepaid. If inspection of the equipment does not disclose any defect in material or workmanship, repairs will be made at a reasonable charge, which charges may include the costs of parts, labor, and transportation.
