1 Cobolt Optogenetics Laser Solutions Cobolt offers a range of reliable and configurable solutions for optogenetics, featuring lasers operating at 473 nm for channelrhodopsin activation and 594 nm for halorhodopsin inhibition. Lasers can be purchased individually or in assemblies of one or two lasers with pre-aligned, connectorized fiber couplers. We also have carefully engineered modulation options that deliver high fidelty, high speed pulses with excellent pulse-topulse stability and high on/off extinction ratio. A variety of other standard wavelengths are also available. See our website for more information. Each configuration starts with a highly reliable and very stable Cobolt laser. The MLD Series lasers are compact laser diode modules that can be directly modulated and feature precision electronics. The MLD Series is the preferred 473nm laser for optogenetics. The Series of diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers enables laser excitation at wavelengths unattainable with laser diodes, in particular 594nm and 561nm. These lasers are designed for continuous wave output and do not typically permit high speed, high fidelity modulation. To achieve precision modulation, Cobolt offers the Series lasers with integrated acousto-optic modulator (AOM) in the same package with a DPSS laser. Configurations shown below include single lasers or two lasers combined into a single fiber, lasers with or without intensity modulation capability and stand-alone lasers or assemblies with easily adjustable fiber couplers. To each fiber-coupled system, a MM fiber (with 50μm-200μm core diameter) of your choice can be easily attached. All packages offer full control over the pulse generation, perfect pulse-to-pulse stability, high extinction ratio and fiber coupling efficiencies of >80%.
