2 Congratulations for choosing the Advanced Radio Power Bus. Power Bus is designed with modern radio and battery usage in mind. The Power Bus range are ideal for giant scale RC and Robotics enthusiasts and offers new technology not seen before in Radio Control applications. Before you install Power Bus 1232 please take the time to read these instructions. A few simple steps will have you successfully using this product in no time at all. Power Bus Features: - 12 Input Channels - Power Bus will receive up to 12 input channels and is compatible with all modern digital radios Output Channels - 12 input channels are split into 32 output channels with filtering and capability to drive long cable lengths. - Auto Frame Rate Tracking- All 32 outputs will follow the exact frame rate supplied by your selected receiver. Propagation delay of only 10ns - Compatible with all battery chemistries - Power Bus will work with LiFe, Lion, Lipo, NiCad and NiMh battery chemistries and automatically provides full battery voltage to each of the 32 output channels. - Compatible with low or high voltage servos - Power Bus can be used with low (Life, Nicad, Nimh) voltage or high (Lion, Lipo) voltage servos. - Built in 5v Receiver Regulator - Power Bus supplies a constant 5 volts to the receiver independant to the output power bus. - Dual IBMS Battery Redundancy with LED Indication - Power Bus uses new advanced perfect diode technology to balance the power taken from each battery. If a battery fails the other battery takes over supplying the load. - LED Battery Usage Indication - Power Bus provides 2 x bright Blue LEDs to give clear indication of which battery(s) are providing power. - LED Input Bus Power Indication - Shows that 5V regulated power is being supplied to the receiver. - Weight 72 grams. DO S and DON TS Your Advanced Radio Power Bus 1232 comes with 2 completely independent solid state digital circuits and is designed to isolate 2 batteries of the same chemistry and capacity for receiver and servo switching. A matched pair of batteries will give best performance. Intelligent Battery Management System (IBMS) Your Advanced Radio Power Bus comes to you with the latest in battery IBMS technology. IBMS employs the perfect diode method for battery management and monitoring. Each battery is monitored and the battery with heighest voltage and power capabilities will automatically supply the System load. This condition will remain until battery voltages match. Once the batteries are matched in voltage, Power Bus will draw from each battery based on the capabilities of each battery to supply current. Should either battery fail then Power Bus IBMS will switch the failed battery out of circuit. It is highly recommended that you use Power Bus with batteries of the same voltage and battery chemistry. Mixing of different battery voltages or chemistry types when using Power Bus will cause the battery with the highest voltage to be consumed until it matches the voltage of the battery with the lowest. This may be desirable if you are experienced with modeling or Robotics, however you do this at your own risk. - Dimensions 90mm x 64mm (3.5 x 2.5 inches). 2 3

Battery 1 Power Bus Circuit 1 IBMS Battery 2 Power Bus Circuit 2 Lets get started Power Bus has been designed so you have two options for receiver mounting. 1) The receiver can be mounted on the top panel of the Power Bus. A small high strength adhesive patch is supplied with Power Bus for this purpose. 2) The receiver can be mounted in a good RF position inside your model and standard servo wires can be used to connect the receiver to Power Bus. Please note; the voltage on the Power Bus Output channels will match the voltage supplied by the battery or regulator used in your setup. 5 Power Bus 1232 Intelligent Battery Management System LED indication that the 5volt regulator is supplying power to the 12 receiver input terminals. The Power Bus Intelligent Battery Management System (IBMS) constantly monitors each battery. If the two batteries output voltages differ by more than 20millivolts then the IBMS will take power from the highest voltage source. This condition remains until both batteries are equal and then power is drawn equally from each battery. Your Power Bus features Blue LED indication to tell which battery is supplying the load. In the immediate example below the right side battery is supplying power. In this example (below) both batteries are supplying power. If the dual LEDs are glowing then both batteries are supplying power to the output bus. 8 9

6 Turning Power Bus ON and OFF Your Power Bus 1232 is supplied ready to use with the optional Advanced Radio Pin flag and external LED package. We recommend our pin flag switch/external LED package for modelers requiring a clean scale look to their model. Power Bus will work effectively with the Advanced Radio Intelliswitch, Dual Wallaby Switch, Pin Flag combination or 2 x mechanical switches. FACTS Using Power Bus with a Regulator? The trend today is to move to using higher voltage servos. In most cases a regulator is not necessary unless you have servos requiring lower voltages or believe you are good enough to feel the difference in servo control with small voltage drop. Power Bus 1232 will work excellently with a regulated power supply. Please note a single regulator supplying both inputs to Power Bus should light both IBMS LEDs. If you are using dual regulators then it is important to note that the output of the regulators should be well matched. If Power Bus senses 20mV difference between the regulators it will only draw from the regulator with the higher voltage. Suggested Regulators Power Bus has been optimized to work with Advanced Radio or Booma RC Intelli-Reg, Regulator-Pro or Helli-Reg Pro. These regulators have been designed to deliver professional results for the most discerning hi-end user. Power Bus may also be used with all other types of regulators capable of supplying the required voltage and current for your model. Optional Pin Flag and external LED package
