2 WR-G313e High Performance Software-Defined HF Receiver 9 khz-30 MHz frequency range (optionally extendable to 180 MHz) Software-defined DSP demodulation Excellent sensitivity High dynamic range Continuously adjustable IF bandwidth Excellent suppression of internal spurii Real-time spectrum analyzer Graphical IF shift and notch filter Noise blanker Audio and IF recording and playback Test and measurement facilities The WiNRADiO WR-G313e receiver is a USB-controlled, software-defined high-performance HF receiver (9 khz to 30 MHz, optionally extendable to 180 MHz). This receiver is intended for government, military, security, industrial, surveillance, broadcast monitoring, and demanding consumer applications. Several WR-G313e receivers can be controlled by a single PC, which provides an ideal solution for high-performance multi-channel surveillance and monitoring systems. As the last IF and demodulation processing are entirely software-defined, additional demodulation or decoding modes can be easily added by a mere software change. In addition to audio recording, the receiver can also record a 20 khz wide spectrum at the IF level, making it possible to thoroughly analyse a signal, and experiment with extracting a weak signal with different filter settings for the best reception. The receiver is lightweight and portable, an ideal accessory for laptop and notebook computers. Every modern portable computer can be quickly and easily converted into a powerful HF monitoring station with minimum fuss. The receiver is extremely sensitive, making it possible to comfortably read CW signals well under -130 dbm input levels, yet featuring a respectable 95 db dynamic range making the receiver resistant to strong signal overload. The high sensitivity is also matched by that of the S-meter: The calibrated S-meter shows the received signal levels in dbm, µv or S-units, down to the receiver noise floor. The IF bandwidth of the receiver is continuously adjustable from 1 Hz to 15 khz, in 1 Hz steps. WiNRADiO

3 Hardware The construction of the WiNRADiO WR-G313e receiver is truly ground breaking and innovative: The remarkably compact receiver connects to the computer via standard USB interface which facilitates the receiver control as well as transfer of the demodulated audio. The enclosure is very well shielded against interference, making it possible for the receiver to operate in a noisy computer environment. G313e Options The G313/180 Frequency Extension Option extends the frequency coverage from the standard 9kHz-30MHz to 9kHz-180MHz. This makes it possible to use this receiver for narrow-band communications in the low VHF range. The receiver's variable IF bandwith makes this receiver particularly suitable for surveillance and monitoring of civilian and military aircraft and marine communications. Other hardware options may be customized to specific customer requirements, including external frequency reference, IF outputs, etc. In addition to hardware options, there are many software options available for this receiver, such as the DRM demodulation option, Client/Server option, and others. Please visit our Web site for the latest news on the available options. Specifications The receiver is supplied with an external AC/DC power adapter, working in linear mode to avoid even the slightest possibility of interference emanating from the power supply. Software The WR-G313e software contains numerous advanced features, many tuning and scanning options, virtually unlimited memories and a rich on-line help facility. 4 WR-G313i High Performance HF Receiver 9 khz-30 MHz frequency range (optionally extendable to 180 MHz) Software-defined DSP demodulation Excellent sensitivity High dynamic range Continuously adjustable IF bandwidth Excellent suppression of internal spurii Real-time spetrum analyzer Graphical IF shift and notch filter Noise blanker Audio and IF recording and playback Test and measurement facilities The WiNRADiO WR-G313i receiver is a software-defined high-performance HF receiver (9 khz to 30 MHz, optionally extendable to 180 MHz) on a PCI card. The front-end is a DDS-based double-conversion superhet, the last IF stage is implemented in software resident in the on-board DSP. The high sensitivity is also matched by that of the S-meter: The calibrated S-meter shows the received signal levels in dbm, µv or S-units, down to the recever noise floor. The IF bandwidth of the receiver is continuously adjustable from 1 Hz to 15 khz, in 1 Hz steps. This receiver is intended for government, military, security, industrial, surveillance, broadcast monitoring, and demanding consumer applications. Several WR-G313i receivers can reside in a single PC (as many as there are free PCI slots), which provides an ideal solution for high-performance multi-channel surveillance and monitoring systems. As the last IF and demodulation processing are entirely software-defined, this means that additional demodulation or decoding modes can be easily added by a mere software change. Apart from the antenna and audio leads, there are no other interface or power supplies cables - no clutter on your desk. Every modern desktop computer can be converted into a powerful HF monitoring station with minimum fuss. The receiver is extremely sensitive, making it possible to comfortably read CW signals well under -130 dbm input levels, yet featuring a respectable 95 db dynamic range making the receiver resistant to strong signal overload. 