Attch striner in pipe on the inflow side of the product to prevent equipment dmge. Avoid using the product in n tmosphere contining oxidizing gs, explosive gs, etc. since it my dmge the ctutor, vlve, or their components. Do not leve the controlled fluid frozen to prevent equipment dmge or fluid lekge. Do not put hevy lod on the ctutor. Do not instll the product nerby stem coil or hotwter (in high temperture) coil. When being used to control hot wter or stem, it my rech high temperture nd my cuse burn injury. Disconnect power from the product (including the optionl devices) before performing ny wiring or mintennce to prevent equipment dmge. Use crimp terminl lugs with insultion for electric wires to be connected to the screw terminls. Shortcircuit or electricl shock my occur without insultion. Instll the product in the position s specified in this mnul. Excessively tight connection of piping nd improper instlltion position my dmge the vlve. After piping instlltion, mke sure no fl uid leks from the connecting prts. Incorrect piping my cuse fl uid lekge. Do not llow ny foreign substnce inside the piping. Flush the piping so tht no foreign substnce remins. Attch striner in pipe on the infl ow side of the product to prevent equipment dmge. Disconnect power from the product (including the optionl devices) before performing ny wiring or mintennce to prevent equipment dmge. ACTIVAL Model VY198J is the vlve nd ctutor integrted into single unit. Do not combine the vlve with ny other ctutor, or do not combine the ctutor with ny other vlve. To remove foreign substnces inside the pipes, instll striner with 40 or more meshes (with 80 or more meshes recommended for stem control) on the infl ow side of ech vlve. In cse tht the striners cnnot be instlled on the infl ow side of ech vlve, instll it on the pipe diverting sections (sections diverting from min piping system to sub piping system). Instll the vlve so tht the fl ow direction of process fl uid grees with the rrow indicted on the vlve body. Instlltion loction A CAUTION Avoid using the product in n tmosphere contining oxidizing gs, explosive gs, etc. since it my dmge the ctutor, vlve, or their components. Do not instll the product nerby stem coil or hotwter (in high temperture) coil. High het rdition my result in n ctutor mlfunction. IMPORTANT: The top nd the terminl covers might be corroded by chemicls nd orgnic solvent or their vpor. Do not expose the ACTIVAL to such substnces/vpor. When the ACTIVAL is used for stem humidifying, instll vlve interlocking with irconditioning unit on the infl ow side in cse the ACTIVAL gets dmged. Although the ACTIVAL cn be used in high humidity environments (mx. 9 %RH), do not immerse the ctutor in wter. Although the ACTIVAL cn be used outdoors, be sure not to expose the ACTIVAL to direct sunlight. Instll the ACTIVAL in position llowing esy ccess for mintennce nd inspection. Fig. 1 shows the minimum clernce for mintennce nd inspection. When instlling the ACTIVAL in ceiling spce, provide n ccess hole within the 0 cm rdius of the ACTIVAL. And, plce drin pn under the vlve. Do not mount the ACTIVAL on pipe where wter hmmer occurs, or where solid objects including slug my ccumulte. Mounting position The ACTIVAL cn be mounted in ny position rnging from upright to sidewys (90 tilted). The ACTIVAL should be instlled with its ctutor verticlly positioned bove the vlve body. Instll bypss pipe nd gte vlves on the inflow, outflow, nd bypss sides. Also, instll striner with 40 or more meshes (with 80 or more meshes recommended for stem control) on the inflow side. When instlling the ACTIVAL to the pipes, do not llow ny object, such s chips, to get inside pipe or vlve. Vlve cnnot fully close, or the vlve set my get dmged cusing fluid lekge, due to n object jmmed inside the vlve. When piping, do not pply too much seling mteril, such s solidifying liquid nd tpe, to the pipe connection sections so tht these mterils flow into the vlve. Vlve cnnot fully closes, or the vlve set my get dmged cusing fluid lekge, due to the seling mteril jmmed inside the vlve. Before ctivting the ACTIVAL, fully open (in 100 % position) the vlve nd flush the pipes (with the ACTIVAL instlled) t the mximum flow rte to remove ll the foreign substnces. (Fctory preset position: 100 %) For stem control, drin retined wter (condenste) in piping. Instll trp on pipe run which my retin condenste. Condenste my cuse wter hummer or