5 Hardware The PCI card plugs into an available slot of an IBM-compatible PC. There is a single SMA antenna connector and an output line audio jack which can be used to connect the receiver output directly to a sound card line-input or an amplified speaker. Reference Oscillator Output Option (G313/RO) The G313/RO option adds an external SMA connector to the receiver board, which can be used to output the internal reference frequency. This is useful for situations when the receiver's own internal oscillator is to be used as a reference for other equipment, or, if an external reference is used, to provide this external reference to other receivers in a daisy-chain arrangement. If the receiver relies on its internal reference oscillator, this option will provide MHz reference output. If an external oscillator is used, then the external oscillator frequency will be provided at this output. Intermediate Frequency Output Option 45 MHz (G313/IF4) The G313/IF4 option adds an external SMA connector to the receiver board, which provides a wide-band IF output of the entire 9kHz-30MHz input band, upconverted to 45 MHz (i.e. 9 khz corresponds to MHz, 30 MHz corresponds to 75 MHz). This makes it possible for the receiver to be used as a front-end tuner for HF monitoring systems requiring the capability of digitizing the entire HF band instantaneously; or a front-end for a spectrum analyzer, taking advantage of the receiver's excellent sensitivity and low noise-floor level. Intermediate Frequency Output Option 10.7 MHz (G313/IF1) Similar to the previous option, the G313/IF1 option provides a wide-band IF output.the difference is that this option involves an additional down-converter which converts the 45 MHz IF down to 10.7 MHz. To order a receiver with an option from above, add the option code(s) to the receiver model number. For example, for a 180MHz receiver with external reference oscillator, the model number will be G313i/180/XR. Options can be mixed together (except the IF options where only one can be selected, i.e. IF1 and IF4 cannot be selected at the same time). The receiver has its own on-board DSP, and does not rely on the PC sound card for its performance. As the DSP performs the final stage IF filtering and all demodulation, this receiver is entirely softwaredefined, which means that additional demodulation or decoding modes can easily be added by a mere software change. Software The WR-G313i software contains numerous advanced features, many tuning and scanning options, virtually unlimited memories and a rich on-line help facility. There are numerous modulation modes, variable IF bandwidth 1 Hz to 15 khz, two spectrum analyzers with 16 Hz resolution, graphically controlled IF shift and notch filter, and noise blanker. There is also provision for an external power supply feed in cases where several of these receiver cards are to be installed in a multi-channel configuration. Software The WR-G35DDCi control software provides a highly functional and logical user interface. There are several spectrum analyzer configurations available, including the 45 MHz full span with 1.5 khz resolution. The scaleable spectrum display can be viewed in either the standard or waterfall mode. The digital down-converter provides 33 selectable output bandwidths ranging from 20 khz to 32 MHz. The receiver's selectivity can be adjusted with 1 Hz resolution. Recording and playback are also provided at the output of the digital down-converter, whereby a 32 MHz wide spectrum chunk, representing the entire HF band, can be recorded for later demodulation and post-processing. DDC bandwidth (processing and recording) Selectivity (demodulation bandwidth) Spectrum analyzers ADC Sensitivity (@ 10 MHz, preamp on, input filter bypass) 20 khz - 32 MHz (selectable in 33 steps) 1 Hz 64 khz (continuously variable in 1 Hz steps) Input spectrum/waterfall, 30 or 45 MHz wide, 1.5 khz resolution bandwidth DDC spectrum/waterfall, max 32 MHz wide, up to Channel spectrum, max 64 khz wide, Demodulated audio, 24 khz wide, 16 bit, 100 MSPS AM SSB CW FM Tuning accuracy C Tuning stability -106 dbm ( db S+N/N, 30% modulation, 6 khz BW -121 dbm ( db S+S/N, 2.1 khz BW -127 dbm ( db S+S/N, 500 Hz BW -117 dbm ( db SINAD, 3 khz deviation, 12 khz BW, Audio filter Hz, De-emphasis -6 db/oct 0.5 ppm (0 to 50 C) The receiver is entirely software-defined, which means that additional demodulations or decoding modes can be easily added by a mere software change. Input filters (operation mode: bypass, manual or automatic) 4 x high-pass filters 4 x low-pass filters Various band-pass filters by combining HPF and LPF In spite of the receiver's ground-breaking architecture, the user interface still remains simple and intuitive to use, with a rich on-line help facility. The control software contains all the features generally expected in modern receivers such as noise blanking, memories, scheduler, squelch (level, voice or noise activated), numerous tuning options, and a wide choice of demodulation modes, including user-defined and optional DRM modes. Antenna input 50 Ω (SMA connector) Interface PCI Express Power supply 10 W max.