dmge the vlve nd piping. zhet insultion Do not pply het insultion to the ctutor or to the yoke, s shows in Fig.. If the yoke nd the ctutor re covered with insultion mteril, the pointer cnnot be checked nd my be distorted. zfctory preset position The ctutor shft is positioned t 100 % (in fully open position) for shipment. The shft is thus completely turned clockwise, nd the pointer points t 100. (See Fig. 4.) Pointer zmnully opening/closing the ACTIVAL Figure 4. Pointer position for shipment IMPORTANT: Mnully opening/closing the ACTIVAL with the power (4 V AC) pplied my dmge the ctutor. To mnully open/close the ACTIVAL, do not turn the joint beyond the fully open (100)/closed (0) mrk. To mnully open/close the ACTIVAL, slowly turn the joint. If shock is sent to the ctutor, the ctutor my get dmged. Disconnect the power from the ACTIVAL before mnully operting the ACTIVAL. As shown in Fig., from the front of the ACTIVAL, hold the joint using tool such s wrench, nd turn the joint slowly towrd the set position. Joint Hold the joint using wrench nd turn slowly. Figure. 9 AB0 zauxiliry switch / Auxiliry potentiometer (optionl) IMPORTANT: The uxiliry switch/potentiometer is instlled on site. Refer to the instructions supplied with the uxiliry switch/potentiometer for instlltion. Do not open the top cover except when djusting the uxiliry switch/potentiometer. Close the top cover instntly fter djusting the uxiliry switch/potentiometer. Do not put ny lod on the top cover. zprocedure to chnge the ctutor mounting position IMPORTANT: Do not chnge the combintion of the vlve, yoke, nd ctutor. Set the ACTIVAL (ctutor nd vlve) in 100 % position when chnging the mounting position. If the vlve in 0 % position is ssembled with the ctutor in 100 % position, the ctutor puts torque on the closed vlve, nd the ger of the ctutor gets dmged. 1) Remove the screws connecting the ctutor nd the yoke. Lift the ctutor nd detch it from the yoke. Mke sure tht the groove on the top of the vlve stem is prllel to the pipes (indicting the vlve in 100 % position). <Step 1 in Fig. 6> ) Remove the screws connecting the yoke nd the vlve. <Step in Fig. 6> 3) Chnge the fcing direction of the yoke. The yoke nd ctutor cn be horizontlly rotted every 90 (0 /90 /180 /0 from the fctory preset position) to mount onto the vlve. 4) A therml insultion sheet is inserted between the yoke nd the vlve. When chnging the mounting positions, reinsert the sheet nd then fit the yoke into the new mounting position. ) Before fixing the yoke to the vlve with the screws, check tht the ctutor engges correctly with the vlve stem (t the new mounting position). Check tht the pointer of the ctutor indictes 100 % position s well. Then, fix the yoke to the vlve. <Step 3 in Fig. 6> 6) Mount the ctutor. Plce the ctutor, with its fcing direction chnged, on the yoke, nd fix them with the screws. <Step 4 in Fig. 6> ) Check tht the ACTIVAL with the mounting position chnged opertes smoothly (from 0 % to 100 %). 10 AB0 Wiring A CAUTION Instlltion nd wiring must be performed by qulified personnel in ccordnce with ll pplicble sfety stndrds. Disconnect power from the product (including the optionl devices) before performing ny wiring or mintennce to prevent equipment dmge. IMPORTANT: The ACTIVAL is designed for 4 V AC power supply voltge. Do not pply ny other power voltge (e.g., 100 V AC, 00 V AC) to the ACTIVAL. For 10 V DC input, 010 V DC input, nd 40 ma DC input types, mke sure the polrity of the power supply nd 10 V DC feedbck output, referring to Figs 9 to 14. Incorrect wiring my result in PCB (print circuit bord) burnout. To prevent dmge, cover the terminls except when connecting/disconnecting wires. Do not leve ny refuse including metl chips fter cutting knockout hole nd fter connecting the wires inside the ctutor. Do not connect 4 V AC power to the terminls 4 to. zwiring precutions 1) To led the wires into the terminls, cut out knockout hole for wiring port. Two knockout holes re provided on the bilterl sides of the ctutor terminls. Select knockout hole ccording to the conduit mounting direction, nd cut it out by lightly knocking the hole using screwdriver. Knockout hole for wiring port Figure. Terminl cover removl 3) Correctly connect the wires to the terminls with M3. screw terminl lugs, referring to Figs 9 to. 4) When the ACTIVAL is used in highhumidity environment or outdoors, use wterproof connector for the wiring port. 10
